Yeah...but, let me put it in another way: imagine if all of your role playing games were written in the language era of the KJV ... certain things would be lost in translation. Incidentally, it's also an interesting story as to how the KJV edition came to be.

Me too. I guess "The" usernames are just inherently better than plain ones, just like how "The" bands are better than plain-bellied Sneetches. Wait, am I mixing metaphors here?

Yes but that is ok.

I have heard some of how the KJV came to be, but I would be interested in learning more.

As for the period language, it can't be worse than Shakespear or Bewolf or Chaucer.

Edit - Plus, that is what a dictionary (or the internet) is for. To look up terms and words that I do not understand.

HoH and MMIV shows up now and then, but MMV? I've seen it once and I bought it on the spot.

Nevertheless, I'll keep my eye open. Heck, I came across a bunch of DragonMech & 6th ed Gamma World books within the past seven days. I was giddy!

Depends on the dragon and the bazooka and the realm you are in. Worked ok for me, but afterwards I ran like a little b##%*.

In Amber, can't you basically create worlds and wield phenomenal cosmic power, or at least run away really well? Yeah, that might have something to do with your guy surviving.

(Oh, and ignoring the fact that missile launchers in the current edition of Shadowrun suck, anything that doesn't get at least 8 successes on the damage roll just bounces off, and the dragon still gets to roll for damage resistance if it manages to actually hit.)

Depending on the character, we were playing an exclusively shadowkinght game. pawns being used by the big boys, I did not in fact have that level of power that is normative in Amber. if the dragon had managed to reach it would have been game over dude. Which is why I ran just in case the missile did not do enough damage.

~shrugs~ True. Of course, that is one of the benefits to reading history. You understand some of the context a bit better.

Too tired and sore to go back and read the last 500 Posts. Hurt my shoulder at work yesterday morning, then had to spend all night at a friend's place helping her edit and cut a DVD Audition tape for her to enter The Amazing Race. SO on top of having a very sore shoulder, I didn't get to bed until 6am this morning, then had to look after the kids from 12pm (and they did nothing but act up and fight the whole time).
Have to catch up on some PbPs then I think I'm off to bed.

Later All. Have Fun!

Hey AZ. I'm just glad I have tomorrow off as well (doctor gave me today and tomorrow off) or I'd be rooted.

Oh and did you see the Feminine Zombie Product on Uri's FB Wall? lol

I don't think so. I'll have to check it out later, when I'm home.

And, with that, I really should do some work. Later!

Gooooooooooooooooood morning Fawltyhouse!

Starting off today pretending yesterday didn't happen. Got a meeting in a half hour and a few paper tigers to slay for it. Here's hoping the day goes smoothly...

Probably a good idea. Every day is a new opportunity.

Anyway, how are you doing otherwise? Did you notice that I got my wizard class up?

Good Luck FDM. I hear Paper Tigers are adverse to a little fire, so carry a few burning torches and you should be fine. ;)

I really, really like this. Your wizards are very otherworldly, not just spellbooks with legs. I've been tinkering with the "linked item" idea from before Pathfinder came out, and I have to say I REALLY like your take on it. I'd like to e-mail you my beta stuff sometime- it's REALLY rough, though.

I'd make a joke about it, but there was a considerably large fire in the neighborhood where my job USED to be located- a lot of iconic buildings were destroyed. I do hope they rebuild.

It's really blown up without you. You should get back in there and show 'em how to swing.

It started moving too fast. With less time, I can't handle too many supergrowth threads. I'll try and pitch back in from time-to-time. Feel free to link any that you especially want me to riff off of, take on, note, or whatever.

Sharoth: better yet, move to DFW and sign up for one of my classes. :3

Well, Chuck returned to town after a long absence spent living with pygmie penguins in Anarctica, only to find that no one had realized he was gone. Pamela and Robert were relieved to find that Isabel was safe and sound after her run in with the evil Dr. Gand. Meanwhile, Brain and Tom were puzzled as to how anyone could get through their security system and make off with their plans for a new hybrid.....No, wait! That's my soap opera.

Damn. People don't want pie for breakfast anymore.

Well, I hope everyone has a great day. My Okie friend may be driving down tonight for a full weekend of LABOR DAY GAMEORAMA. I probably won't be around much after today.

Cool!

If you want to put players with people on the board, I'll be gaming with Aztrucomon and Sarth (they don't post very much, though.) I don't think the other two guys post at all.

Does anyone other than me still see that damned APG thread in this section, even though it says "Moved to Paizo Products"? I left a post message for PMG to see if he can fix that.
