I ask because I have some questions I made a thread in the Advice section to ask (largely regarding how the different dhampir sub-groups might synergize with the inquisitor class due to their varying attribute bonuses), that seems, for lack of a better term, to have been ignored, as the only post in the thread is my own first post, so any subsequent posts by me would likely be considered a breach of etiquette.

The FAQ button is a good option if it's a rules question—you might not get a personal reply on the boards, but the rules team does go through the FAQ questions and periodically updates the FAQ with answers.

If you're looking for an answer from a specific Paizo staffer, you can always post the question with the staffer's name in the subject line... but keep in mind that not everyone at Paizo is equally active on the boards.

And if that doesn't work, maybe try reposting the question in a different forum? Maybe no one saw it? And certainly, if no one answers the question, bumping it isn't really rude in my book, although give it a day or two between bumps.

Multiattack doesn't grant any iterative attacks.

When a creature uses a manufactured weapon, any natural attacks it has in addition (such as a bite or a gore) become secondary attacks. Some natural attacks (like tentacles) start out as secondary attacks. A secondary attack has a -5 penalty to hit.

All multiattack does is reduce that -5 penalty to a -2 penalty. Doesn't interact with iterative attacks at all.

Opps now I feel stupid... I meant Multiweapon Fighting...

It's more about optimization than how the rules work, and I am not looking for a response from anyone in particular, just people knowledgeable about that kind of stuff. I'll bump it tomorrow, and I will now get some sleep.

That's a question you'd have to ask Rob and the adventure path authors, since I didn't have much involvement in the creation and development of that AP (with the exception of the 5th adventure, which I did develop).

My guess is because the AP is a pretty edgy one with regards to cruelty and the like, it being all about pirates.

It is interesting to note how it is a matter of perception too.

In another thread there was people arguing that that undertone was lacking in Skull & Shackles and that they were expecting a tone of strong sexual menace and intimidation in a pirate crew.

Aroden is the last Azlanr. But he was born before Earthfall of after it?

He was the las scion of some remnant of the Azlant civilization, born during the age of darkness or later, or he lived during Aztlan heydays?

And what he did before raising the Starstone? We will ever get the tales of his adventures as told by his church?
I would be very curious to know what he found and what he did when he first sealed the Worldwound and other tales of his most notorious exploits.

Ah.

Multiweapon fighting does not grant iterative attacks to off-hand weapons; it just lowers the penalties in the same way two-weapon fighting does. Currently, there are not improved or greater versions of the feat.

The fact that we've got both interpretations and reactions tells me we're in a good middle ground for Skull & Shackles.

Aroden was born thousands of years after Earthfall. As for what he did before he raised the Starstone? Currently unrevealed, but he certainly spent a fair amount of time being an adventurer.

His adventures in the Worldwound were well after he raised the Starstone. There'll be some more info about that (but not much) in the Worldwound campaign setting book.

I have a question of Golarion ethnicities...
We have 'Slavic' sounding personal names and place names in the 'NE Avistan'/ 'NW Casmaron' area...
Is that it's own ethnic group or language? Or is it part of the Kellid realms, perhaps a specific 'branch' of Kellid people/culture?
I've also seen fairly 'Germanic' personal names come up, is this meant to be from any distinct people/language/culture?
Same for the more Celtic-sounding references...

How did the Greek-analogue Iblydos influence early Taldan culture?

Do you ever get to bring Shimmey to work?

Hey again James! I actually having a question regarding the antipaladin, but more specifically about their 'tough of corruption' ability. You see, unlike with lay on hands for paladins (which can be used as a swift action if the paladin targets herself), the touch of corruption has no such stipulation (and for obvious reason, at least as far as the standard antipaladin is concerned). However, for the antipaladin archetype (Knight of the Sepulcher), it is actually possible for the 'touch of corruption' ability to heal an antipaladin (since at level 5, an antipaladin is treated as undead, and the touch of corruption could actually heal them).

anyway, I was curious about two things 1) Are there any plans to do an errata of some kind so that the antipaladin knight of the sepulcher can 'officially' use 'touch of corruption' upon themselves as a swift action? Or 2) would you personally allow them to do it already anyway?

How do natural lycanthropes come about?
As many ways as you want them to. They could be the children of lycanthropes. They could be cursed or blessed by a god or an artifact. They might be those who contracted the disease from a mythic or other potent lycanthrope. They might be lycanthropes who've lived with their condition for a set period of time. And so one.

