So I have got a couple of low ranked picks from the Lottery, both of which I am very excited to play in. But neither of them is a Pathfinder game.
I have seen a couple of posts where people refer to open games, what are these??
Are there people who are going to be running open games into the wee hours??
I really want to play as much as humanly possible.
So what else happens at paizocon?

Well, there's the drinking and orgies...oh, you meant gaming.
There are a couple of meeting rooms set aside for open gaming. It wasn't as active as I would have hoped last year but it is a good place to look for other folks that aren't currently engaged.
I ran a Star Wars game last year after the close of the show and drew a number of drop-in players by just putting my books and minis on the table while I prepped the game. I saw more than a couple of other games going on but don't know if they were set up ahead of time or were pick-up games.
There were definitely games going on after hours - including one below my balcony in the courtyard on Thursday evening before the event (I didn't mind at all, I'm just pointing out that it was happening) and I played in a D20 Terminator game before things started on Friday.
I'm not in very many organized games myself so am going to be looking for stuff to get into. Trying to put together a Star Wars game Friday morning and would like to run/play some other modern, sci-fi, horror, or post-apoc stuff while I'm there (I actually get enough fantasy gaming in at home so it's not my main focus at Paizocon).

The open gaming rooms were much more active at night than during the day, but with the increase in badges this year, there's the potential for many more people without set events during the con itself.
I wonder if people set up sign-up sheets listing board/card/rpg games they plan to run unofficially on the door to the rooms with a day or so notice if people would use it more than last year.

The first rule of Paizocon: there is no Paizocon.
The second rule of Paizocon: what happens at Paizocon, stays at Paizocon.

I'm planning on bringing The Stars Are Right, would definitely be up for a game or two of Werewolf, playing in open games when I can and I might run a pick up late night Pathfinder off the cuff game (read: I would be coming to the table with a concept, books and not much else ... kind of like the gaming equivalent to free writing).

I have one "official" game each day, but am looking to cram in as much gaming as possible.
Before I moved a few years ago, I was in 4-5 games a week. I'm down to just 1 these days. I'm also used to going to 3-4 cons a year and staying up all weekend gaming. Sadly, much of the group of gamers I know still stick close to home with the cons I used to go to with them. A few folks I know from local games, like Mearrin, but am looking to connect with more fo the Pathfinder community at large.
I'm likely to be setting up camp in the open gaming rooms for most of the weekend. I plan on bringing a board/card game or two (Citadels and Dalmuti are most likely), but am also hoping lots of pick up Pathfinder games form up.
Sign up sheets, or even just notices of times/locations of when folks plan on running something, would be awesome!!!

After all, SOMEONE has to teach me how to play Dominion. :P
I have all the Dominion expansions, but getting them all to Seattle might be expensive. They take up a lot of space, and all those cards get heavy. Lemme see what I can work out. It's my new favorite, non-Pathfinder game, so I'll try to indoctrinate you sometime during the Con.

Oh Dominion... I would so own you if not for my utter hatred for your horrible logo. Seriously, that's the only thing that stops me from buying it. Hopefully the second edition will improve things.
Certainly someone else in Seattle can bring it so you don't have to.

If you log in and go to the event schedule, you will see that each event has a check box next to it. All of the lottery events are full (and say so). All of the other events (mostly seminars and PFS games) are open events. As long as an open event doesn't conflict with other things you've signed up for, you can add it to your schedule by checking its check box, no lottery required.
Also, there will be a room for people to play unscheduled games, which will be open all day and all night.

I imagine I'll be hanging out in the open gaming room a lot.
I'm running two games on Saturday already, but my friends have just about talked me into following it up with a quick session of Dragon Age in open gaming. Either way, I'll be bringing it, plus Munchkin, plus whatever I buy at the con.Maybe even some Pathfinder.
This is my first PaizoCon, but my experience at other gaming cons is if you start unpacking and set some books and dice or cards on the table, and maybe a DM screen, you'll fill up with players in no time. :)

Yes.
There's also a Candy Land tournament, a mass game of charades (those get a little crazy), and I think we've added a Paint Ball Tournament on I-405 to the mix, too. (But don't tell Cosmo he's the only one invited!)
Anyone see the paintball episode of Community? Really funny!
OK ... back on topic ...

Hah! We have ways of eliminating such weapons!
Hah yourself! I play my Decoy Missile card to neutralize your Sprint Interceptor. Prepare for the Ten Fingers of MIRV-y DOOM!

The way we play, Twister is far more dangerous than an interstate paintball tournament.
