Know Direction 23: Mostly is available for download. Not exactly as planned due to technical difficulties but the show must go on. Find out about The Pathfinder Chronicler Anthology vol 1 from Ted Thompson, and the changes to Pathfinder Society Organized Play from Mark Moreland.

still an enjoyable episode! also on a non-related note; what happened to the gnome travelling golarion part of the show?, i know it disappeared quite early on....

Just wanted to say thanks for making my 12 hour drive from 4PM to 4AM a tolerable and enjoyable experiance over the holiday weekend... all things considered. If you don't mind aswering a technical question, what do you use to edit Know Direction and 3.5 Private Sanctuary?

Gnome on the Go was at once the segment that required the most prep and the segment that netted the most complaints. Listeners were unanimously against poor Milinarsted as soon as they heard her. Fans of hers have since slowly peaked their heads out from time to time but not enough to compare to the volume or sincerity of those who really didn't like her.

Originally, and still occasionally, I used Audacity. It’s freeware, easy to use, and pretty comprehensive. After we got into the swing of 3.5 Private Sanctuary, we got Adobe Audition, which is similar to Audacity but more robust.

i see, well i guess if it was the hardest thing to do and least like it was something that had to go... and the gnome was a "her" o.O

Just to make sure it doesn't get overshadowed by all the PaizoCon seminar covered, you can now download Know Direction 24 - PaizoCon 2011 with guests Justin "Black Fang" Sluder and Jason "No Fangs" Bulmahn.

Thanks for reminding me ... not sure if it's just my iTunes client, but episode 24 on iTunes only clocks in at about 7 minutes?

The site hit its storage limit while uploading the episode. I removed some files and uploaded it again. I guess iTunes is commited to the first upload. Not being an iTunes user myself, I'm not sure how to resolve the issue, only that you can download directly from the site at the above link.

I deleted the episode, unsubscribed, and then resubscribed with the download all episodes option to get the corrected file.

Big episode previewing GenCon. We talk to Dave Gross about his upcoming Pathfinder Tales novel Master of Devils (available at GenCon) as well as five of the most prominent Pathfinder third party publishers talk about their Gen Con plans: Wolfgang Baur of Open Design; Robert Thomson of 4 Winds Fantasy Gaming; Steve Russel of Rite Publishing; Dale McCoy Jr of Jon Brazer Enterprizes; and Stan! of Super Genius Games.

All this and more in Know Direction 25

Top shelf episode. Helped to satisfy the Gencon itch that has been building in recent weeks.

Subscribe to 3.5 Private Sanctuary, and it will include the Know Direction episodes.

It's the same feed as 3.5 Private Sanctuary, so just find that and click subscribe. :)

So ... how do I subscribe to 3.5 Private Sanctuary? :) I don't see anything on the site that resembles instructions or a specific URL ...

Go to the itunes store and search 3.5 Private Sanctuary.

Scroll down till you see the podcast results. It should come up as the first one.

Sorry for the bad link, lol I fixed it. You can also download them individually from that site and add them to Itunes manually if you don't want the 3.5PS episodes.

3.5PS talks a lot about Pathfinder before they started Know Direction, but information is more stream lined after that. 3.5PS is great when they are dealing with stuff that is not system specific, but I don't find as much value in the crunch episodes as a Pathfinder player/GM. But I love Know Direction.

Got 'em! Thanks!!!

Yeah, not being an iTunes user I really don't know how to answer that question properly. We have the RSS feedfor people to subscribe with other podcatchers, but I'm sure the site could be better optimized for iTunes subscriptions.

Ryan, I would absolutely make it easier for iTunes users - there are a LOT of iTunes users out there!

It was great meeting a bunch of our listeners at GenCon, and I'm sorry that I wasn't able to chat with some as long as others. Most, including Perram, were surprised by my height.