One way a society of lycanthropes can propagate and keep their bloodlines fresh, is to kidnap humans of either gender. If the kidnappee is male, he's made to impregnate a female of the tribe and once it's certain that the mating has taken, the now-infected male is then killed. If it's female, she's kept alive until the child is born and then disposed of as the tribe has no use for the liability of afflicted lycanthropes. This would be the rule mainly for werewolves as they tend to be evil as a rule.

[tangent] If it's possible for a child to be born to a werewolf and not even be afflicted, to just be a 'weak pathetic human, with no wolf at all,' that would make a hell of an origin story. A fantasy equivalent of Romulus and Remus, born to a 'she-wolf' and discarded as a child when it became evident that you hadn't inherited 'the wolf,' only to miraculously survive, a human with no special traits, but the memories of having been 'raised by wolves' and deemed unworthy of ever running with them.

Would such a character grow up with a need to prove themselves worthy, perhaps seeking out the curse of lycanthropy, or be filled with contempt and 'counter-rejection' for those who abandoned him, and become a werewolf-hunting Ranger or Inquisitor, darkly dreaming of the day when you wear your mother's pelt like a cloak?

Very cool kinda mythic story possibilities! [/tangent]

The background tribe would have to be something a bit more tolerant than the one I described. They kill the afflicted lycanthropes that are created from the matings because they have no use for afflicted lycanthropes who lack the control that naturals have, since they infiltrate Human societies and keep their natures hidden until they pick a target to kill. A child is either born as a natural shifter or slain when they don't prove their nature within a given time. The last thing they want is an outsider that knows their secret.

There are different ethnicities in Casmaron, but the bulk of those who live in Iobaria up there where you're talking about are Kellids, I believe.

We've not yet done much more with the Casmaron ethnicities, but there absolutely is a Greek-analoge ethnicity in Iblydos.

2) Nope. One of the things you give up when you become an antipaladin is the ability to heal as efficiently as a paladin.

There are some antipaladin archetypes out there, yeah.

The ninja and samurai came from history and legend, of course. We were doing the Jade Regent Adventure Path at the time, so we needed to put in support for those two classes for that; the actual mechanics for them were by Jason Bulmahn.

I actually built the first draft of the gunslinger (it was one of several classes I had built for my Unspeakable Futures game), and Stephen Radney-MacFarland took that and developed it (including adding the grit mechanic) into the class you see today.

I've never been to England, so I can't say.

Also, the weather varies depending on where you are—there are rainforests and deserts in the state, after all.

Here in the greater Seattle area, summers generally are around 70 to 80 degrees, with a few weeks getting into the 90s. In the winter, things don't often drop that far below freezing; mid 20s at lowest but usually up in the mid 30s to low 40s. It rains often, but not hard—the typical rainfall is more like a gentle misting, but it does this a lot. Right now, the skies are partially cloudy and at times quite sunny.

There's actually a LOT of work that goes into designing a new class for the game, but the first step for both base classes and prestige classes is that the idea has to be able to say "No" to the question "Is this class concept already covered by options in the game?"

If not, then the class gets designed, then playtested/developed, then edited. There is no "magic formula" that we use to make a class happen.

Not really. A clone activates once a person dies. A vampire or lich has already died; that's how they become undead in the first place.

If you destroy a vampire or lich or any undead (and I mean DESTROY... not just defeat), then clone can bring them back as surely as resurrection or true resurrection... although getting a sample of the undead's flesh that's not rotting would be tricky.

Well... technically, I never worked on Dragon, apart from writing a lot of articles. I worked solely on Dungeon at Paizo.

I was hired to join the staff as an associate editor because Jesse Decker had been hired to join WotC's design department—at the time, he was the editor of Dragon. There were some promotions at Paizo and some reorganizations, and that left a gap in the hierarchy on Dungeon, and I'd been a regular writer for the magazine for a few years at that point, and so I got the call from Johnny Wilson that was basically: "Wanna work at Paizo for Dungeon Magazine? They took one of mine, so I wanna take one of theirs!"

(At the time I was working at Wizards of the Coast doing work in the sales department and the website handling contracts and the like. I'd actually interviewed for the design position that Jesse ended up being hired for, and in the end it was down to the two of us, if I remember correctly... they went with Jesse because he had more experience at the time. In hindsight, I'm glad that I never did get hired to work on the D&D design team, although I did apply for a position there several times and got closer each time...)
