Hey, Taig, are either of those previews from you?

My first paying gig. :)

Congratulations, man. On another note, how does one get involved with this sort of stuff?

I was a patron on another project (Coliseum Morpheum) and Steve put out a call for submissions. I pitched mine, he liked it, and that was that.

See, that time, my timing wasn't so disastrous. :)

So you need to be a patron on at least one project to attract Steve (Russell?)'s notice? Maybe that's the secret... I've been trying to get in on Steve's projects for literally a year--even tried to get Hugo and Wolfgang to vouch for me--but I haven't had any success.

I think it's a matter of having only so much freelancer space available, he gives first preference to patrons. I suspect if he didn't get a response from patrons, it would go out as a general open call. This is all pure speculation on my part. of course.

So, were you looking to do writing or illustration?

Either one. I've technically got both in my portfolio already, what with my stuff for Wayfinder and Kobold Quarterly.

The Questhaven patronage is opening up now. It doesn't seem too expensive to join as a bronze-level patron, which still lets you share your ideas with the other patrons. I dunno.

Gratz!

I remember the first one of yours that was displayed. How many of your templates ultimately made it in? Or was it just that one?

It was just the one.

I remember the teaser for that template, too. :)

Wait, he just said a couple days ago it would be sometime in September and it's a couple hours away from the end of August. Where did this pop up?

I need to see the picture assigned to it, because I still had a hard time grasping it when I was reading your build based from it.

No. One is Steve's (which I reviewed--and put in a caveat about my involvement). I don't know who the other's is.

Speaking of all that, and you bringing up Tarren Dei, you know he's working on the Evocative Sites (and he did a gargoyle book) for Rite Publishing, and he's got a monster in KoTM2, right?

Maybe he only sent the e-mail to existing patrons? We got a discount. :)

Yeah, I'm curious about the Gargoyle Book. And some say I'm the reviewer extrordinaire of the most evocative evocative site book of all time, which he did with Wicht.

Remember group of books, start small and choose just one. When you think you have it understood then move on.

Personally I like the Psalms, just so much of humanity that is covered in poetic form, good and bad.

I never could get into this game. Is something wrong with me? I mean I could get into some aspects of spelljammer and even like darkspace. I just couldn't mix DnD with my cyberpunk.

It started moving too fast. With less time, I can't handle too many supergrowth threads. I'll try and pitch back in from time-to-time. Feel free to link any that you especially want me to riff off of, take on, note, or whatever.

Probably the same reason many Shadowrun fans don't. It's hard to convince non-fans of its über-coolness. I can usually get fantasy gamers to play by using the line "Haven't you ever wanted to shoot a dragon with a bazooka?"

Nope I have already done so in a very strange Amber game. I mean who hasn't right?

Yeah, just leave out the part where, 'It'll be the last thing you do...'

Depends on the dragon and the bazooka and the realm you are in. Worked ok for me, but afterwards I ran like a little b*!#!.

I know why I don't play much: the setting is AWESOME, but I need to take extra Dramamine for the dice pools.
Ah, you gotta do what I did. I find a block of mini six siders at GenCon a few years back (they came at 70+ in regular dice box).

I have about 60 of them for Hero system.

If you do, don't begin with the King James. Beautiful in its prose of its time, but it's not an easy read if you want to enjoy it as a novel and/or a series of short stories.

New American, is my suggestion and I would most heartily agree with Urizen on this one.

In Amber, can't you basically create worlds and wield phenomenal cosmic power, or at least run away really well? Yeah, that might have something to do with your guy surviving.

(Oh, and ignoring the fact that missile launchers in the current edition of Shadowrun suck, anything that doesn't get at least 8 successes on the damage roll just bounces off, and the dragon still gets to roll for damage resistance if it manages to actually hit.)

I'll swing by the store tomorrow to get a bubble wrap envelope. I'll swing by the post office to see what the cost is for shipping it to Savannah and let you know. You could send a check or I'll gladly take Paizo credit.

Like the others back in May, it's in good condition (I make it a point to not purchase a book with considerable wear & tear or writing with few exceptions).

It is making me giggle like a school girl. Not sure if that is good or bad to be honest.

Plus, the King James is not that hard of a read. Especially since I read all sorts of books. ~grins~ It is an easier read than some of my Biochemistry or Physics books. Or some of the history books that I have read.
