Who was behind the push to give each major outsider race a critter that's suitable as an improved familiar?
Is there any reason why lantern archons are idiots? Or is that just sort of a holdover from the earlier editions?
Have you ever read any books by John Keegan?
No one in particular... it just seemed bluntly obvious that if LE and CE spellcasters could have quasits and imps, the other seven alignments deserved things of equal power as well. I'm not always a fan of equality among options (which is why there's no direct analog among evil outsiders to angels, for example), but in this case, I am.
Partially out of tradition, partially because they're REALLY potent CR 2 monsters, and lowering their Intelligence helps to keep them from being too good. Also, Int 6 is not as smart as average... but I wouldn't call that level of intelligence "an idiot." I'd save that for scores of 1 to 3 or thereabouts.
Nope.

Holdover.
Lantern Archons were Int 6 in the 3.5 Monster Manual, Int 6 in the 3rd edition Monster Manual, Int 6 in the 2nd edition Planescape Planes of Law Monstrous Supplement, Int 5-7 in the 2nd edition Monstrous Compendium Outer Planes Appendix, and Int 5-7 in what appears to be their first publication, the 1st edition Manual of the Planes.

1)How many pages does each planet get in Distant worlds?
2)In the Isles of Shackles how many monsters got into this book?
3)Will we ever see any new prestige classes anytime soon?
4)The Dragon Empire Primer has an Oni sorcerer bloodline correct? Any thing for Oracles in this book?
5)Do we have an idea of how much of the art of Wayne Renolds hardcover book will be Pathfinder art?
1) Most got 4 pages. One got 2 pages. The Sun only got 1 page.
2) The bestiary in Isles of the Shackles has a mix of monsters and NPCs, just like the Lands of the Linnorm Kings book. This chapter is longer than the one in Lands of the Linnorm Kings though. In Isles of the Shackles, there's about two dozen monsters/NPCs in all.
3) Oh my yes.
4) Not much crunch for oracles in the book, no.
5) You do not. I do. :-P (Not ready to reveal that yet, in any event.)

James,
I have a Bestiary III query regarding the Shinigami (pg 244):
Under the Destroy Soul special ability it mentions that the creature has 6 gems to encapsulate souls with, and that it can destroy a soul contained in one by crushing the gem.
Can the Shinigami replace a gem that it's used? It doesn't say in the description.
If so, how long does it take to create a new gem?
If not, what happens to a Shinigami that has used up all its gems?

First off let me say thanks for the LG improved familiar in Bestiary 3!
And second, thanks to you (or if not you, redirect thanks) to who made/wrote Numeria in all its awesomeness! (Especially the giant scorpion who abducts people, the technic league, and all those crazy bits of alien items/artifacts!!)
It has inspired me to create a sort of amazing race/wacky racers blend for my party to run through for a chance at various artifacts through the wastelands of Numeria! (Against a wide group of factions from the faction guide.)
I know there are stat blocks for two of the 'Rovagug Spawn' (specifically the firebleeder (Xonti), and the tarrasque (Don't think this one has a name)). Will the others be forthcoming? (Trying to mechanically come up with some of the described abilities (from the LoF article about it)) seems a bit daunting.
And, a few countries over, is there any plans to flesh out a 'Bastard Hall' module/adventure/dungeon? I love the concept, almost as much as my players are now terrified of black coaches.

That's a good question. I'd say that they replace the gems by getting them from some mysterious source or master, though—it's not something they can do on their own. In other words—the methods of replacing gems should be governed by world/story elements. Since they can only crush 1 gem a day, replacing gems isn't going to be an issue for the majority of encounters with them in any case.
A shinigami who uses all of the gems simply can't use its destory soul ability until it gets more gems is all.

The "name" you're looking for with the Tarrasque is "Armageddon Engine." We have no plans right now to stat up any of the other spawn... but that can certainly change! Some day we eill!
Bastardhall is one of Wes Schneider's pet locations—he's the one who gets to decide where and when we detail it. (In fact, he's been already detailing it one bit at a time—he's run adventures set in Bastardhall for the past 3 Paizocons, I believe...)

