Arcane Abilities;


Arcane Reservoir : An arcanist has an innate pool of magical energy that she can draw upon to fuel her arcanist exploits and enhance her spells. The arcanist's arcane reservoir can hold a maximum amount of magical energy equal to 3 + the arcanist's level. Each day, when preparing spells, the arcanist's arcane reservoir fills with raw magical energy, gaining a number of points equal to 3 + 1/2 her arcanist level. Any points she had from the previous day are lost. She can also regain these points through the consume spells class feature and some arcanist exploits. The arcane reservoir can never hold more points than the maximum amount noted above; points gained in excess of this total are lost. Points from the arcanist reservoir are used to fuel many of the arcanist's powers. In addition, the arcanist can expend 1 point from her arcane reservoir as a free action whenever she casts an arcanist spell. If she does, she can choose to increase the caster level by 1 or increase the spell's DC by 1. She can expend no more than 1 point from her reservoir on a given spell in this way.
Arcane Exploit: exploits at levels 1, 3, and 7 are sacrificed for School Savant ability.
Consume Spells: At 1st level, an arcanist can expend an available arcanist spell slot as a move action, making it unavailable for the rest of the day, just as if she had used it to cast a spell. Doing this adds a number of points to her arcane reservoir equal to the level of the spell slot consumed. She cannot consume cantrips (0 level spells) in this way. Points gained in excess of the reservoir's maximum are lost.
School Focus: specialized in Foresight Divination school of magic, gaining all abilities of a wizard of the same level. Opposed schools are Illusion and Necromancy.
*Forewarned: can always act in surprise round, even if you fail the Perception check. Bonus on Initiative equal to half your level. At 20th level, all Initiative rolls are treated as a natural 20.
*Prescience: at beginning of turn, may roll a d20 as a free action. At any point of the round, you may take this d20 as a result of the d20 roll you are required to make. Can do this 3 + Int bonus per day.
*Foretell: at 8th level, for a number of rounds equal to class level, you can help or hinder. If help, allies gain luck bonus of +2 on ability checks, attack rolls, caster level checks, saving throws, and skill checks. If hinder, your enemies take a -2 to those rolls.
Sonic Blast:. 1 reservoir point to attempt a RTA against any creature within 30'. Does 1d6 + Cha mod, plus 1d6 for every two levels after the 1st. The target is deafened for one minute. Fort save for 1/2 damage and to negate deafness.

*Artifact Hunter: +1 trait bonus on Spellcraft to identify properties of magic items. +1 trait bonus to UMD and UMD is a class skill. When first encountering an artifact, you have a 50% +1% per level of recognizing it and some of its abilities, powers, etc.

Elisen is average height and weight for a human Varisian female. She has long dark hair, pulled back into place with a headband. She is stronger than most adventurers who traipse around without the benefit of armor. Elisen's most precious possession is the spellbook she keeps securely tied down with her pack. She carries a Quarterstaff made of some strange ebony tree.



Elisen hails from Korvosa originally. She found her talents were not basic, like her parents, and she knew she would never be happy simply continuing the family business of barrel making. She eventually was apprenticed to a Mage in the area, and built up enough gold, and a sufficiently thick spellbook to try her luck on her own.

She reviewed enough tomes in the mage's library to hear all about amazing famous artifacts rumored to be fairly close by to her home. She has been careful in her travels but there was no doubt that she had to go press her luck. She has wandered upon the village of Truneau, which seems like a decent enough place to use as a home base for her explorations. She's not found any real rumors to follow up on in the last few weeks of her stay. She's a bit at a loss how to proceed currently. She is also scared to go off on her own outside of town, due to the constant threat of the millions of orcs that rule the area.

Her best friend in town is the inn's proprietor, Cham Larringfass, the retired halfling adventurer. After a failed attempt by Cham to introduce Elisen to a nice young lad, they have hit off a friendship. Cham has told her quite a few stories, but none that Elisen thinks would lead to one of those famous artifacts.
