I did take certain liberties and assumptions when creating equipment list.
Kiptera started out as ranger elsewhere for a few years without advancing because of lack of opportunity, part of her subplot. The first investment she did was buy the horse/saddle. The remaining moneys went into other less expensive gear. The year she spent in Tanner's Crossing, I added a small bit of salary. She aint rich, doesn't have high value stuff nor alot of gear. If it can't fit on her horse, she'll think twice about purchasing it or swap out/upgrade what she does have.
Now where did she stow that high-faluting society silk dress and diamond encrusted hairpins?
Kiptera out.

Do you think it would be in bad taste for a priest of Shelyn to own an ass and name it Zon-Kuthon?
Modern comparison : you have a boss who is a good natured lady with a bit of a temper . she has the misfortune to have a brother who is a wanted criminal but who is still her brother and still think of him as family .
You have just named your bicycle Zon Kuthon so you can joke in her presence you sit on her brotherWhat do you think ?

Anybody out there have a GM Mastery Guide with helpful tables for naming your riding donkey?
Well, the GameMastery Guide has a Random Adventuring Party Name Generator. That's the closest to what you want. Let's give it a try, rolling on the 1st and 3rd columns:
1d100 ⇒ 46 Potent
1d100 ⇒ 33 Demons
Your riding donkey is hereby named "Potent Demons".
:)

In regards to the Campaign Journal. If you hadn't figured it out yet, It is a synopsis from Kiptera viewpoint. Feel free to post your PC opinions. I promise not to metagame with divulged subplot info. There are gems of subplot hooks and side treks Xealot can mine to add flavor to the campaign and flesh out his world if everyone adds an occasional voice. Makes for a richer place for all of us.
As in their opinions of the days so far for each and everyone of us? I have a interesting idea for a first day.

I was going to help name it for you with the Game Mastery Guide, but someone beat me to it.
As for gold, I guess I forgot to mention, Max gold for your class. Feel free to make any purchases before you guys set out from Tanner's Crossing.
Okay, I had used average gold for Wizard but will adjust gear.
A full healer's kit takes a bit of gold but then again, don't really need much as a Witch.

Oracle gets gold equal to a sorceror or a cleric, would you say?

Politely worded,
Courteous that he left word of his departure,
and constructive criticism on where to improve in his opinion that lays no fault email.
Oooooo, He's good. I like him.
As this is my first PBP, I've no comparative opinion. But I may be able to provide an interpetive one. I believe that DM Xealot may have less time than some of his players, plus he did accept all players which can be difficult to juggle competing interests from different timezones while keeping on track.
From the first two days (really 100+ posts?), while this is Xealots campaign world, this has been a character driven game with main plot nudges from Xealot. I gonna see where this takes Kiptera, help flesh out this world of his. Hope he is mapping and putting NPC's into a binder for reference later. I am using simple notecards as player.

Thanks for the compliment DM Aron.I'm trying for homey feel of someone that would fit into a village like Tanner's Crossing.
What would you like to talk on Isis' Background?
Aron here.
I was just curious about the character's past since they both appeared to have been raised in the same town then perhaps they've run into eachother before?
I was wondering if when she joins up with everyone that it would be a happy or unwelcome reunion.

kk, I just posted something in game to indicate a pair of her associations.
Simon, Cha 18, Paladin of Erastil (same religion) would be seen as the natural guy leader type.
Denis, rogue with rumors of theft in village, would be someone Isis was warned to stay away from by her mom. Though, if Isis were to get in trouble with the village youth, he would likely be someone she'd incorporate into any tale on how trouble started.
Kiptera, is a strong and independent person which would be someone that Isis both admires and fears. It is someone that Isis would see as not being intimidated by her mom and not care what other people think.
Mercy, is big like a man and dresses in man's clothing. She is seen as a nice person who is strong and independent. A strong and independent person but someone who spends way too much time hanging around people who drink at the Mug. Her mother would not fully approve of Mercy's lifestyle; so, Isis can't fully approve either.
Caelin, is someone who drinks way too much to get approval. Isis has been taught heavy drinking or even social drinking is wrong and to be avoided. She thus associates such a person with trouble and problems and would naturally avoid them especially when they are drinking or have been drinking recently.

Ahh I see. I just wanted to know since I didn't want to have my character react to her if he never met her as seems like the case since he never would've spoken to her as you say, she would've stayed away from him.

Based upon your background, my character probably wouldn't feel so charitable towards your character.
Offering free healing and running an apothecary in Tanner's Crossing. You've probably been cutting into my mom's business of village witch. She's probably had a steady drain of regular customer's since Venedictos moved to Tanner's Crossing three years ago.

