Sully,

I don't know if you have looked at Andrezi yet or not, but if you have I did make a change to his alignment from NG to CN with good tendencies. Just seemed to fit the con-man/ne'er-do-well concept a bit better.

Thanks for casting Copypasta, Alis. As a non-caster, I appreciate the help! ;)

'Rath is updated to the elite array +1 and all stats now reflect it.

With a faint smile, Alis raises her silver goblet in acknowledgement and replies, "When at all times one's breath is restricted," she lays a slender hand upon her abdomen to indicate her corset, "one learns to favor the short and leisurely walk over the lengthy one."

Not trying to rain on your parade or anything, but after looking over your character I felt compelled to tell you that Sully generally doesn't like the Rich Parents trait.

Rath steeples his fingers before his face and bows deferentially in response. "It is good to see that wisdom and beauty are not strangers in you, Mistress. I give thanks for your many kindnesses."

Thanks, Talomyr. Aye, I'm not a big fan of it. Not that it's game breaking, but it doesn't feel in line with the rest of the traits. I generally disallow it, and I think I will in this game as well.

I've been reading over everything, and I'm very excited. I have my work cut out for me picking and choosing, but I want everyone to know that even if you don't make it in the game, these characters are awesome. I'll update tomorrow whether or not I'll make the announcement or if I have to push it until Tuesday.

Dang I avoid the internet for a SINGLE DAY, and come back and find this thread totally filled with awesome contenders.

Well- if you're still taking any suggestions-
I would like to suggest a gnome cleric of...Nethys.

The gnome has half been affected by the Bleaching already- thus, her coloration is markedly different between her right and her left sides (one blue haired ponytail, for instance- one shock white) - just like You Know Who (no, not Voldemort- Nethys!)

She's perhaps a little unhinged, shades of bipolar perhaps- with a depressive Bleached side, and a manic, optimistic rich blue side, as it were. Like Nethys, she represents that duality. She converted to His worship once the Bleaching started- she feels that to save herself from Bleaching all the way- she needs the extremes that Nethys embodies...

I'm not saying she's a cackling maniac- but she does have an *edge*, we could say...

I'm not sure of all the Pathfinder prestige classes, but eventually she'd probably shoot for their version of like Mystic Theurge- arcane and divine magic (further duality!).

I know many gnomes attend the Acadamae (sp?) in good ol' Korvosa- I'm guessing she has a father she's estranged from,, who teaches there...

Basically, she knows she's headed for a date-worse-than-death (the Bleaching) if she doesn't reinvigorate her life in a dramatic way, and quickly- hence adventuring is her absolute Last Hope, as she sees it...

I think she's kind of a nihilist, really, but she covers it up with thrill-seeking- she might even be a bit of a pyromaniac...

If this sounds at all good, let me know and I will roll her up per your specifications given earlier in the thread.

I can post a ton and am a professional writer...

Artreus is all made over in the elite +1 style and ready to go!
Hope he didn't get all dressed up for nuthin!

By all means, go for it! It sounds like a very interesting character!

Thanks for the heads-up. As I mentioned in my first post, my hope was to reprise one of my favorite characters who just happens to come from a high-born family. I figured that if I were to claim such a background then I should be willing to pay for it with a trait.

I've reworked Alis' equipment, etc. to reflect your preference, though I'd still like to stick with her established background (and clothes) for flavor reasons.

I feel bad for all the extra players we seem to have here, especially our lurkers on the Kingmaker game. I might run a game for you guys after Sully and Talomyr have sorted out who their players are. What's one more game, I only run 4 and play in 5 ;)

Well I would like to throw my hat into the mix. As a note I belive I am playing in the kingmaker game that you are playing in, as opposed to the one you are running. In that one I am Strovan.

Regardless CotCC was one of the adventures I really wanted to play, and having read a little of your current kingmaker game (I stopped once I got accepted into another kingmaker game) I am quite interested in playing in a game. One thing that is appealing is the quick pace you run, our current game is a little slow for my tastes and I have the time to post many times a day.

Finally 2 notes on my PC. First of I took the sorcerer bloodline of Fey because it was the closest to what I really wanted which was Touched by Shelyn, the goddess of beauty and love. Secondly at the end of my background is a recent traumatic event that made me finally step up and vow vengeance on Gaedren Lamm I am perfectly happy to change it if you have a better plot hook.

And yes I realize that is akin to counting my chickens before they hatch.

Coincidentally, I'm retconning to a Greatsword. Curveblade just makes no sense whatsoever. It's too rare. It's conceievable that my father, a former soldier, could have taught me the Greatsword, but the Curveblade? Unlikely.

