Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Under RAW, there is no AoO for drawing a weapon in a threatened square, so you are fine.

Both rays scorch the skin and scales off the wyvern, as it screams in pain! Though injured severely by Bors' blows, the wyvern feels confident it can dispatch the warrior, especially when it becomes aware of Bors' feverish look due to the poison. It then goes on full attack!

Crazy Idea to try and Save bors...You said he is 5-6 mins away, that dimision door wand gives us 680 feet of move per cast, how many rounds would it take for Helfren to grab Elisen and use the wand to get to Bors? 680 feet a round= 6800 feet a min, more than a mile.

Not unless you look down the path, after you secure yourselves from your own sudden encounter and it's aftermath. Bor's understanding was that the party camped at the top of the rise, and he followed the path down the hill to near the river basin, being interrupted on the way by a dishonorable, disreputable wyvern-type ruffian.

Bors fights off the effects of the deadly poison for now, but he still feels it coursing through his system. The wyvern's stinger then connects, pumping even more black poison into his bloodstream through the gash in his arm!

Stinger Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Bors, I have looked back through the thread and I do not find any buff that would boost your AC past the 20 on your sheet, so I will go from that assumption and the wyvern's bite connects. If you can prove I am mistaken, let me know.

The wyvern's wings fail to further injure the warrior, but its bite takes a huge gash from Bors' leg, though the warrior manages to wriggle it free before the creature's jaws can lock!
Bite damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (2, 5) + 4 = 11
Grapple roll: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (3) + 16 = 19

Summary:
Wyvern has taken a total of 48 damage.

After being attacked by a Wyvern, I think that it would be entirely reasonable for Hrafen to send Chulyen up into the air (preferably after Augusto has cast Invisibility on him) to see if there are any other hostiles in the immediate area / see what Bors is up to. We might not be able to reach him (depending on what the ruling on the Wand of Dimension Door is), but we will at least know he is in trouble...

I will do so in the morning (about 9 hours hence).

When the heavily wounded Bors returns, Hrafen will comment:

"What happened to you? We encountered a Wyvern which blundered into our camp, but we managed to take it down fairly quickly."

When Bors mentions his own encounter, including the information that this was apparently a mated pair, Hrafen will look thoughtful.

"Hmmm... Being Dragons, and fairly territorial ones at that, it is possible that they may have had a lair nearby; we should probably investigate to see if they had much of a hoard... Bors? Did you spot any likely looking spots? Chances are, they would probably prefer a cliff-top cave of some kind..."

I would suggest that we at least make a cursory search before turning in for the night :-) If necessary, I can send Chulyen up, to look for potential lair sites...

Another thing - how do people feel about taking a day out to go shopping? I intend to take Teleport as one of my spells next level, and I can 'port over to Kyonin with a shopping list and our pile of swag in the morning, and then 'port back in the evening with the goods :-)

I suppose that depends on our lvl of supplies. I know we are in haste, but rushing in w/o some prep could very well get us all killed. I would be in for some shopping, If only long enough to port, shop, port, and rest.

Bors will need either a Restoration, or 1-2 Lesser Restoration spells, depending on the total amount of Constitution Damage taken from the Wyvern poison. Leveling and a day's rest might be in order, especially if we search out the wyverns' lair.

As far as magic shopping is concerned, Bors is neutral. More is useful, but time is critical. I don't know if this AP has a time limit, but haste prevents our enemy from preparing further defenses. Of course, time breeds complacency, so there is that to consider as well. We have taken days to reach this point, so I fear those to be slain have already been slain. The Varnholders are most likely being avenged rather than rescued.

If anything is bought, Bors wouldn't mind something to boost his AC, probably a ring of protection or some powerful potion/oil. Aside from that, he would be interested in anything that boosts the party's ability to survive against the Undead and Extraplanar Fiends this Evil Cyclops, (if that's what it really is), seems to summon, donating any overflow funds and his current assets to this end.

Any traveling back ta civilization needs be gettin' a message ta Kalendor so's they prepare forces ta raze this tower should we fall 'erebouts. Further, one o' ye casters needs ta keep such transport magic handy 'ere tha end comes, ta let 'em know what we be findin' out afore tha rest o' us meet Pharasma.

With the territorial threat of the wyverns gone, Chulyen has plenty of time to scour the cliffs and surroundings for possible lairs and soon thereafter, he spots the wyverns' lair behind some vines. Once you are aware of it, you climb up to it and find a tattered backpack holding a complete set of Ustalavic silverware worth 75 gp, a pouch holding 37 gp among other odds and ends, an old +3 greatsword stamped with the Issian coat-of-arms, and a messenger’s parcel containing 5 green spinels worth 100 gp each.

Well, with the addition of those items from the Wyverns, that leaves us with a net sale value pf 29709gp, or 5941.8gp each.

We currently have two in favor of 'porting, two relatively neutral, and one against, so Grinning_DM, what do you think? Is a day of shopping feasible?

Given that it has been sending extraplanar assassins after us, I have the impression that it has been keeping tabs on us, so I seriously doubt we have the element of surprise... There are also one or two items that I would not mind picking-up if I can...

In game, you can tell that stash of gold looted from the spriggans' lair (i.e. the 6000 gp in assorted coins and jewelry and the coffer worth 500 gp) was different than the rest because it was kept in a coffer with the village's seal as opposed to the rest of the treasure, that was strewn about. Thus, technically, that gold belongs to the village's treasury and the module assumes you will return the money to them if and when you save them. In fact, there is a quest bonus xp for doing so. Just wanted to let you know that before you spend the village's money. Other than that, I have no problem with the spending trip. Just need to know what is Hrafen's other free spell (must be evocation) that he gets at 9th level besides teleport.

Fair enough. We would not want to spend the Village Treasury. Assuming we liquidate everything else that was not claimed by specific people (With the exception of the Flagon and Platter set, which was clearly meant as a Diplomatic gift), we end-up with a total of 26209. Less the cost of a Scroll of Teleport so that Hrafen can do a round-trip in one day and we can start fresh the following morning (1125gp), that means we have 25084gp, or 5016.8 gp each.

If everyone can post their 'shopping lists', Hrafen is happy to do a 'run'; on the markets of Kyonin.

I dinnae know if it be at all possible, but if’n ye kin find ‘em, I could use tha’ followin’ potions.

With that, Bors hands Hrafen a scrawled note, in elvish, of potion types, quantities, and potential strengths, as well as a small pouch containing additional coins. The pouch holds 12 platinum, 220 gold, and 6 silver coins.

Potentially looking for the following, if possible. Funds left over, if any, should be donated to anyone else needing them. DM will need to rule what is available, naturally. Sorry for metagaming here.

Note:

Protection from Evil, 3 or 4 doses, caster levels 3rd or 5th, potential cost 450-1000 gpv.