Black Tom, I hate to see you go, but thank you for informing us. Yes, it does get incoherent at times, what having 9 to 10 people posting at different times through out the day.
As far as important things in the town, I will post it shortly. As and aside, I am willing to take criticism or ideas on ways to improve my gaming. This is only my second time DM'ing PbP and it is a little more... frantic than DM'ing in real life.
Tanner's Crossing - Neutral Good Village
Population - 100-150 dependent upon hunters and traders who only live in the area during certain parts of the year.
Tanner's Crossing was founded only about 30 years ago and has long been nothing more than a place to stay for a few days to get out of the wild and to trade for other goods. Farming become more prominent, as the fertility of the land was realized. A few specialized workers moved in and the rest is history.
Important People-
Mayor - Igor Brahm Igor is and elderly man, with a bald head and grey whiskers on his chin. He is exceptionally tall, and would be taller, were he not stooped over with age. His sight and health are both failing him, but his wisdom and mental capacities are just as sharp as they were 20 years ago. Igor is one of the founding fathers of Tanner's Crossing and knows everything there is to know about its inception.
Sheriff - Risca Risca is a rather stoic, middle-aged dwarf, who has lived in Tanner's Crossing for a little over 25 years. His job is rather boring, rarely having any problems worse than a bar fight or petty squabbles. He takes no flak from anyone and never backs down. Fiercely loyal, he isn't afraid to tell someone what he really thinks and refuses to beat around the bush.
Councilman - Haggard Another of the original founders of Tanner's Crossing, Haggard was originally a mercenary hired to escort the wagons out. He never left and eventually contacted Risca, his dear friend with whom served together in the militia with, to move to Tanner's Crossing. He taught himself to cook and make ale and settled down and had a family. His wife died in child birth and he has raised his daughter Claire with nothing more than the help of the townspeople.
Councilwoman - Tanya Pell Aside from being quite the talker and gossiper, Tanya overseas the the town treasury. She also has her own shop, which rarely makes a profit... for obvious reasons. Few people can afford to shop at a place aptly named "The Finer Things."
Store Owner - Kender Leftfoot Kender is a... very unique individual, even by Halfling Standards. His shop, Oddities and Intriguements has a little of everything, from baubles, to books, to potions and prayer beads. The man is exceptionally smart but, well just plain odd.
PC's, the PC's are important people in the town, one way or the other, some of you, or your family or friends have/own land/business etc. You are important. The thing is, you will become even more important. You will become the future leaders of this town, if you so choose. What happens next, partially/ultimately is up to each of you.
-Xealot

Ouch 150 people top ?
That means that, at the range of age we begin , there must be no more than 10 people (assuming a 5 year range and a 60 years old average age of death ... )
Given the town is frontier and only 30 years from the founding, the distribution curve is likely more skewed.
Most people of the farming and hunter sort move and locate in their earlier years of late teens to early thirties (human scale here, adjust for other races appropriately). Someone in their forties would be more an exception to the rule to move to the area and start clearing land.
There would be an additional skew of age based on when and how land titles were awarded. Was it a mass rush like the opening of territories west of the Mississippi River or was it a Baron or Monseigneur who had to convince people to resettle to the area by offering them a stating stake.
The first would mean a mass establishment of claims right at the founding while the other would be a mix of farms established over the first five to ten years as the main attractors for following settlements.
Most of the initial people to set up farms and claims are likely to have fairly large families to help divide up the labour of working the land which means more children are likely to be born to those initial families and be under the age of 30.
Tanner's Crossing is just starting likely into its true second generation as people born of the founders have matured, married and started to found families of their own. These children are likely under the age of 10 for the most part.
A hundred years from now it might be a bit more even in distribution but I would not suspect it at this point.

![]() |

The first group of people that settled numbered in or around 30. Mostly singles. Few families were in the area until about 20 years ago, when the village was better established. It was far from a mad rush for land, but more and more people started moving in. The average age is probably in the 30's, although several of the old timers, as younger people starting out on their own are in Tanner's Crossing as well. There are very few teens although their are quite a few children (who are not counted in the population.)

Turning in for the night. I look forward to reading everyone's action. While this may be time for Kiptera to shine, I suspect the fighters and spellcaster may be taking center stage soon.
Simon, your posting of primary and secondary positions for all of us is very helpful. Thanks for doing this and getting us back on track.
Can't wait to unveil my Hackmaster +15 sword.
Attack 1d20 + 15 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 15 + 2 = 19
Dmg 2d8 2d8 + 15 + 2 ⇒ (3, 5) + 15 + 2 = 25

Negative everyone is probably within 100ft, or at most just a little further away, with the closest being about 60ft away. People said not to separate the group.
Unless you want to be separated, in which that's fine as well, I just need to know.
Okay. We'll just be behind.
Something akin to...
The party at 100
Denis, Caelin and Kip at 60
Kobolds at 0.
That works!

It's kinda sad that not everyone got to introduce themselves when back in town. I was interested in what Mercy and the rest of the group would think after Denis reveals himself. Afterall, Tieflings don't have a good reputation in Golarian. Not to mention Mercy hadn't seen what he looked like under the hood.

There are two-plus days of travel to ret-con such things into.

@Venedictos: WOW! Nice Diplomancy roll. Were you a Kobold in a previous life?
As for the two days of travel, Kiptera would've taken any opportunity to hunt small game enroute for the stew pot at night. Ya'll can snack on the rations when you're walking and burning daylight. Is Kiptera the only with a horse? Regardless she would have ridden ahead and spent most of her time acting like "Mantracker", coming back every regularly to ensure folks were on the trail and moving at a decent pace. There might be some "Constructive critism" about rushing the walkers when she is all high and mighty on the horse.
And yes she would spar a bit with the flail but not the crossbow. She has two score and no more. Instead she would use her backup sling and rocks picked up around campsite. She ain't one to sing and so far not much personal has been volunteered, aside from hailing from the StoneHaven Clan a few mountains away, no location given, just generalations.
Mostly she let the others talk and enjoyed their company, laughed at the jokes and provided geographic insights of the immediate and forthcoming area.

A few insights given out on the upcoming APG and some of the rule changes you can expect for classes.
For example, the Oracle gets there bonus spells one level earlier.
Witch doesn't have the bonus spells tied to the selection shape of their familiar (if I'd known that then I wouldn't have chosen Skitter, oh well, I like my lizard. Here, lizard lizard.)
