Serpent's Skull player's searching for a GM (Team: Bridesmaid)

Gamer Connection

Given the recent spurt of interest in the Serpent's Skull AP and all those of us who expressed a desire to play but were not chosen for any of the recent groups that formed I decded to create a couple of threads for us to form groups so that any willing GM can look here for players.
That being said I'd like to keep the groups small (between 5-7 characters)so that we stand a better chance of picking up a GM and not overwhelming him/her with too many choices.

Always a bridesmaid, never a bride.

Marik Whiterose
Human Wizard (Diviner)
Neutral Good

Traits:
Mwangi Scholar
Focused Mind

Background:

The dream is always the same.

I'm flying over a verdant carpet of trees as far as the eye can see. Below me, scattered among the trees, are ruins far older than imagining. As I travel I come to a simple village located in a clearing in the jungle. After landing in the village I am ignored by the dark skinned natives. All, except one. A wizened old man with the universe in his eyes looks at me, no, through me. He leads me to the edge of the village where two paths lead off into the jungle. He says to me "One path leads to Power and Right, the other to Might and Darkness. It is up to you to decide which is the right path for you." As I look into those ageless eyes I never get the chance to decide as I always awake.

Ever since he was a young boy Marik Whiterose has been haunted by a recurring dream. It is this dream which has shaped his life. It was this dream which caused Marik to specialize in Divination magic in an attempt to discover it's meaning. It was this dream which led him to try to discover all he could about the Mwangi expanse and all it's environs, even creating a highly detailed map of the region. It was this dream that caused him to book passage aboard the Jenevire after graduating from the Academy.

I'm currently located in CDT (GMT -5) and am available to post multiple times a day, including weekends.

Well, I'll toss my hat in for Team Bridesmaid.

Human
Rogue-Swashbuckler L1

Bandlewick is ready for action. Navigator Druid, with the Weather domain instead of an animal companion.

Not sure if there be any goblins and Orcs but I'm in, just get me off this blasted ship, it does terrible things to the ale in ones belly.

dwarf fighter, wielding a Dwarven Dorn Derger.

I'm game, although I've never done a PBP before, I have done quite a bit of tabletop RP.

Shisa LeCroix
Female half-elf rogue

Background:

Shisa finds herself with a deep need to depart Corentyn after a rather successful heist of a rare jewel. Little did she know that the previous owner, the wife of a lesser noble in the merchant quarter, was having a tryst with a captain of the Cheliaxian navy. Unfortunately, Shisa inadvertently left behind evidence that could lead the local inquisitor investigating the heist straight to her.

"Hey, how was I supposed to know who that button belonged to??"

I'm CDT and can post daily if not more.

Do you want another ale? I'm sure there's more available down below. After all, Cayden would never turn such a shade of green. *Wanders below decks to refil her mug.*

My paladin is ready to go!

I'd say the second this exceeds six players, a new team needs to be formed.

The Exchange

You know what, after reading these brilliant character backgrounds I think I'd be willing to DM this for you six guys, if you want me.

I run a 15pt Ability Score buy, max hit points a level 1, 2 traits (1 being a campaign trait) sort of a game. Generally I'm more interested in the role-play aspect of games, character interaction, that sort of thing than the 'crunch' (although I do know the crunch). In PbP I'm not a map-poster type, I just do things descriptively (and hopefully dynamically). Feel free to go lurk on my Legacy of Fire game if you want to see my style.

Anyhow, if you're all up for it, I'm available... (of course I may have to go read the whole of the first AP book instead of just skimming it now...)

Well I wont speak for everyone but the way I see it, when a DM falls out of the sky, you don't ask questions, just thank the gods and get to it.

*Walking back up from below decks with two mugs of ale in hand.* I agree with the dwarf here. The sooner this ship sails, the better.

*Shisa holds out a mug of ale toward the dwarf* "Here, you look a little pale. Try some of this."

The sooner we reach port the better, the ground should not rock beneath ones feat.

*Looks carefully at shisa and the offered mug*

Quote:
I've heard enough sailor's stories to know women are bad luck at sea........but in this case I'll bow to conventional dwarven wisdom.

*takes ale and with a hearty laugh drains the mug*

Standing with her knees slightly flexed and swaying with the movements of the ship, she winks at the dwarf as he takes the mug of ale. "Oh, you're right. We are moving. I hadn't noticed." She laughs and lifts a toast to Cayden Cailean. "To a safe journey."

