I agree with Lord Fyre.

So did she use the same dwarven contractors for this dungeon as Durokon did for the original?

Liberty's Edge

Compared to the second strip, the marching order has changed a bit : Haley is now first, as befits the trapfinding Rogue, followed by Roy, and Belkar comes third whereas he was in the rear originally.

And all the NPCs and companions are behind the original crew.

1288: Plus They're not Even Blue

"Uh, no offense."

And it looks like Serini is a devotee of the Tomb of Horrors school of dungeon design.

Heh, I don't know what a "blue poet" is, and neither does the first page of Google results, but "blue poet dnd" is already been used as a search term enough that it's the first autocomplete suggestion in my browser.

The first page of results in Google now includes the discussion on the GitP forums.

Blue Poet is probably like the Yellow King only different color.

Nice dungeon design though. Grimtooth would be proud.

At least it's only a blue poet, not the Mute Poet (for anyone who's read Charles Stross' New Management books).

Serini does not think like a Rogue anymore. She thinks like a GM.

Same difference.

Yeah I mean when it comes to dungeon design, the difference between a GM and Rogue is like...nearly infinitesimal.

1289 Sight Unseen

This just keeps getting better and better.

Quite the trap.

I love the fact we have two different 'traps' going on at the same time.

1290: Group Project

Serini is very, very devious.

Also old and cranky.

Liberty's Edge

Not the first Rogue I met that just cannot stand a Paladin, no matter what.

Wow. I just have a deeper respect of Serini than I had before. Just awesome.

1291: Threadbare

It's a little-known fact that liches love ice cream.

That's why some people pronounce them as "lick," because that's how they enjoy a good cone.

I just love the fact the Roy had to backtrack that statement...

Liberty's Edge

Loved the Lawful rigid statement.

My first thought was that this is a great call back to the prequel books, that people who have only read the comic online won't get.

1292: Plus the Dramatic Lighting

What's the over/under on Serini having to pull a Gandalf--"Fly, you fools!"?

Dark Archive

Where did Mimi come from? Confused by their appearance in this latest comic.

Grand Lodge

She tagged along.

Thanks!

I'm glad Roy realizes the tactical disadvantage to a walkway if you're the hero...

With Mimi and the other monsters working with Serini, and the earlier topics of how the goblins have gotten the short shrift from the gods themselves, I like how the comic is exploring the inherent assumptions the OotS races are making about the monster races. I hope Burlew takes that topic to a full conclusion. Something that gives all the races deserve a chance to thrive, but still acknowledges that many are still dangerous and need to be defended against.

1293: Acid Wash

Serini really is evilly clever. Excellent budgeting skills, too.

But memory lapses it seems.

Only a week between updates this time!

Silver Crusade

Best detail is that O-Chul seemed seriously worried about Belkar.

I'm pretty sure there was some skimping on that part of the budget....

1294: Entrance

"Echolocation, I'm guessing, based on the ears."

Also, uh-oh.

Also, excellent double meaning in the strip title.

Nice misdirection. I had to go back to the previous comic strip (1293) to realize Sunny was ignoring Serini (yeah; "uh-oh").

Liberty's Edge

New character I guess (based on the colors).

Okay this is just unfair that you can charm a beholder like that....

Also very nice V. :)

Well. That doesn't look good.

Calder seems nice.

Insufficiently servile...

Liberty's Edge

Devil-related I think.

Sweet!!! I love this already! :D

Time for Bloodfeast to wander into Sunny's line of sight to set up some lizard-on-lizard action?

Man, after all this time, the payoff for Bloodfeast better be good.

I just noticed that in the splash panel that introduces the dragon, it looks like Haley is trying to casually circle around to the left.

1296: Cult Classic

Interesting first and last lines of this strip. Probably not related, but...

"You know, I think groveling doesn't get enough credit as an option."

...

"Yeah, that's like basic relationship stuff."

I feel great about the fact they at least semi-prepared for big bad villain's ability to change allies to foes.

Also, yes don't contradict your girlfriend when she's fighting a dragon.

Liberty's Edge

If the dragon was wise enough, it would likely get why she mentioned all of them instead of letting it waste precious actions and slots to find out by itself.

1297: Cold Open

It's probably a good thing that the party got here before Xykon et al...facing all of them at once would be rather daunting.

Ha ha, I loved the last panel!
