She's working; I'm not. She's hoping she can get hired on after a month's trial, but insurance will still be a month or so down the road from the official full-hire status. But we're concerned that they may not have a domestic partner insurance option -- which is normally and increasingly becoming common in my locality.

The domestic partner benefit options I've seen have only applied to same-sex partners. Heterosexuals have to get married to qualify (in my old workplaces, anyway).

Not here; there's a bit more latitude. Domestic Partnership is not explicitly defined as a same-sex relationship -- at least not out here, and I believe they refrain from defining as such for PC reasons. Therefore, it's taken advantage of. We've been together almost 4 years and lived under the same roof for 2.5, so it's hard to prove otherwise.

Good thing: my partner showed up at my work with a Starbucks peppermint mocha.

Thanks! I find it amusing that next year, you can't be denied due to pre-existing issues. But boy will they want to put on riders and exclusions and yadda yadda yadda and rake you over the coals with a dry colonoscopy to qualify for affordable coverage. :P

Coincidence: I took the exact same drink to my wife earlier today while she was working the "Christmas Boutique" at the girls' school. It's her favorite.

I'm partial to the gingerbread latte, myself.

OK, is there any Fawtly who is NOT depressed? Anyone? Bueller?

I'd put a badger on the payroll if I could. Do badgers do independent website creation?

I'm semi-not depressed right now. Although, if I don't get an interview in West Texas after the New Year, I won't want to be around me.

Ugh. Sorry to hear that, Uri.

We get to look forward to a similar battle with regards to my wife's rheumatoid arthritis when we switch coverage.

I think it is the time of year. Immediately following Thanksgiving, people are usually depressed due to a combination of tiredness from Thanksgiving and the need to prepare for Christmas/Chanukkah/Kwanzaa/Ramadan(if it's during December that year)/and New Year's right afterwards. It's a blah time, and the weather doesn't help, usually.

I know that's what got me. It's raining today, I am not excited about putting out the damn decorations (I like them, I just hate putting them up, but I don't want to do like my parents and put them up on Christmas Eve. That's just sad.), I'm really not excited about cleaning the house so I can put out the damn decorations, and add in hormones and all I want to do is cry. And eat raw cookie dough. Meh. Tomorrow will be better.

I'm addicted to these things. Then, come January or so, they're going to take them away like the heartless corporate monsters they are.

I'm not sure, but I don't think the eggnog latte is available in nondairy, so I'll just take your word for that. :)

Not so small bright spot in my day: kidlet had a good day at school. So he's playing wii for a half hour before homework time. And he had a very good day as far as not touching other people. Still struggled with being distracted while he was supposed to do his work, but I'll take it. :)

Little known fact. Lighting oneself aflame not only helps repel the mindless undead, but it takes care of all that pesky manscaping at the same time. ;)

I'll have you know that all zombies harmed in that encounter were convicted of trolling, that makes them A) Mindless and having no legal rights, and B) No relation to our esteemed rotting one.

That would be why I drink it. It's nice to have a holiday treat that isn't full of milk and/or butter so I don't get sick when I eat it. So it's pretty much just silk nog and candy canes. Everything else is off limits.

a little bit in miso soup is good.

But the better thing is Egg Nog. can't live in the midwest, especially in the colder states during winter, and not like the stuff. I can probably take a shot of that stuff a day and meet all my caloric requirements.

Indeed it is. I only get it from ONE restaurant around me, the one down the street from my house. The combination platter, extra spicy, with veggie fried rice with extra vegetables, and hot and sour soup. MMMMMMMMmmmmmm... The people there know me so well, they practically have it waiting for me when I call.