When will we have any info on AP #12, vols 73-78?
Even a mere and indefinate sentence like
"Not sure but we're thinking of doing something in one of the main Golarion mini-settings such as Cheliax, Taldor, Absalom or Andoran"
.... or "Not sure but we'd like to go back to Garund, maybe Osirion or even southern Garund off the map."
....Or even, "Some folks have reminded of us Baba Yaga's daughter in Irrisen this year and we would like to do that, but maybe not exclusively in Irrisen, maybe a good bit of it could be in The First World or something else -- if we go that way."

Not a question, but since you don't seem to have returned to the Dervish Dancer thread, I wanted to make sure Shensen was getting the most bang for her buck. ;-)

It's basically a "selfish bard" archetype. You're the only one who gets the damage bonus, and until higher levels, you effectively lose a round of combat activating bardic performance anyway (since it's a standard action to activate bardic performances—a typical bard can fire it up and his allies can get bonuses immediately, whereas the dervish dancer has to wait a round before getting to use it until higher levels... save for the possibility of attacks of opportunity, I guess). So overall... the Dawnflower Dervish's change to inspire courage is actually, I would say, a slight nerf to the class—one that is made up for by the fact that you get free access to a pretty great feat.
It's still a fun class—I'm actually playing a Dawnflower Dervish in Erik's game—but it does play a bit different than a normal bard. And you WILL annoy some other players who think that your character's there to help them just because you're a bard.

We generally announce Adventure Paths at PaizoCon and at GenCon. The Feburary one generally gets announced at PaizoCon, while the August one gets announced at GenCon.
So!
We'll be announcing the one that comes after Shattered Star at PaizoCon 2012—this AP will run from Pathfinder 67–72.
That means that we'll announce the NEXT one, the one running from volumes 73–78, at Gen Con 2012. During one of the seminars; probably one on Thursday or Friday.
Until that Thursday or Friday seminar, I don't have much to say at all about that AP.

No problem, boss. It's also one of my favorite archetypes. Love Bards, and that's the most fun looking variant I've seen. Should I ever actually be a PC in a game again (GMing seems to be my lot in life the past few years), Dawnflower Dervish is what I intend to make.

Hi JJ a few questions
1.Will there be any development, sample builds or the like regarding the most Awesome Ustalav character Dr D?
2.I know about Psionics Unleashed release but is there any works towards Pathfinder making their own unique Psychic system?
3.If you took a vacation to Australia would you come to Perth?
4.What is your favorite class/prestige class and archetye (don't have to be for the same character)
5.Will there ever be any more oracle curses?
6.How did you become a creative director?
7. Last and probably most important question. My girlfriend fears that at some point Pathfinder will go down the road of 4th ed and destroy the world to make way for a new edition, much as they did with Forgotten Realms (Her former favorite setting) will that ever come to pass for our beloved Golarion?

What holy symbol would you take ?

HA! Great questions!

AL: CN
Avatar: Big-ass tyrannosaur (even though the REAL Gwangi was an allosaur)
Herald: A centaur dinosaur hottie. That's not weird, is it?
Favored Weapon: Scimitar
Unique power: Summon dinosaur spirits to feed upon the enemy
No dwarves
Holy Symbol: T-rex claw puncturing a dwarf's skull
SKR would!

6) By writing an adventure for Dungeon #12 back when I was about 14 or so years old, then turning that one adventure into several over the course of 10 or so years, then getting hired at Wizards of the Coast as a sales support button-pusher, then helping to design a lot of D&D books, then getting hired at Paizo as an assistant editor on Dungeon, then getting promoted to associate editor on Dungeon, and then getting promoted to managing editor on Dungeon, then getting promoted to Editor-in-Chief of Dungeon, then having WotC not renew the D&D magazine licenses, then helping launch Pathfinder, then becoming Editor-in-Chief of the Pathfinder Adventure Path, then getting promoted to Creative Director. And all along the way getting better and better at writing, rules design, adventure design, world design, and not bailing on Paizo when the going got tough for several years.
7) Name one successful RPG that has NOT done more than one edition after a certain amount of time that has passed. You can't. We WILL some day do a 2nd edition of Pathfinder. But when we do... we will not "blow up" the Forgotten Realms. The switch from D&D to Pathfinder rules (something we did a few years ago) resulted in a few ripples, but the world itself didn't change at all. A switch from 1st to 2nd edition Pathfinder won't do much more either.
The PRIMARY REASON that the Forgotten Realms has traditionally had those "world-shaking events" has more to do with changes in management and changes in who was working on the Realms at the time. It's really hard to track years and years of continuity in a game setting, so when a new team or new management comes on board, hitting a sort of "reset" button on a setting really helps the new team not only handle the setting, but it allows the new team to put more of their own vision and work into that setting.
So if you see Paizo's management or the editorial staff make a huge change in who's working what job... THAT could well herald a change in the world on the order of "blowing up the Forgotten Realms." In the meantime, Erik and Wes and Jason and Rob and Sutter and me and all the rest of us at Paizo have put FAR TOO MUCH WORK into Golarion to want to break it.
In other words... a new edition needs to support the Golarion we already know. When a new edition comes along, that'll be its primary job. The rules themselves will probably end up changing more than the world itself—if we do our jobs right, characters in Golarion won't even know an edition change happened.

