Trevor the Yellow |
Incredulous, Trevor peers into the hut to take a look at the straw witch. Tricky one...
"I don't know about taking her stuff... I still think we should leave some money. If not for the cauldron, at least for the roots."
Lueck |
That certainly seems fair, Trevor. Lueck takes 5 gold out of his pouch and tosses them in the door. If she can help cure those back in town, knowingly or not, she deserves our appreciation and remuneration. Pausing at the haunting thought of those children back in town, he takes out his full ale skin and leaves it propped by the door. Then more quietly, he'll add Indeed, if she is of aid, we owe her a toast to her health and to my lord Cayden's favor.
AAremeth |
Aaremeth looks surprised as he is putting his paws on all of the wonderous items in the hovel. He then sighs Yes,I agree. I honestly thought she was dead, and while I don't appreciate this trick and trap, it is still her property." Aaremeth grabs a piece of parchment from the back of quck silver and the bundle of tatzylwyrm pieces. quickly pinning an ote of apology.
Dear Uzilima,
I aaremeth alduya apologize for the intusion into your home and in your property, paticulary your cualdron. we have taken a jar of pickled ratstail root. we were hoping to trade with you, when we saw the clever straw trick that conviced us you were deceased wwere going to take what we needed for now to return the populace of falcon's hallow to good health. In trade we have left some replacement components and five gold, I realize this will not replace your cualdron, but I am willing to help make a mends, you can find me at al ater date in falcon's hallow at alchemical soulutions.
sincerly,
AAremeth Alduya
With that he will take the bundle of tatylworm and leave it with the gold and the note on her table.
with a weary sigh AAremeth will ask [b]to the ruins?

Trevor the Yellow |
"Yes, to the ruins!"
Trevor takes his usual spot at the end, axe and javelin ready.
Trevor the Yellow |
As they walk, Trevor comes around to asking the question that's been burning in him since his youth really: "So, where do you guys come from? You all seem to have seen quite a bit of the world coming to this place. Me, I don't know much about the world outside the Hollow."
He stays alert nevertheless. Perception 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
And a good thing too! He could have stumbled on that shoelace...
AAremeth |
the shoelace gag is cracking me up by the way.
hmmm, I suppose I shall have to come back out here then, when we are done. snatching up his note spell components and gold, He hands the gold back to lueck.
With a smirk at Trevor. I'm from the hallow too, I guess we just don't cross paths much.
Lueck |
I've been zigzagging my way north, mostly. Signing on with caravans here and there. I have say that so far there isn't much to tell. One tavern in very much like the next. I guess I never paid enough attention to my surroundings; I've been too busy looking for someone. But that's not important anymore. I realized that Cayden put me on this path for a reason, and that's what I have to pay attention to now.
Nikolae |
As they move towards the ruins, Nikolae wait for Lueck to finish his brief tale before replying, "I was born in devil-Cheliax, but close enough to the border that a fair bit of smuggling went on, beyond the notice of the authorities. I do not find myself welcome there, for diverse reasons, and Andoran seemed the best nation in which to forget that dreadful place."
And the closest, he adds silently, hand trailing to the nape of Vermiis' neck.
Yellow eyes look up at him, and Vermiis' twitches his ears, like a horse whisking away a fly, until the hand is withdrawn.
Trevor the Yellow |
"Interesting. Well I'm sur I speak for AAremeth and Harn when I say that you are more than welcome here in the Vale and that we're grateful for your kind help coming to the Vale's inhabitants rescue."
Nikolae |
I believe we've come to the conclusion that she's a witch, faked her death and left behind a magical guardian, and that ripping her off could lead to death-by-testicular-implosion when she gets back. So, pretty much, leaving it, unless we find her gnarly corpse elsewhere and decide it's safe to come back and pillage her personal belongings later!
We'll make up a story to get Trevor to go along with it, in that case, like, 'We just need to bring these things back to town, for her family...'
AAremeth |
Well gentlemen, I know it is creepy and possibly ill advised, but didn't you all just say there hasn't been a track around here in ages? Sounds like a good camping spot to me. the elfs curiosity of the stores of goods in conjunction with the fact that beasts don't tread here is combining to make him want to camp here. no sense and going into the word where the wild things roam.
Trevor the Yellow |
"Fine by me, as long as we don't sleep inside! Same watch?"
Perception during my watch: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Lueck |
Same watches sound good. Lueck will be sleeping under the stars this night, since his tent was used to help wrap those remains. If needed, his watch perception roll is 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7.
This night, no harm shall come to Trevor's boots. Not if Lueck, sword of Cayden, has anything to say about it!
AAremeth |
On Aaremeth's watch, with out touching anything but the floor, his hands clasped behind his back, to ensure that his hands don't act out of curiousity, He looks at everything, keeping an eye out for anything there of paticular Value. He will also keep any out for odd things about the cabin.
perception1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

