Mark and everyone should run it as a tournament.

ASK AS YOU SHALL RECEIVED- Mark will get this locked in for GenCon!

BTW: I gotta gold piece on Zherog.

Let me tell you where you can put your gold piece: leave it on Ling's eyes. He'll need 'em for the ferryman.

Wow, that was actually vaguely clever Lou. Who sent you an e-mail with the suggestion to post that?

Zherog's mind for game math and optimization is absolutely superhuman. I call him the Ling 9000. He's a win mill.

Lou's the guy who once entered a massive PvP tournament and immediately figured out how to never lose. He broke the game. Way to send the game designers back to square one.

This is like Deep Blue vs. Kasparov.

As Mordheim is one of my all-time favorite games, I'm quite interested in this game.

How is it for functioning as a pure 1v1 skirmish game with multiple characters?

I got to play a 1v1 with multiple characters at a ConnCon. I played with a cleric and a wizard and it was pretty intense when the other guy took out my only source of healing. Hell his guys even survived a fireball. I barley pulled out a win by using a shout right after the fireball before his cleric could heal both of them.

It takes more concentration and planning compared to just controlling one, and it probably gets more intense with even more characters. But it was fun.

Is the boxed set suppose to come with a Map Arcanum, as described on page 60 of the rulebook? If not, where do I get a Map Arcanum of the accompanying map (Keeper's Keep)?

Hsuperman—Thanks for your purchase. There is no additional purchase needed. The Map Arcanum will be available for download shorty. We will be communicating its progress via our Facebook Fan Page and will send a notification via email to our customers when it becomes available.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the prompt reply! I look forward to it! I suppose I'll ask another question while I'm here, which I asked already on the Conflict Roleplaying forums (but it seems like there's more activity here):

"I just purchased the Conflict Skirmishing box set and am really enjoying reading through the book; I think my players will enjoy playing this. One concern I have, though, is the actual Conflict map that came with the package (the Keeper's Keep). In the text of the book it says that all Conflict Maps have an odd number of squares both vertically and horizontally, that way the Center Line can be defined. However, the Keeper's Keep map clearly has 32 squares horizontally and 22 squares vertically, both even. How does one define the Center Line in this case? Also, will future Conflict Maps have even or odd number of squares?"

It was decided not to limit the maps by forcing a odd or even number of squares. We recognize that GM will improvised maps of their own and simply didn't want to limit that flexibility.

The center line is now clearly marked in blue dashes in the Keeper's Keep map. It can be any line that separates two halves of a map evenly.

Hey, Conflict Games, did you guys really hire Ryan to edit your book?

Hey, Conflict Games, did you guys really hire Ryan to edit your book?

Yes. Ryan Costello, Jr from the Know Direction Podcast will be editing the Conflict Roleplaying Rulebook.

As many of you heard in Know Direction #008, Ryan loved the book and the mechanics behind Conflict Roleplaying. However, he had some choice words regarding the editing.

After some thought, we felt the need to put everything on hold and reexamine the the core rulebook. We realize this is the foundation of a large portion of our future products, so we need to get it just right. After a series of emails and conversations, Ryan has decided to lend his talents to the project.

Ryan is one of two editors that will be re-mastering the Conflict Roleplaying Rulebook. We have also address one or two concerns that was raised on our fourms.(e.g. updating the centerline rule on Conflict maps and clarifying the grabbing example, etc..)

As an added bonus, we are now considering a hardcover version of the rulebook....

...hmm...how will that differ from what we've already gotten if we've purchased the box set?

For the folks who already made a purchase, the following choices will be available for you.

• Errata, a PDF will be make available to all via on our forums.
• The updated digital edition.A digital version (PDF) of the updated book will be automatically sent to everyone who made the purchase on our website.
•A digital version of the updated book will be sent via email to anyone with a proof of purchase.

Lastly, if we produced the hardcover (or if you want the updated softcover) a credit will be given to you (via coupon code) that will handle the lion's share of the price.

The goal here is to improve our product, not to our sales. Hopefully, this message comes through with this effort.

Conflict RPG excited me more than any other product I've picked up since the Core Rulebook. That excitement ballooned my disappointment in a lot of the book's editing. The Conflict RPG rulebook is hardly the worst edited sourcebook I've ever read, but I wanted so much to love the rulebook as much as I loved the rules and the editing was holding me back. Mark and I came to an agreement that would elevate the rulebook to the standards I felt it deserved.

The editor-publisher/writer relationship can be like a marriage or a war. Mark's openness to my ideas, his flexibility, and his diplomatic way of handling suggestions he doesn't agree with have made this experience mutually agreeable.

Special thanks to Ryan Costello for his tireless work on the editing.

Hey ZHEROG!

Louis Agresta just sent me an email and I qoute:

"I’d just add that I’m going to kick John’s arse with a character wearing naught but a gold lame loincloth, sandals and a necklace... "

So all I'm going to say is, you better be ready Saturday Night at GenCon, cause Louis is ready to roll!

"I'M SORRY," Lou corrected himself with wry sarcasm. "THAT'S ENNIE AWARD WINNING WRITER JOHN LING, ISN'T IT?" John smiled quietly and said "AND DON'T YOU FORGET IT, B***T#!"

Thus was the atmosphere on Saturday night when Conflict-RPG founder Mark Scott..." More after the jump!

It was great having you guys at our little event, and I appreciate you taking the time and risking your sanity to settle that rivalry. Hope to see you again next year.

SETTLE! Settling the rivalry is the last thing I think we did. Lou is already talking smack for next year.

Well, either way, it worked out. :)

See you next year!
