I'm also tired. Not the "time for bed", but the "I give up" kind of tired. I'm working on getting a job back home so I can move back to my friends & family. I'm tired of waiting, I'm tired of employers that won't give you a "yes/no" answer and I'm tired of being in an industry (web developer) where every job listing I see has 20 job requirements and none of them match to the next job listing.

I'm tired of going over to the WotC boards to get scraps of information and seeing every announcement by them splinter the fan base again (3E vs 4E) and again (4E vs Essentials) and again (Booster card 'randomization'). I'm tired of watching the ENnie awards on NeonCon and hearing WotC fans claim the awards are rigged because it's a popularity vote, yet the 'most popular' game (4E) was snubbed by the nomination judges. I'm tired of edition wars BS, especially when most of the flames I see are started by 4E players bad-mouthing 3.5/Pathfinder.

I'm tired of living paycheck to paycheck. I'm tired of the realization that 401k is the biggest piece of crap ever laid on the average worker (I ran into this one when I had to clean out my previous job's 401k to pay a mortgage until the house sold, THEN found out that all that money I put in was subject to taxes after I cashed out - something they never seemed to mention when you sign up for it). And I'm tired of companies laying off hard working folks while VPs and Directors and Chairmen get ANOTHER bonus because this year's income wasn't as bad as last year's, even if it was a loss.

*deep breath*

Okay, I just needed to let that out. Thanks!

Yeah, their sour grapes sucked. "We've got a million more fans than you, but yet you outvote us. WAAAAAA!"

Hey Dr. Double Honors, could you take a look at my lesson plan final? I was supposed to create a lesson plan and build it. Please. :D

So, we've been under t-storm watch from 6 pm through 10 pm. Here it is 11:30 and the t-storms finally get here. God bless the weathermen.

Well, the party accepted a dinner invitation from a mysterious wizard ensconced in a mobile castle with four huge chicken legs propelling it along the bogs of Tir Na Nog. Inside they are treated to a dinner of curries, while their host attempted to draw from them ...

Oh wait, that's my PbP .. =D

It sounds like a good one, though!

Monday was pretty meh for me...

I think all those years of not sleeping are finally catching up to me. I have been sooooo tired this past week, and I went to bed early pretty much every night I was away too, so it's not lack of sleep on that end. :/

I have so much work to get done at home here (work work, not house work) and I'm just not getting the time to do it and keep up with PbPs and you guys. It's starting to get me a bit stressed. :/

Of course this doesn't compare with everything that a lot of you others are going through, so for you guys you can ignore my pathetic ranting and return to dealing with stuff that is actually important.

Yes... draw from them... keep going... ;)

The Exchange

So, I've been working my way through The X-Files. (Stopped watching sometime in season 4 when it was actually on the air.)

Seasons 1-5 and the first film were pretty good, but it seems like season 6 went in more of an 'actual supernatural events' rather than the prior 'could be supernatural, could be government experiments' angle they had previously worked. I mean, Mulder/Morris body swapping, the ghosts on Christmas eve. The last several episodes felt more campy than conspiratorial. Is this how the rest of the series goes, or is it just a phase?

Overworked stress is legitimate. I hope you're able to get yourself caught up.

I still have to catch up on 3 PbPs from when I was away (and unlike here, I can't skim the 2-3 pages of each, I have to read each individual Post so I can keep up with the story), as well as Scan and e-mail around 20 pages of sign off forms and invoices for some work I did last week, plus input 20 pictures and add 3 new members into a web site I manage, plus create a spread sheet and enter the details of over a thousand couples into it. And all of that should have been done by Sunday Night. It is Now Monday Night and I am getting ready to go to bed because once more I am falling asleep at the keyboard and have to be up in 5 and half hours for work. I was supposed to have most of today off (which I was going to use to catch up on a chunk of that stuff), but my shifts got changed and I instead had to work all day.

Good morning, everyone. Thanks for the condolences.

rambly stuff:
My mom didn't want a service, so I just had to take care of the release form to allow her cremation. My aunt will be taking the ashes. I'm glad I travelled there last week. My son went with me the last time, and my mom was disappointed she didn't get a drawing from my daughter (she's really coming along in a more anime-inspired style). So I asked my son to make a picture for my mom while we were at the hotel. He drew a stick figure clown, which really tickled my mom. As much as I harp on my kids, I really do think they are amazing.

It's weird. I didn't seem to be affected by it this weekend. Shock, I guess. It's hitting a little hard today.

Off to work now. I'll try to post later.

Well, as your GM in one of those PbPs, take your time and let Bethany just coast along. I don't want you to feel obligated =)

Glad to hear you are doing OK, Taig.

Spoiler:
I can't speak for your own experience, but I know I was very numb when my mom passed. It took a while before the finality of things sunk in, until that point I almost felt guilty that I wasn't sadder. My greiving came later as I thought of things that reminded my of my mom, and when we had to go through her effects and get her house ready for sale. So anyway, what I'm trying to say is grief kinda creeps up on you in weird ways. Just try to ride with it, and take care of yourself =)

"Numb" is a good description. We already went through my mom's stuff when she got transferred to the nursing home, but I know what you mean about the reminders. They were starting to hit yesterday.

Again, thank you and everyone else for your support during this time.

I am "acting supervisor" today. I have yet to exercise my power in any particularly diabolical ways. Any suggestions?

I used to actually have a TPS report. I suppose it's not that much of a coincidence because we have acronyms for everything.

That's hilarious.

Of course it would probably impact productivity, which would make me a bad acting supervisor, but it would almost be worth it.

Liberty's Edge

You could order pizza for lunch!

Why is this diabolical? Think about when your regular supervisor gets back. All they will hear is how cool you were for buying pizza and why don't THEY ever do that?

mmmm....pizza...

We all mourn differently. There's really no right or wrong way to feel, and sometimes it's weirdly random.

Take care!

Spoiler:
When my grandmother was passing my father called my school when I was in the middle of class. When he told me it was the last time I would speak to my grandmother I got this is overwhelming sense of dread. I pretty much was hysterically crying as I told her goodbye in the front office.

I can't imagine the pain of losing a parent.
Take care