I've transferred the interviews I recorded and will download Perram's recordings shortly. Instead of posting a mega GenCon episode, we'll be releasing multiple short episodes with one or two interviews each, as well as the seminars we recorded, and our Gen Con 2011 pod-diary. Everything will be released more or less chronologically, save for the Future of GenCon episode, which will be up tomorrow since there is already demand for it.

Enjoy!

I was surprised your voice in person was so similar to your recorded voice. Enough so that I recognized you based on your voice. It shows that you've made an investment in producing a quality podcast. Like I said at Gen Con, thank you and keep it up!

Because I use my regular voice on the podcast? Or are you suggesting I've done so much podcasting I've mutated my regular voice? Not that it matters either way. Actually, later the day we met I passed someone who I recognized as Tom Vassel from The Dice Tower by voice alone.

I mean that your voice on the podcast sounds exactly like your in-person voice. You don't get that level of quality on a podcast without investing a little in decent recording equipment and in learning how to use your audio processing software. Tom Vassel is definitely the same way.

I suppose you could also take it as meaning that you're not like a radio personality who embellishes their voice on the radio but sounds different in person, but that's not what I was trying to say. :)

Wouldnt this more or less be the same content that was shared at Paizo-Con?

The Writing for Paizo seminar I recorded is more or less the same as the PaizoCon seminar on the same topic, but Paizo saved most of its surprises for GenCon. Rise of the Runelords hardbound, details on the minis lines, Ultimate Equipment. A lot of announcements, with details on each.

Liberty's Edge

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

Some new GenCon coverage:

Know Direction's GenCon 2011 Diary - Day 0 - Perram and I discuss how we got to Indy and what our expectations are for this year.

A floor interview with Lisa Steves - Perram chats with Paizo's CEO about the upcoming prepainted plastic miniatures line from WizKids and Pathfinder's success.

Writing for Paizo seminar - James Jacobs, Wes Schneider, James Sutter, Mark Moreland, and Rob McCreary talk about breaking in as a freelancer to Paizo.

More to come, enjoy!

Listening to GenCon Diary - Day 3 right now. You guys sound soooo tired; it's very funny.

Liberty's Edge

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

Yeah. I catch a second wind halfway through, around the same time Perram drops from fatigued to exhausted.

Just to let everyone know, we're upgrading the site.

Good news: We will have space for our entire audio archive again and years of more content.

Bad news: Right now the links to the shows don't work, and neither does the forums.

In the meantime, here is a link people can direct download Know Direction 26: Shhhh... Stephen Radney-MacFarlane, in which we speak to designer Stephen Radney-MacFarlane about the changes to the Stealth skill and what it takes to be a Neo-Grognard.

First of all let me thank you and Perram for your work, it's fantastique and I'm listening you since the beginning without losing an episode.

Does it mean you are going to repost first episodes of Private Sanctuary?

The first 50, in fact, which have been off the site for about three months.

Just buzzed through the juicy bits guys and plan to give it the deserved full listen a bit later. As always, great stuff!

You're killing me, Madam. This one was late because of some outside factors. Well, later than intended. I got it out September 30th, 11:00+ pm. Actually, I have no idea what the banter transition sounds like. My speakers stopped responding when I recorded it and I didn't have time to restart. I had to goblinize it on faith and from memory.

Lawdog wrote:

I've updated the show notes with:

Astralplaydoh’s Character Folios and Perram's Character Folios.

Let me know if there are any other links I may have missed.

Well, that explains the 5 repeats of a pitched up GI Joe theme song... ;)

Liberty's Edge

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

Having no listened to it, I'll make sure I don't do that again. I mixed up the value I increase speed to create the goblin voice with the value I decrease pitch to create the dragon voice.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

We talk with Dale McCoy, Jr of Jon Brazer Enterprises about Shadowsfall, we answer listener questions about the magus and Super Genius Games, and we talked about news like the Advanced Race Guide playtest and James Jacobs' sudden habbit of referring to "mythic" level. All thisand more in Know Direction 28!

I noticed that as well. He seems to intentionally not use the word "epic" and instead use "mythic" which suggests to me that it is for a reason.