Screw it... I will be running Curse of the Crimson Throne for lurkers and people who weren't lucky enough to get a place in either Sully or Talomyr's game. Details will follow once their games are up and running.

While I wouldn't want to see a fellow DM collapse from exhaustion, that's certainly a generous spirit! After reading thru everyone's backstories, I'd love to adventure alongside Lily, Ravarath, and Taer — I think our stories and personalities would work well together. :)

Sully: Your comments about "rich parents" being an oddball trait really got me to thinking last night. Simply put, it falls short of delivering the sort of fluff and crunch needed to model a well-to-do noble. More troubling is the fact that unlike other traits that remain pertinent (to some degree) throughout a character's career, much like many of 3.5's +1LA races, "rich parents" isn't worth the cost [of the trait] once a few levels have passed.

Since your comment was the one that got me thinking about this, as a fellow DM I'd like to hear your thoughts on a couple traits I designed to address this shortcoming. After all, if a players wants a benefit then they should darn well be willing to pay for it and not expect a freebie from the DM.
Traits: Noble Thoughts

EDIT: Oops! Still getting used to changing aliases. ^_^;

I'll keep you all posted.

@Sully- you run an awesome game buddy, i'll be hard-pressed to compete :P

I too appreciate the mention, and as a newcomer to this forum I agree there are some great people on this site (hopefully flattery will get me somewhere :P).

Likewise, thanks for the mention. It would be an honor to fight alongside such courageous allies. I can barely sleep, my desire for vengeance is so great - but wait I must, and wait I shall.

@ Dm Sully - Alas - RL has hit me with work (writing web-games for DORA THE EXPLORER, no less!) - so I doubt I'll be able to generate a half-Bleached gnome in any sorta timely fashion, I fear- esp. given what a bumper crew of folks here are already rarin' and rearin' to go...

Thanks for your willingness to consider my character though- and please let me know when I can start lurking on this no doubt excellent new campaign... my full name, one word, at gmail dot com

@Alexander- I might have more time later this week (the writing gig ends soonish) - so maybe I can take a crack at your Council of Thieves- my full name, one word, @ gmail dot com.

I believe Alexander is planning on doing another Curse of the Crimson Throne. I am the one doing Council of Thieves. I'd be glad to hear what you had in mind for a character, or were you considering the bleached out gnome for that one too.

As I promised my players first crack, here is who I've got so far:

Nazard - Cardon Quinn (Cleric/Conjurer)
Talomyr - Andrezi Zeldana (Bard into Harrower)
Alexander - Kovellus Vossare (Fighter)
Max - ???? (Sorcerer most likely)

That leaves two spots open, that I am eagerly perusing your characters to fill! I will make an announcement tomorrow (Tuesday) evening so that I have ample time to check out everyone's great characters. Anyone else who is interested, please toss at least your character concept on here before around 5:00 EST tomorrow and I will be sure to give you a fair shot!

Thanks again!

@Marcus Good luck! I'm sorry this one didn't work out, but I hope we'll get a chance to game in the future.

Its one matter for a grown' up dwarf like meself. But that...that's just rotten....no good rotten evil. So I said to meself.."Peety. You gotta find the flea-bitten rat who pushed the junk on de boy!" So I did me some investigatin' and found it was a rotten scumbag called Ghaedren (spit) that hooked me boy on the juice. An t'aint like the Fuzz'r gonna do jack squat about it though. Someone's gotta stop that no good douchebag and string him up to a gibbet himself! That someone'd be meself, mate. I'd be me! "

Well I switched my smelly dwarf rogue from a 20pt to an elite 25pt build.

He still has 150 gold for gear to start. He is no beggar...just an unemployed tradesman strung out on drugs and with distinctive body odour. (and plenty of useful delving and back-alley survival skills, great perceptive ability...and he's Dwarf-tough!)

Any additional gold he might be entitled to, will be spent on his dwindling stockpile of Shiver.

Hijack time again (and don't worry, Talomyr, I'm coming for your thread next). I've been hemming and hawing about running a parallel Arcadia game with my current one here on the paizo site, and I guess I'll go for it, though it probably wouldn't start for a few weeks. I don't want to advertise it in the main forums, as I'm mainly offering this up for the Sully Kingmaker players first, and some of those who don't make it for Sully's Crimson Throne or Talomyr's CoT games. I was worried about the confusion it may cause to have the same game running twice on this site, but so long as players in game 2 know not to go looking for spoilers in game 1's thread, it shouldn't be a problem. Obviously, my current players are out of the running for game 2 (I'm looking at your Red Assassin, one Rorse is already one more than I can handle). I'll start a discussion thread for the game, rather than a recruitment thread, so the people looking here are also welcome to put a character in there. Thread is here

And I will be eagerly lurking in the meantime!

