Male Half-orc Barbarian 1

Do the trees look green and healthy in any manner? If they are, Mash assumes he can probably find sources for both food and water.

Erodel looks at Cole and rather matter-of-factly states, "Well, shouldn't we get going then? The sooner we enter, the sooner we're out, right?"

Male Elf (Aquatic) Fighter 1

Des does slow down, even seems to dawdle slightly,

"I think now is the time to check gear and buy any last minute things that need buying. The rest of the trip is out in the big bad woods folks. Not the place to find one's self unprepared for something untoward." He smiles as he looks around at his companions.

"Perhaps a quick tally of equipment?" He asks.

Feel free to peruse Des' equipment, make suggestions, that sort of thing.

Cole nods at the half-elf, "Wise idea, we should buy extra rations, just in case hunting for food is unsuccessful."

Male Half-orc Barbarian 1

I have 10 rations, along with a survival of +7. Maybe we need to invest in waterskins.

Male Elf (Aquatic) Fighter 1

Des nods as people begin to compare poses ions.

"Every one have bed rolls? No one wants to double up?" He arches an eyebrow at the last comment, "Water skins for all is a good idea." He sighs, "Buying rations and some implements might be in order." He mutters to himself as eh looks for a 'general' store, or some where that things can be bought.

I am also happy to forgo the Horse I had on the character sheet for the previous game. Unless we think a pack horse and its supplies are a good idea?

Mash, Son of Slash wrote:

The edge of the trees looks mildly windblown, but that's probably because this region can get very windy. The trees looks healthy.

There is a smallish house towards the middle of the village that has various items-cloth, rope, etc.-out for sale, and a bored looking elderly man sits in a rocking chair smoking a pipe near the wares.

You may bring the horse if you wish. It's your characters decision :). If you do decide to, your horse will have been in this village, being tended to, waiting for you to retrieve it. You'll have to post your horse's description.

Cole realizes he never got a bedroll, so he will swing by the general store to pick one up. On the comment about doubling up, he looks away without saying anything.

If there was anyone he would 'double up' with, it would be Raff, he he

Erodel will pick up a bedroll and a waterskin, even though he finds sleeping outdoors distasteful at best.

Male Elf (Aquatic) Fighter 1

Des pays the hostler well for the care of his mount. Thanking the person and adding a small amount extra in thanks to the amount of money handed over. Leading his horse towards the small 'General Store', Des checks the saddle bags and other tack.

"Now, let me see..." He muses about what things he has to add to the equipment carried.

Willing to let others load some of the heavier stuff upon the horse and use it for hauling purposes. Will help keep every one's movement speeds up. :)

The equipment prices are listed in the Core Rulebook.
The owner of the store (the old man) is happy to sell you what you need. No one else is in the store.

perception 15 for anyone going into the store:
You see a bit of movement at the back door, as if it was just shutting.

Male Elf (Aquatic) Fighter 1

Perception:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 With a raised eye brow, Desvarets casually, but quickly, walks back out into the 'road' under the pretext of leaving something on the horse. Doing his best to see around back and who or what is leaving the building.

You don't see anything.

Cole purchases his bedroll, and also an extra waterskin, due to his distraction, he fails to notice anything unusual, although he does wish the shop owners "Iomedae's blessings on you" after he finishes his transactions.

A small crowd of idle rustics is slowly gathering to look curiously at your group the longer you wait here.

After finishing his purchases, Cole rejoins the group, saying quietly, "We should be on our way, we have already drawn too much attention here."

Erodel quickly finishes his purchases (bedroll & waterskin) and leaves the shop.

"Cole, I agree whole-heartedly. Let's go."

You enter the forest. There is still some time 'till evening. A reasonably well-defined path leads away through the trees.

"I think we need a marching order, guys."

Yucale, how wide is the path? Wide enough for two people to walk side by side?

Male Elf (Aquatic) Fighter 1

Having not seen who slipped out of the trading post Desvartes humor is darker than usual as he walks along, a frown creasing his brow. Soon enough his good mod returns, a swagger returns to his step and a light tune does he hum to himself.

