One of my oldest best friends is a lesbian.
My Ex- Wife is… well off her rocker but currently trying the Transgender thing.
My current wife’s Father, Two Uncles and one Aunt are all gay.
In a work environment of 350 or so people we have one openly gay man, who just happens to be the also only openly wiccan. We have a very tolerant work environment and I would find it hard to fathom anyone not being open, but then again what would I know.

Oh, just an e-mail that one friend sent to our Guys night group. I am hoping that it was in jest. If it wasn't, then I will be loosing one of my friends. Certain lines should not be crossed, even in jest. OTOH, I can sometimes be an ass without meaning to as well. I am just hoping that he meant no harm.

Hey all – hows things? My condolences to all those who are suffering pain or illness or withdrawal symptoms (or who’s partners are). Life can be tough sometimes.
My complaint is minor in comparison, but I had a tough night last night ... finally got the baby to sleep about 12.30am (not unusual), went to bed, fell into deep sleep – and was suddenly awoken at about 1.30 by a blaring alarm. In my dazed state I thought it was the smoke alarm, and spent 5 minutes trying to shut it off, then looking for a source of smoke when I couldn’t, until I realised it was the house alarm (which had mysteriously turned itself on – we normally don’t put it on when we are home). By the time I had shut it off the baby and the four year old were both awake, and it was another two hours or so before we got everyone back to sleep. Sigh. Bleary eyed and hard of hearing today ...

You can also get a powdered mix, like buillon, for quick dashi. I was never patient enough to try to make it from scratch. :)
I have not heard good things concerning the powdered mix compared to this method. The Dashi can be made ahead of time and frozen for up to a month so the Miso can be made as needed. I really want some. Scratch always tastes better from my experience