As Shisa raises her glass in toast, realization dawns on Mundin. She's an elf!!! Damn tree worshiping, pointy eared, weak ale making ELF!!! And worse, we just shared a drink!!! Now i suppose she thinks we're friends, boon companions even. I'll be stuck dragging her out of all kinds off trouble. This is what i get for getting on a boat!!!

Quote:
When I get to his forge, Torag's gonna have to explain what I did to deserve this

Shisa watches the range of emotions play over the silent dwarf's face as his expressions go from surprise to dismay and settle into a deep scowl. She lifts one eyebrow in bewilderment as her hand reaches up to move the windblown hair from her face.

She steps over to the railing and rests her arms on top of it looking out over the water. Her light olive skin and long sable hair hint at either a Kelish or Varisian parent. She takes a sip of her ale and lets out a soft sigh. "Gah, this stuff is horrid. Wonder if they have rum.."

Dark Archive

Marik walks up on deck, a little green around the gills. "Who would have thought a boat trip would be so...wavy" he thought to himself. Glancing around the deck at the crewmen busy with the neccesities of sailing the ship he notices the odd couple of a dwarf and an elf sharing a drink on the main deck. "Strange bedfellows" he thinks, quickly shaking his head to remove a mental image he did not intend to explore.
Walking over to his fellow passengers Marik missed the familiar weight of Nipper on his shoulder. Marik regretfully had to leave the little reptile in his cabin, since sea travel disagreed with him more than with Marik, and an irritable Needletooth loose on deck would do no one any good. "Given his pressent disposition he might even try to bite me".
"Greetings, fellow travelers. What brings you aboard this fine vessel?" This last is pitched so that the nearby seamen can hear. "Might as well get the pleasantries over so I can get back to my cabin and hurl that stew we had for lunch in private"

I'll have to trim Marik down from 20 points to 15, but that shouldn't be too difficult

Hearing a loud greeting, Shisa turns and rests her elbows on the railing, leaning back into it. Taking another sip of the horrid brew, she lifts the mug. "Well met." Her eyes take in the human's pallid color and she smiles slightly and shakes her head before taking another sip. "Would you believe that this ship was the only one leaving Corentyn when I was?" She laughs softly. "Choices were slim."

DM Info:
Have 15 point build using HL. Had to put AP trait in background section. Back story doc available on request.

The Exchange

Well okay then!

I'll go and post IC and OOC threads, with an intro to get things started. Feel free to jump in IC when you want - no reason we can't get underway whilst people fiddle with last minute crunch adjustments. I'll blather some more in the OOC thread.

"Someone's got ta guard this cargo" As he stretches and flexes his muscles, he past the metal ball of his dorn derger "And I'll be damned if anyone's gonna mess with it while I'm on the job almost forgetting his manners he offers his hand to the young man Names Mundin, of clan IronHand, well met stranger'

The Exchange

Or... I would post threads if the messageboards let me... :(

Weird 'system admin contacted' message...

This may take longer than I'd hoped...

I'll need to make some adjustments, obviously, but Bandy is in!

I blame the half elf

Am I cursed to being surrounded by elves???

The Exchange

Yup, for some reason I'm getting this little gem...

Maybe they just hate the idea of you guys getting a game? ;)

That's what I get for posting while distracted.

If I can create a thread, I could make some for us to use?

Go for it!

According to the boards, problem with making new threads should be solved.

There's no way they'd let himon the ship with that flaming skull. He'd set the whole ship aflame

Its a bad case of acne I swear! (dont get divine health till level 3)

Well, if there is still room, I would be interested in putting forward the following character for consideration:

Uchendu Kybwa'ka (Half-Elf Inquisitor)

There are two fully fleshed-out (and interwoven) backgrounds/appearances/motivations for him, one as a CN Inquisitor of Angazhan, the Ravener King; the other as a NG Inquisitor of Shimye-Magalla (the Mwangi hybrid of Gozreh and Desna).

Mechanically, they are both the same; I am happy playing either :-)

The Exchange

IC and OOC threads finally up! The admin on this site is amazing! :)

So head on over and start posting.

Uchendu - I hate turning players down, but I kinda' agreed to run this for the six players who'd already posted here... and six is a plenty big group already, so I'm really sorry but I feel I'm gonna' have to say 'no' this time. On the other hand, you can keep this thread going as the first of the next group looking to adopt a DM!