Perception:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

Desvatres does, however, keep a watchful eye upon the forest around them as they travel. He nods at Cole's call for caution.

"Well, I do believe the horse should be at the center. Carrying things as it is." Des notes in reply

Male Half-orc Barbarian 1

Mash instinctively starts to move towards the center at Desvartes' suggestion. When he realizes that there is a horse in the party, he tries to hide his embarrassment and moves to the front of the party, with sword and shield drawn.

"I'll take rear guard, then, everyone keep your eyes and ears open. I don't like this at all, too many chances for a party to disappear, and never be found."

Keep in mind, Cole's speed is only 20'

Erodel tries to hold back a small laugh after seeing Mash's misunderstanding.

"I think I'll keep myself between the horse and the othe..umm...Mash", Erodel says with a grin across his face.

Male Elf (Aquatic) Fighter 1

Desvartes sighs at Coles comment,

"It's a forest, This is an obvious trail. If people go missing all the time, who made the trail then?" He points out to the pessimistic fellow. Des continues to hold the reigns of the horse and lead the animal along with the party.

Keselous grins and stretches as the group moves along. He has been quiet trying to put thoughts of greed aside, he does not want to try and swipe the artifact and run. after repeating the phrase in his head a mere hundred times he thinks he has himself convinced.

While he hasn't been out of the city and hasn't realized how a night in the woods is alone, he has been a street rat most of his life and has dealt with sleeping in less than hospitable places before.

Cole responds to the half elf, "Well that is easy, it... then stops for a moment, wondering if he was being insulted or whether Desvartes was simply joking. The more he thought about it, the more he was convinced he was being made fun of.

Cole sighs to himself, thinking It's obvious he doesn't take this seriously. How many days will this journey be?

Raff notices the door shutting. His only reaction is to pop a piece of sugar candy into his mouth. Like his brother, he forgot to a bedroll earlier and takes this opportunity to correct that.

As the group moves into the forest, he stays near his brother. Raff keeps on the alert for any trouble.

Perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

It looks like a very normal forest. The canopy is thin enough to let a good amount of light through. The path is wide enough for two people to walk side-by-side, but no wider.
Could I have the marching order, please? I know Mash is at the front, the horse is in the middle, Cole is at the back and Raff is in front of Cole, but I don't know where everyone else is.

I'll be between the horse and Mash.

Male elf 1 rouge

I suppose I will walk up front with Mash even though his unpredictability makes me a bit nervous.

Thanks.I assume you all continue walking?

Yucale wrote:

Correct, although I assume Desvartes is walking the horse behind him, he might decide to ride it though.

Male Half-orc Barbarian 1

"Stand guard. Bandits like the cover of trees."

Mash will take a small swig of his ale. It'll need to last him the trip.

Male Elf (Aquatic) Fighter 1

Yes, Desvartes is walking the horse. Both to remain at the same level as his traveling companions as well as to not burden the animal so much, since it's currently being used to carry everything that people don't want to carry. :)

Erodel continues to periodically send Corvax, his raven familiar, out on short scouting missions, while keeping an eye on the situation himself.

Perception (if needed):1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

Corax notices some movement behind them, but it's probably just wildlife.
Could you estimate the surface area the troop covers, please, length and width?
Perception check, everyone (except Erodel). Corax included.

Yucale, do you mean how far apart each member of the party is from one another? If so. then Cole would be 20' behind the closest member to him.

Corax goes out ~200 ft. from the edge of the group in all directioins (makes a big circle) when he does his scouting runs.

Perception for Corax:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Male Half-orc Barbarian 1

Mash is obvious.

I mean how much square ground the group covers, roughly, in its current marching order. Not including Corax.

Actually, just tell me, if there were a 10' circle with the outer edge right at Mash's toes and going back into the group, who would be standing on it?

The way I saw it described, I'm guessing ~80ft long x 20ft wide

The way I understand it, is Mash and Keselous are walking together, followed by Erodel, then Desvartes and the Horse, and finally Raff and Cole. I believe only Keselous is within' 10' of Mash.
