ok i am wanting to make a char that wields 2 shields as weapons (is this even posable to do) and also take the shield master feat now dose the feat work with both shields or just one thank you for the time to even read this.

Yes, you can use two shields. Just remember that shield bonuses don't stack. As for shield mastery, that's an open question that hasn't been officially ruled on yet.

That are several other threads covering this that you might want to check out.

The Exchange RPG Superstar 2010 Top 32

This pops up rather often and there are viciously divided opinions on it. I think it's mildly cheesy but one of my players wanted to do it so I am letting it run at the minute. I found a five-level PrC called the Armadillo that someone had created and let him take it. I can't remember if it was on the wizards boards or giantitp. I can always mail you a copy, of course.

The main ability of the PrC is that you can stack one point of shield bonus from the second shield for every level in the PrC that you take. Other abilities include allowing iterative attacks with spiked shields, evasion when wielding two shields, shield bonus to Touch AC and being able to keep the shield bonus while attacking with spiked shields.

It's fun, and not too overpowered. He's hard to hit, but so is a Vow of Poverty halfling druid using Luminous Armor. He does less damage than the monkeywrench-battleaxer but thinks his character is cooler. I double up on mooks to keep them all busy, and everyone is happy.

That's what it's all about, right?

Basically, if you don't mind players with high ACs (subject for another thread, but regular area effects and occasional gaze attacks are a great start) and don't care too much about the whole RAW concept... it's fun.

cool i was thinking that i was able to use the shields so that makes my day. and on the other i will just have to see what my GM will rule it for at the moment (crossing my fingers). thank you guys for answering so quick

Some GMs will disallow it.

Others, like me, will gladly allow it.

And then we make sure the character dies in a horrible, highly unpleasant way. Drowning in liquid cheese would fit. }>

I was going to say, this is the fourth time I've seen this topic.

Unless you're using bucklers, I wouldn't allow it. Two heater or round shields would basically clash into each other if you attempted to use them at the same time, unless you held them away from your body - which would make them useless as shields.

Only the fourth? Must be really new to RPG message boards then! :D

It comes up so regularly, you could use it as the base for a calendar.

That and "Are elf/orc crossbreeds possible?"

I think you're misunderstanding the question.

By definition, you can only benefit from one Shield for purposes of AC.
And you simply can't use bucklers as weapons.

The question is revolving around wielding a second Shield as, and ONLY as a Weapon, which they are listed as being (1 Handed/ Light). The issue is do the benefits of Shield Master apply to BOTH such Shields? I would say no, because only one Shield is functioning AS a shield, the other is just a weapon.

This also has repurcussions for another Feat, 2 Weapon Defense, which adds +1 Shield AC Bonus to an off-hand weapon. Since that would appear to 'in effect' make it a Shield, it seems you should be able to add Shield Enhancements to it as well, just as you can add Shield Enhancements and Weapon Enhancements to a Spiked Shield...

Hopefully there will will be a bit of clarification when Errata/3rd printing is out.
