In this next AP I am considering playing a cleric. I'm hoping some of the designers might let us know if any specific gods will play an important role. Barring that, what gods will be getting the full right up in this AP?
Thanks!!!
The two deities that'll get articles during Kingmaker will be Erastil and Gorum.
There's a LOT of exploration, so clerics of Desna will also be happy.
There's a LOT of city building, so clerics of Abadar will also be happy.
There's a LOT of nature stuff going on too, so clerics of Gozreh and druids will be happy.

Yep, I have Gods and Magic - I'll check it out.
I bit off topic but ... Since we are talking about it, does anyone know if there is a list somewhere showing what gods have recieved articles yet an what Pathfinder AP book each is in? If there isn't such a listing, it seems like maybe there should be ...

I'm not sure about the exact issue numbers, though they're typically the second and fifth issue in a given AP.
Otherwise, here are the deities that appeared in each adventure path:
Rise of the Runelords
- Desna
- Lamashtu
Curse of the Crimson Throne
- Abadar
- Zon-Kuthon
Second Darkness
- Calistria
- Cayden Cailean
Legacy of Fire
- Rovagug
- Sarenrae
Kingmaker (upcoming)
- Erastil
- Gorum

The two deities that'll have writeups during Serpent's Skull are Gozreh and Nethys.
Then Urgothoa and Pharasma in the Ustalav AP right James? :p
Followed by Shelyn and Norgorber in the Taldor AP, and finally Irori and Torag in the all Dwarf Vudran AP! 2012! The Year of the Oiled Dwarf Monk!
Wow actually. All of the dieties will be covered by August 2012! Good time for a compilation if any, 10 APs in!

Is there ever going to be a Pathfinder version of Deities and Demigods? Perhaps a Companion that would include all the information on the gods in one easy to find location for those of us who don't own every single AP?
That was probably one of my favorite books of 3.0.
Have you checked out Gods and Magic? While it doesn't have the full articles that the AP issues include, it certainly is a good place to start.

Compiling the 20 deity articles once they're done into a whole book isn't on a schedule yet. We might do something like this some day, but for now the Gods and Magic book should cover the basics for folks who don't have the Pathfinder volumes that have deity writeups.
(We won't be providing stats for deities unless we build a game in which the PCs get to play deity-level characters, in any event.)

I'm wondering if Gozreh's article writeup might appear in the "Serpent's Skull" adventure path. It would seem a good place to showcase that faith.
What's the "Serpent's Skull" AP? Haven't heard of this one yet. Is there a list somewhere as to what James and the bunch are doing for the APs in the future?

Keep an eye on this page. The most recently announced volumes are at the bottom, and they're usually announced about 9 months ahead of their release. Serpent's Skull is the next AP after Kingmaker, which will start in March if it's on time. It's got an Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom type vibe to it from what little description we have.

Anyone who wants to know something about the main bad guys of "Serpent's Skull" and what their plot might be should probably read up on...

Lames, quick follow up ... can tell me who will get the first write up (presumably in the second installment) ... Erastil or Gorum?
Thanks!

First... I will assume that calling me "Lames" was a typo and not you trying to be cute or snarky.
Second: Erastil is first in Pathfinder #32. Gorum is in #35, which also happens to be the volume that's got lots of mass combat stuff in it.

Wow, I'm sorry!!! I can't believe I typed Lames instead of James! I'm really sorry! I'm not even quite sure how I did that - the L and J are close together but not THAT close.
You were kidding though, right? You didn't actually think I was trying to be qute or snarky, did you? Hopefully not, but if you did, I promise you I wasn't!
Oh, and, uh, thank you for the follow up answer. I appreciate the quick response.

HA! No worries! :) Just calling you out on a cute little typo! (puts down moon gun, takes deep breath to calm down)
No really! It's okay! :)

NSpicer, in which AP specifically can I find these gods, as I want to buy the PDFs...
NSpicer's list:
Rise of the Runelords
Desna --> AP #2
Lamashtu --> ?
Curse of the Crimson Throne
Abadar --> ?
Zon-Kuthon --> ?
Thanks!
Edit: Zurai just told me the gods articles are always in Chapter 2 and 5 of each AP. However, Pathfinder #5 (Lamashtu) is not available in PDF... (???)
Zurai |
I can confirm that Abadar is in PF#8 and Zon-Kuthon is in PF#11. I'm pretty sure Lamashtu is in #5, but not positive. EDIT: Just checked: Yeah, she's in #5.
As for the PDF for #5, I think that's all that's available. Pretty sure that Rise of the Runelords is OOP. Regardless, this page says it's the PDF copy, and it's at the PDF price.

Thanks for your help everyone, especially Zurai's lightning quick assist which landed Paizo a sale early this afternoon!
James, Zurai has earned a commission on this sale! :P
(judging how fast he came to help me, I actually wouldn't be surprised if he's a member of your sales staff or customer service... SCS Division: Secret Customer Service... or something like that! LOL!)

Hah! Not that I would mind the employment, but nope. I was just waiting for 3:00 EST to roll around -- that's when I was due to get picked up for today's game session. Your thread title caught my attention and that was that. I do try to be helpful when I can.

So I'm a bit torn here... Here's the thing:
I'm usually the DM in our gaming group, but I kinda really wanted to play this Kingmaker AP, so "usually always player" member of our group stepped up to DM (awesome!)
Here's my conundrum: don't want to even be tempted to flip this AP before I play, so I decided to cancel my subscription, and perhaps buy back issues after we're done playing the AP. However, I am probably going to be the cleric, and my guess (and personal choice) would be Erastil for this AP.
Question: how much awesomer would this AP be if I play a cleric of Erastil with access to this Chap 2 Erastil article? :) Part of me now want to prepare my character background using this article, but another part of me is afraid some campaign elements will get spoiled by the no doubt fine comb reading of the article I will do while preparing...
Question 2: will there be other Paizo products (companion or chronicle) that tie-in with Erastil and perhaps enhance a cleric character? (I'm thinking the domain power of the plant domain has some nice potential for expansion... wooden fists are beyond cool)
Purple Dragon Knight |
James, SKR: feel free to drop any hints here... I'm shooting for a cleric of Erastil (or a "something" of Erastil... as long as it's a divine caster of some sort, so I'm not against the idea of exploring some of the new advanced player's guide classes)
But bottom line: is Chap 2 of this AP pretty much "the shizzles" in terms of Erastil play knowledge/options, and is there a player's guide for this AP?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

There will indeed be a player's guide for Kingmaker. As for Erastil stuff... Pathfinder #32 is pretty much the place to go for all your Erastil needs.
Sweet! thanks for chiming in James. If you don't mind me asking, what are we roughly looking at in terms of arrival date for the player's guide? will it be free a-la-CoT?
Cheers!

All Player's Guides from here on out will be free PDFs. They'll generally release at about the same time the first volume in an AP ships to subscribers, I think...