Mr. Jacobs,
If an Eidolon was killed by a death effect such as a symbol of death spell, What would be the proper ruling insofar as to whether or not the Eidolon could be summoned again the next day?
My thought is RAW - Eidolon is croaked, RAI - It should be allowed to comeback or at the very least summons the body back so the party could cast a Ressurrection spell.

I noticed that the Bestiary 3 has a new stat block type, the ritual, used in the Leshy entries.
Are there plans for more rituals in Pathfinder?
Is there a general description about how rituals work?
I'm assuming that unlike magic item creation, all requirements must be met, there's no +5 to the DC of the skill check for skipping a requirement.
Speaking of that, per RAW, a magic item crafter can avoid any requirement other than the crafting feat, including things like minimum level for cloaks of protection, being an elf for boots of elvenkind, etc, in addition to spells. Is this a feature or a flaw? Would you change it so non-spell requirements can't be avoided by simply adding 5 to the DC of the skill check to craft?

I'm fortunate in that I don't have to do that at all: I can just go onto the server and get the original art as is if I need it for a personalized handout for a game. :-P
Have you considered making a gallery of your published artwork organized by what book they are like WotC used to do (don't know if they still do)? Put the copyright info at the bottom or at least in the metadata (or better yet, both)?

IANJ, but I think that's the way it is intended, except not sure what you mean about minimum level for Cloaks of Protection? Do you mean the caster level? Pretty sure THAT is not able to be worked around by the +5 (and even if you do allow it, that's yet another +5, when you already have a higher DC from the caster level you don't meet). Still, IMO a +5 is pretty significant penalty, being 5 levels essentially. So, if you aren't an elf and don't have the spells, that Cloak will be +10, making it 18. So, an ELF has it very easy... anyone else can do it, it's just harder.

Those "ritual stat blocks" for the leshys are not anything special—they're basically just the "construction" stat block you see for constructs but changed as necessary to work for leshys.
As per the magic item crafting stuff... it's a feature. It allows a particularly gifted spellcrafter to take shortcuts and to save effort.

We have. And it's not something we're that interested in doing. First of all, posting and maintaining art galleries like that is time consuming for the web team, and they have a lot better things to be doing with their time, frankly. And also, while we give the rules away for free for our games, we tend to be a lot more protective of our creative content—that includes story elements and artwork. We're not big on giving that away beyond what we do already in our blog.

Practice, I guess. And I try to tell myself that when someone gets all insulting on a post that they're just letting their passion for the game or the topic take over. Me getting insulting back only starts flame wars, and so when someone starts acting like a jerk, I just throw up my hands and go elsewhere.
Doesn't mean it doesn't frustrate or sadden or annoy me, but lashing back isn't good for the boards, so I just do my best to let it roll off my back. Walking away from the boards for a few hours when someone really gets under my skin is the best solution.
It does frustrate me when someone asks for input, and then when said input isn't what they're looking for they get all freaked out. But when they do... again... I just think the best thing to do is just walk away.

If you got the chance to re-write the Monk Class, would you remove the religious overtones or would you leave it as is? I recently approved for a once-off game a Cleric of Iori to swap out his Armor/Shield Proficiencies and his channel Energy ability for a Monk's AC Bonus, 1/2 'equivilent monk level' Speed Bonus and Unarmed Damage abilities without overpowering the Monk overmuch. Maybe it's just me and my wire-fu love, but the Martial Artist Archetype rocks, btw.
