I have a close relative who is going through this right now, so I'm kind of on a hair trigger with it.
Ditto here. My cousin is finally getting treatment after nearly 20 years of drifting from one bottle/man to another. I've seen her lose her kids to foster care (they were eventually adopted by her ex's grandparents and her sister), lose her home, and lose her self-confidence. Alcoholism is some serious stuff.

I experienced it from my father, unfortunately this has led to somewhat of a binge habit for me. but my binges are decreasing in volume consumed and frequency lately. So I am sorry I made that reference to a joke earlier. I didn't mean to make fun of the problem.

I just found out that my roommate of eight years (when I was single) died last friday. Obit. This really sucks.Wow. Really sorry, Moff.I posted and ran last night. Sorry about that. Thank you all for your good thoughts. Back in the day, we did a lot with youth groups. I learned a lot from him. He was one of the few people in my life that encouraged me to think for myself regarding religion and to question things that came from the pulpit (among other sources). We kept in loose touch recently -- didn't have as much in common -- but he was in pretty rough shape last time I saw him. I'm not entirely sure what he actually died from, but based on what I saw a few years ago, it was probably a good thing in the long run. He was pretty much always in tremendous pain. It still sucks that he's gone, but I'm glad that I knew him.
And just for the record, people around me need to stop dying. This is the second one this year. Two people who have died well before their time. I expected my grandparents to die this year. Not people who are close to my age.
I am so sorry to have read this. My prayers are with you and his families, my friend.
Sigh. I really want to take a nap. Stupid blood sugar won't even out today. Oh well. My own fault for eating too much sugary food this week.

Amusingly, according to one of my old roommates Jagermeister tastes like Robitussin. I can certainly confirm that it LOOKS like Robitussin. (Either that or my roommate had dumped the booze and filled up a Jager bottle with cough syrup... lol)