Hey Sully! Here's the Varisian Sorcerer I've been promising. She's still a work in progress - need to finish her background and finalize the equipment list. Thanks for your patience!

I have updated Tosk's profile with the beginning mechanics you are using.

Liberty's Edge

I'm waiting to stat up until I hear one way or another, per your first post, Sully. I can do it in one evening if I should need to.

Jeremy (Lily)

Unfortunately +1

That's no problem. I'm most worried about character concept and how well the party will mesh together at this point. We can do the crunch later, and starting this weekend is not set in stone if we aren't ready. I'm just itching to get another game going.

Silver Crusade

Hmm...Only just realised the posts have gone onto page 2, whoops.....I've been updating with characteristics, only to see that my class is already selected...if I get through the selection process, then I'll finish the character off and work with you to get somewhere close to someone who will contribute to the party.

Ability stats completed on character sheet now tho...

I'd certainly be more than happy to join you if I don't make the final selection. Always the optimist though, perhaps Parneth will make it.

Sovereign Court

If I do run something, it will be The Serpent Skull adventure path; so i'm afraid i'll put running another PBP on hold until late June when I start recruiting for that.

Emyralda Zarranovich, Varisian sorcerer, is complete and ready to start.

I will say this...

This is honestly one of the hardest decisions I've had to make in a long time. Every one of these characters was spectacular! I decided that I didn't want to make the decision based on classes, but rather on the personality that the character would bring to the table. Other than the four I've already announced...

Nazard - Cardon Quinn (Cleric/Conjurer)
Talomyr - Andrezi Zeldana (Bard into Harrower)
Alexander - Kovellus Vossare (Fighter)
Max - Emyralda Zarranovich (Sorcerer)

I decided to go with characters that I felt would really make the story pop. I can't stress enough that at one point I literally considered each character. I thought there would be a few I could just give a cursory glance and pass over, but every one of them was a potential contender.

So without further ado, I would like to welcome the following two characters to the game, and thank everyone for their interest:

Jeremiziah - Lily D'Amico

and

Stratos - Tosk Saladin

To everyone else: Thanks again so much for letting me meet your characters. If I have the gumption to take on another game (who knows...I've always wanted to run Legacy of Fire...) you fine chaps have first crack.

Thanks again, and I'll post the link to the discussion thread very soon to begin work on the crunch.

You guys are awesome!

Come on over to the discussion thread!

Thanks for your consideration Sully and I hope you all have a great game. You can be assured that I will be lurking the streets of City with you in spirit!

Alexander,

I hope you will be starting your game soon, I can't wait to play in instead of "lurk in" one of these PbP games. I will come up with a character after you put up your notice.

Aye, have a great time everyone! Thanks Sully for taking the time to consider everyone. Alis shall pray that Lily finds the vengeance and closure she seeks. :)

I'll be sure to include you, seems a lot of work went into your character. Won't be until june though, as i'm hoping to run The Serpent Skull.

Wow, thanks, I really appreciate that! And yes, I'm one of the few people I know who can spend days working on a 1st level character. ^_^;

June sounds great, that'll give me time to finish another project I'm working on. BTW, any particular ability score/wealth guidelines that everyone should be aware of?

Alis sits tight, eager to set sail and go tomb raiding. Perhaps there's a good tavern where she can hang her circlet in the meantime...

Many thanks, kind Lady. Methinks I will find it or it will find me.

Thanks for considering Parneth, and have a great game it sounds like it will be fun. Hopefully Parneth will find another Crimson Throne game to go with, I really enjoyed coming up with him and think he would be fun to play. Congrats to the Tosk and Lily enjoy the game.

And I'll keep an eye out for Alexander in June, its not far away.

Oh, I'm thinking of running a very small game, to see how my DMing goes in PBP, probably over at another site. If all goes well, I'll start Legacy of Fire afterwards. So if anyone who didn't make it (or did) wants to trust to a DM with 'L'earner plates I'll invite you over.

Oh well, might as well. It's an evening module (so not long) and also easy for beginner DMs, so thats me again. Into the Haunted Forest, is a 1st level adventure which is quite fun, as I DM'd it one evening for a group I used to play with. It won't go into a campaign, its a one off shortie. If you're interested I'm here. It will end up being played at Roleplaymarket

Is this thread still being used for anything or can I delete it from my "list"?

Only for recruiting if anyone drops out.