If you go back to the original post there is a link to a picture of the Ugly little trinket. page 10 after the fight.

one potion of cure light wounds, spider climb, and bull strength

Trevor the Yellow |
Early before dawn, Trevor will start packing his gear, taking some time to eat only when everything is ready to go.
"All right, last stop! I'll be glad to get out of this scary spot. Harn, can you tell us more about those ruins? Will we need to go inside or does the mushroom grow outside?"
I'm pretty sure I know the answer to the last question...
He'll take his place at the end, unless someone suggests a different order, axe and javelin ready, one eye on the woods, one on his boots,
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
AAremeth |
are the eyes open on the necklace? also I am not going to keep it a secret at least after we get further away and they won't make me put the stuff back.Aaremeth wiggles his fingers gingerly before picking up the useful items one by one saving the soul speaker for last. He will pull out his rapier readying himself in case something else comes to life while he is looting.
you guys can look at that last spoiler as I will be telling you about what I found on the way to the ruins.
Trevor the Yellow |
As he hears AAremeth talk about his finds, Trevor's eye widen in suspect disbelief. His tone is calm and open for discussion: "It was my understanding that we would take only what we needed and also pay for it. Did I miss something?"
Did I see the note AAremeth left to Ulizmila? If I did, it will change a few things.
Sense motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
It's hard to tell, but I think they're close.
Harn Jenkins |
Not really interested in whether stuff was taken from the shack or not, Harn pays no attention to that part of the conversation as he says to Trevor, "Can't really say if the mushroom grows inside out outside, we shoulda asked Laural before leaving. I just know where the most likely place around here might be. If we don't find any there, then we'll hafta think of something else."
Ready to get underway, Harn looks to the others and turns to head in the direction of the old dwarven monastary once the others are ready.
AAremeth |
Well Trevor, after a further inspection, it doesn't seem like anyone has been in there for years. I think I will come back for the rest when this dark business is done in town. there is a large bit of coin to be made and if there is trouble to be had, I will take the responsibility directly on my shoulders. I will leave a note when I come back of where to find me and that I will be glad to repay her to the fullest amount if it comes to that, but to be perfectly honest, I don't think that day will come. that said there are some very useful items that may be of use ti us in the wild woods. I understand if the rest of you would rather not share in my gamble, but I think these items will be helpful.
AAremeth speaks as they move forward to their goal.
Trevor the Yellow |
Trevor gives AAremeth a big smile as he relaxes a bit.
"Makes sense. We agree though that we'll need to make sure, on our return, that she's in fact deceased. If not, as Lueck rightly suggested, we'll give back what we didn't need and pay for what we used, right?"
"Otherwise, it does seem sensible to borrow some items to help us on our quest."
Trevor the Yellow |
I'm trying to play him right, in a game where looting is mandatory (I posted about that "heroic" problem). Hey, maybe my powers will go away... I wouldn't want to be the KM paladin though ;p

You guys crack me up, and I just want everyone to know I am really enjoying gaming with you bunch.
As you make your way along the next day; most of the morning seems uphill, when you stop for a quick lunch break you crest a ridge. Atop the ridge is a clearing. Down below still several hours walk away you see what must be the ruins.
Dwarven Ruins
It lies across the river, but from here you can see a likely place to ford the river. You could make the ruins about half an hour from dark most likely, or find a likely spot between here and there to camp and approach in the morning the choice is yours.
AAremeth |
sounds like a plan to me. might be nice to have a fortified camp spot tonight, I still wish that we could move quicker, I hate to think of those that might be suffering this very night.
The elf looks thoughtful for a long moment and then gets quiet again as he walks along the path.
So, we have asked you about yourselves , but not told you of ourselves, I was found in these woods as a boy by a family of lumberjacks, the Alduya's. but with out the arms for it and a wondering curiosity that would lead me on to stray paths, it made me unfit for the life of tree chopping, so I was apprenticed to an alchemist wondering through and after a tragic misstep with a mixture my master was, well gone, he was simply gone, I still am not truly sure if he died or was transported to some unknown place. after waiting for awhile I picked up and moved back to the hallow. but as I age much more slowly than my adopted family did, I look like this while my niece is the elder of the family. its just not the same as it was as a boy.
