Top 32: If you need an archetype, I had an idea my monk really wants...

I play a monk in PF Society, and the following monk archetype hasn't been done, and presents a specific benefit only available to an archetype such as this:

A monk that focuses on shurikens, with ki abilities which enhance them during flurry of blows (FOB with shurikens is standard, but there is a lot of room here). A ki-enhanced shuriken that could deal elemental damage is the goal (fire, cold, electricity, acid). My monk wants to throw flaming shurikens, and there is no simple, easy, or cheap way to do it currently - I have asked Doug Miles, and we have considered my options. It's unfeasible.

The archetype could solve my dilemma - and everyone should love FLAMING SHURIKENS. ;) I was thinking: "Starstorm Monk"

I didn't make it into the Top 32 to bring up my idea, but you did - please feel free to take this concept and run with it. I had no intentions of using it officially except in this contest session. It's yours to keep if you want it. :D Good luck to each and every one of you - you deserve it. ;)

PS: I'm not sure you would be allowed to say much in reply to this, but I don't think I am prevented from sharing the idea for someone else to use. So don't add anything beyond, "thanks!" or something similar! I don't want you to get disqualified!

Please, PLEASE, do not do this. If someone was working on a monk/shuriken archetype, you have hindered them. If they had an elemental monk, you have hindered them. I know you meant the best, but this really is not helping anyone.

I'm not competing in this stage, but I might be able to help you with your suggestion.

Are you after a Monk with better ranged combat capabilities or do you just like the 'theme' of flaming shurikens? With the introduction of the Zen Archer in the APG, I'm going to assume you just like shurikens. ;)

You can already have shurikens with the Flaming enchantment, so they're already possible (albeit expensive without item creation feats). As for a monk that enhances shirukens with Ki, I don't really see this as a gap in the available Monk archetypes. Still, I think there's something I can suggest.

In my experience with traditional martial arts, shurikens were mostly used at close range (within 20') to momentarily stun, distract, impair, bleed or poison targets (VERY Ninja). Therefore, perhaps someone can come up with archetype abilities that allow you to apply effects like Stunning Fist, Disarm, Ki modifiers, etc to shurikens. On their own, such abilities are more than likely better suited to feats; however if someone can come up with other close-range abilities to compliment such uses of shurikens, they might just find themselves a winner. ;)

Flagging this thread for removal. Seriously, are you guys TRYING to sabotage the contestants?

Agreed. You've now opened someone who was going to submit anything similar to the appearance that they didn't use their own ideas.

@xidoraven

Honestly, what were you thinking?

Besides spoiling the "elemental monk" archetype for anyone (not that I would consider an archetype based on such a manga-clichee superstar) you actually think that the contestants need your help with a suggestion you posted and even warning them that they shouldn't answer with anything more than "thanks"?

If that isn't thoughtless it is a bad case of self inflation!

I think the dude's got the message. :|

In any case, if such a suggestion (although I prefer to see it as a challenge, bit insert 'mistake' if you want) is really going to jeopardize anyone's submission, then the judges really need to question their integrity.

Let it go and close the thread.

this really wasn't the best Idea. If you really want to use/ Craete this archetype, why not try it yourself and post it in the "If I was in the Top32, I would submit..." Thread, where you will get feedback and suggestions to improve on it.

Contestant made items are not PFS legal anyway even if the contestant won.

@xidoraven:

Exactly what stops your current monk from wielding +1 flaming shurikens?

Yeah. Thread locked. Folks, don't do this. It helps exactly no one.

If you want help building your own archetype, post in the Homebrew forum. If you want to tell Paizo about Archetypes you'd love to see in upcoming books, go post in Paizo Products.
