Sound plausable?

Sure. What are they sacrificing the slaves? Or just using some for slaves and some for offerings? Are the bandits in it for the cash or are they True Believers?

I just had a creepy idea that the Clerics have a side business with candle and book making. Maybe even nice chairs with hair used for the backing and seats.

Hmmmm..... I might steal that for something else....

EDIT: Stealing CJ's idea for ToTP!!!!!

Runs around nekked except for the GL ring!!

Oh come on what a great way to get rid of bodies... turn them into candles and artwork.

Yes, but there will be ... bits left over (you can't digest hair, so unless you want your clerics to cough up hairballs...)

And, remember, bone is often mistaken for ivory. >:)

Bandits are in it for the cash and the promise of not being slaves/offerings.

Spoiler:
sounds like a good excuse to throw Nyarlathotep in there; he's kinda the gobetween type. Has a zillion avatars; some of which are usually mythological beings in their own rite....Baron Samedi, I think Pazuzu......etc...etc....really just Nyarlathotep. He farts around with mortals a lot; likes to show up when an outer god or great old one is about to manifest and get everything going. He's like the head of the road crew, and C'thulhu would be the band.

Spoiler:
They will ALL be making an apperance in some sort of fashion. The way I see it, is in order for the Cthulhian Pantheon to gain a foothold here, they will all have to "work together" to take over/destroy the Main Universe. The first clerics they run into are worshippers of Chaugnar Faugn. A buddy of mine got me the d20 Cthulhu book for a wedding present.

Well I killed Diane's sorceress in last nights game. I don't think she's pleased with me.

Chauggy, eh? They should have some tcho tcho's in there too......little cannibal bastards. Good for low level freaks; substitute for goblins/orcs/whathaveyou.
In some other books, it's surmised that tcho tcho's might be earthly representations of the Men of Leng, so that satyr in the woods? He's worse than all THAT.

Also, Mac:

Spoiler:
the cool thing about Choggey is he has lotsa brothers/cousins/nephews or whatnot; ergo a punier version (built around an ogre or something) could hypothetically be the last BBEG at the end of the first adventure for little tiny 1-3 level pukes; modified upward a little bit depending on how tough they are.

Finally:

Spoiler:
Choggey can be alluded to by guys selling statues of the Indian god Ganesha; elephant headed guy of good fortune.....

The clerics were already going to kinda look like that. Filed teeth and all that. I just wasn't going to call the Tcho-Tcho. They were just going to be corrupted humans/half-elfs.

Mac:

Spoiler:
Maybe a good intro would be to have the PCs run into a bandit who 'Knew Too Much' and is on the run after discovering too much about the cultists his band have been selling slaves to. Perhaps the cultists send the tcho tchos after him, makes for a good intro battle, then the group has to find out who send the beasties and where the bandits are.

Heathy:

Spoiler:
No one in the Main Universe knows anything about these guys expect in VERY vague legends...like THOUSANDS of years old. The bandits themselves don't expect anything but coin and the occasional heal from the clerics for use of the underground facilities. The clerics only expect the people brought alive and no questions asked. The Cthulhian Pantheon want utter secrecy before being brought in. All except one.

Actually, the intro involves my wife! She is Elvish Royalty working with a Merchant Caravan and she helps hires the PC to protect the caravan as they travel on the road. Why doesn't she reveal herself you ask? Because her father has fallen under the spell of Hast-r (I'm not gonna fully say his name) and wants to use her as H's vessel on Alanthas (my world).

Spoiler:
It's in one notebook. I've got the initial beginnings started (meetings, given the job of protection.) and have gotten the initial bandit encounter done. The first fight is when the bandits try to attack the caravan and (hopefully!) fail. Upon winning, the PC's find a Stone that acts like a compass. When they point it in the direction of the Bandit Camp, it glows green. The Bandits use an old abandoned graveyard as their camp. When they fight the BBG of the Graveyard Bandits, one of the clerics of Chaugnar Faugn happenes to be with him and has some sort of key on him that lets the PC's into the underground tombs where the clerics have made their base.

I have found in the past that Trolls are just the right combination of whoop ass for most parties. CR be damned some encounters are just tougher.

Of course I use replicant warrior trolls when I really want to freak out and scar a party.

The thing is, they'll be expecting that. "A graveyard, full of dug up and opened coffins." Then you find a secret passageway down to the actual catacombs filled with "ancient, stone tombs and a nefarious language written on the walls. Upon closer inspection, it seems to be in human blood" SCREAMS undead. I would rather have the clerics attack them and try to EAT THEM ALIVE then have an undead do it. More creepy that way.

Plus, the bandits know that they've thrown their lot in with something sinister. I might have one try to surrender and even join with them to try and end the clerics.
