Clarification on the Targeting: Torso Deed

"Targeting the torso doubles the critical range for the attack."

How does this ability interact with things like Improved Critical and Keen?

it should all in all triple crit range

in 3.5 and I'm pretty sure in PF too, there was the rule that if several multipliers apply you add them, by reducing them by 1 after the first

so multiply by X and Y and Z leads to multiply by X+(Y-1)+(Z-1)

Improved Critical and Keen both specifically state that no critical range increasing effects stack. I would guess that since there is nothing to state that a targeted torso attack breaks this rule, it does not stack.

Per the Keen Edge spell description:

"Multiple effects that increase a weapon's threat range (such as the keen special weapon property and the Improved Critical feat) don't stack."

Per Improved Critical:

"This effect doesn't stack with any other effect that expands the threat range of a weapon."

While I agree, I think this is kind of lame, since, as of yet, the firearms we have only crit on a 20. Since Keen can't be added to firearms, I think the ability should stack with Imp. Critical. Just for this instance.

Sure, it saves you from having to invest in the feat or an enhancement, but... meh.

Foghammer: I absolutely agree, it should stack, as it is the only Deed that increases damage output!

That being said, RAW would imply that it presently does not stack. And if they do allow it to stack, you run into the problem of folks takin Signature Deed, applying it to Targetting, and also having Improved Critical. Now every round, for no grit spent, your Crit Range goes to 17-20? WIth a x4 modifier, that's serious business, and will start getting you back a lot of grit points due to landing criticals...

However, If your only going to be getting one shot per round (or less)anyway (current gun rules) then having a 17-20/x4 crit becomes less of an issue.

I think (and hope) that the one shot-per round issue is probably going to see some resolution once the full gun rules are out, if not in the next round of the play test. Everyone does seem so concerned about it...

Considering that crit. range boosters never stack with each other in other instances, I'm just going to assume that the text was missing on this one.
