Really? I thought the turn-in was so low that the gov't was spending millions to send people around house to house to get the stragglers. Perhaps MA was ahead of the game?

Out of curiosity, what did you used to do before you got laid off?

You should lash the whip a little bit to make sure people are getting their characters completed for the PbP and F2F. :P The way it's looking with the PbP, that may not even start up until after Fawtlycon MB.

Did you ever check out my narrative on the PbP thread, btw?

Well are you comin' or not? We need to get some cats for the butcher.

Do you have to wash your grandmother? Give her a sponge bath?

Ohhh....he's the guy that sang 'Momma Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys' right?

What's one more day of perspiration and bengay scent going to do? She'll get by.

There is either A) a problem with the power cord, or B) the port where the power cord plugs in. But either way it ain't getting no juice. Can't charge it and can't even hold the damn thing so it will connect. :/

This might be a silly suggestion if you have already thought of it...

Simple diagnostics:

Can you swap cords between the laptops or even another computer? I am thinking they would be interchangeable.

If the power cords of the two laptops are interchangeable, then do so. If the problem follows the cord then it is the cord. In other words, if you can charge up or power the laptop with the other's cord, it is the cord of the first...Otherwise, it is probably the port but maybe internal to the unit.

He and Willie sang it. Those guys would often trade songs, and I recall having heard Cash do it as well, but yes he is the one who recorded it first.

We did indeed think of it, but hers is a Dell, and mine is/was a Compaq, so no dice. :/

How's life beyond the edge?

The narrative was most entertaining. :)

With everything going on, and you guys being here next week the PbP may have to wait a bit, don't worry though, when we all get straight I am ready to run it..... I think. ;)

Moorluck wrote:

I figured you've already tried that, so I avoided suggesting it out of concern it would have been patronizing. :P

That's why I suggested an indy computer store as they're bound to have a bunch of spare power cords to test out on the laptop before blowing any money.

Well, at least kick around the F2F. It's technically going to be a one-shot, so I'm not too worried about being invested in a background. Just as long as we're well-rounded to chew gum and kick ass. :P

Cool and rainy here. Big storm last night. Other than that, not a whole lot going on.

I hope you guys have some fun when the crew gets there. But, I am sure you will.

Same to you, sir. How's the census holding up?
All done. No more census. Now back to looking for a job. :(
Any improvements with the job market in your part of the nation?

That's a negative Ghostrider. Not the happiest state when it comes to employment.

She hasn't seen the orignial, but she did chew my ear off over dinner with what she liked about it. She's totally stoked about the upcoming Thor movie now.

They hire on a 3-5 week basis for the enumerators. As a clerk I was getting a longer bid (for lower cash of course), but that too dried up. I got three months+, longer than most. What did one story call it? 'An employment sugar rush ..'

I used to work a phone bank for a fence company and also inside sales. I was being trained to take over as assistant CAD drafter when all of a sudden no one seemed to want expensive custom-crafted vinyl fencing anymore.

Nori
I've heard dried Nori is really good, I've contemplated grabbing some to see what it's like. Can you describe its flavor some?
Eating by itself is an acquired taste, but doable(some compare it to potato chips). With rice, it's delicious- the body and flavor of the rice brings out the flavor of the nori.

I remember eating nori when I was a kid. I loved it. It tasted like salt. Toasty salt. :)

Can't eat it now though. I tried a piece a few years back and had an allergic reaction. Either there were fish bits in it or whatever I'm allergic to in the fish was also in the nori. No real way to tell for sure.

I think you should ask for a new body. ;)

I know I tried, but my request has been denied five times.

what was denied? I'm confused now.

A new body. I would like to trade mine in for a model that works.

I just hunted it down. The store is Capital City Comics.

It looks like they carry the same kinds of collectibles, toys, and what not so you might find some good things there. Of course, you might not, but searching is half the fun. :)

I ran across perhaps a chain of that store up near Polaris. If I were a comic geek, I'd probably appreciate it. However, I'm pretty specific on what comics I want to read and prefer them to be more of an omnibus style so I don't have to chase down issue after issue.

Collectibles are a hit and a miss with toys. I did pick up a couple today (Clone Wars Cartoon Yoda and General Grievous) but only because they were discounted.

Incidently ... you know what would make good Galchutts? Check out those Gears of Wars action figures.

I am not sure if it is a chain, though I did notice a number of stores shared the same name. The people who ran the British Papermill would be hard pressed to manage a chain I think. :)

Those action figures would look good on the table. I especially like the creatures with the tech embedded into their bodies. That would make for some perfect Chaositech.

Sorry to hear of your trouble with employment, Patrick. I hope you can find something that you will enjoy doing and soon. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Go ahead and look for the others. Was that the Monster Manual III or IV? I was just wondering.

I understand what you are dealing with Patrick. Having been unemployed for so long has worn my confidence down a great deal. Hopefully both of us can become gainfully employed in the near future.

Okay, I took my 15% off coupon back to HPB. Got the Complete Mage, Lewis' The Monk, and I, Strahd. I was nervous about the latter, but it was a clearance hardback that still had its jacket cover, and I've heard it recommended several times, so that overcame my suspicion. This is how many years it has taken me to buy a TSR novel for myself, if you don't count the Drizzt graphic novels.

You know I had a list of 3E products that went from the beginning to the end of 2008. If someone could tell me where I could find the rest of the products WotC released for 3.X, I'd really appreciate it.

Just heard the gargantuan Orcus mini my lovely wife was getting me for my birthday (well, as my requested thing, even though it doesn't drop till June) might well be Out Of Stock, like almost before it hits shelves ...

I was so going to treat myself to one of these for graduating. I'm tempted to furiously post about what dicks a certain company is being. But I'm just going to hold my temper and hope for the best.
