Well, I did $50. I may bump it up to the $100 or $250 if some extra money comes in. ~thinks~ Would it be possible to bump up my cotribution at a later date?

WOOT!!! TOTP!!! ~grins~ No, I will NOT threadjack this thread. ~thinks again~ Uh oh! I am doing it again! ~RUNS~

It looks like kickstarter allows it by clicking on 'manage your pledge' its a blue button toward the right of the screen.

Posted something on the dumpshock forums (community for Shadowrun).

Sweet! Thanks.

I just have to say ... ummm ... wow!

I just have to say that I, personally, am both humbled and honored by the initial surge of support. Seriously, THANK YOU all for jumping in with both feet.

We've set quite a challenging goal for this fundraising efforts ... but that's just so we can give you exactly the best product we can conceive--the product we'd want, if we were on the other end of this patronage system.

It is still an open question whether, when all is said and done, we'll succeed at this effort and be able to do that ... but one thing is certain: The support and assistance you have given us even at just this early stage makes this a high-water mark in my career in gaming.

So really, from my heart ... thank you.

Now get out there and keep spreading the word!!!

You should spill some of it into your 10x10 toons. Subliminal advertising. ;)

I know at least one contribution went up earlier today, and when I was looking through the links it did look like you can edit the amount of the pledge.

Hot damn, me too!

Only one of the first six are left!!

Looks like #6 just got taken!

How many of the six are here? Myself, Koloktroni and Urizen - anyone else?

Me!

Putting my money where my mouth is tomorrow.

$50 - $200

Plus an extra $200 next month.

Silver Crusade

Made my pledge. And to think I was going to spend my bonus check on a mere sword. This is much cooler.

I know, I was there when the game came out in 84 and I was there when they wanted to revive it into D20 - right before the collapse of 3.5

Hell, I even suggested a PFRPG version of the game on the yahoo group - not that I would have wanted a ruleset based on d20 - just anything to keep the brand alive.

Chill was the best horror game out there, again - sad

Dark Archive

I got in on the $50 and wish I could do more. If I win the lotto I'll definitely consider more. ;-)

Silver Crusade

Contributed $250!

Wow 13 $250 contributers. They may have to work on an npc supplement at this rate.

It was! I loved Chill so much. If there ever was a patronage project to resurrect Chill with reputable creative people like the roster for Pathfinder Modern I'd donate even more than for Modern.

It was, it stood head and shoulders above all others as a "true" horror game, even over that "other" famous ham-fisted, d6 HPL licensed game.

BTW, these are the same guys, - at least some of 'em. Hyrum's company, Otherworld Creations (OWC) currently owns the rights to Chill.

I wonder how much they would consider to sell the rights?

Almost a year ago there such an effort, but it failed. Chill RPG

Another option, of course, is that Chill could be a campaign setting/supplement for P20 Modern to cover Horror options in the system...

Having never played Chill, was it the system itself that made the game great, or the setting/plot/characters? If the former, what elements of the system mechanics were a factor, and could they be integrated into a P20 Modern approach? Those types of answers would likely help SGG understand the needs and focus future development efforts.

Excellent idea, Erian!

I don't think so, both editions of Chill were d100 (far superior to D20 - IMO), and had a system designed to emulate horror in cinema and literature.
Fear checks, current willpower, resolve points (to overcome fear and defeat the baddie by the end), and a non-spell based creature powers and abilities (Evil Way Disciplines) - which had some of the best features I have seen in any game. No, the mechanics which were not d20, were wholly created to facilitate horror gaming.
As far as campaign material, they had some good ideas but much of it was undeveloped due to limitations on money, printed books, etc. I would say that CoC had better modules, but the source books (being all original material) and mechanics put CoC to shame. I could run any type of horror game in Chill (including HPL based horror), with little or no modification. Couldn't say the same for CoC, or anything put out by Palladium, et al. I don't even count the "VTM", since that is not horror role-playing, just pre-Twilight vampire passion play.

Anyway it doesn't matter, I still have my original box set and all the Pacesetter/Mayfair books. Just a shame that such a good game which did what it was designed to do would languish in limbo.

Sorry for the derail

Well i have seen fear and horror mechanics added to d20 games before, everything but the d100 system that you mentioned could possibly be added as optional rules. Its kind of puting the horse before the wood for the cart is cut down but who knows maybe a p20 modern supplement based on it could be added. In which case this is only half a derail ;)

Silver Crusade

Hmm. I'm wondering what to do now in order to garner futher support. Anyone have any thoughts?

Silver Crusade

Hm. The only thing I can really think of is to advertise on different websites. I might just do that on a few sites I frequent.

Exactly. Pimp the project everywhere you post. Refer people to this thread to get their questions answered. Put the Patronage widget on your blog if you have one. Pimp, pimp, pimp!

I truly hope everyone here who said they would lives up to their word and puts their monies where their mouths are. I believe they will because I believe in the honor of Paizoians.

*whispers* Too unsubtle?

I've pressed the SGG crew to put up a specific FB Group for P20 Modern so we can easily suggest it to others. Stan! replied that they'll definitely look into it. :D

Multipy that by 10 and then add some large number to that. Then you might get close to how rabid he is. ~GRINS~

Perhaps, but I want a system to bridge outside of fantasy that would make a lot of my other 3.0/3.5 contents relevant again. Throwing a Star Destroyer at Cthulhu? Yes please.

I've got to ask - how much of the general discussion is going to take place on FB?

See, I don't want one, I've put off having one successfully for years, but I really don't want to miss out on some juicy P20 stuff. I know the project will get it's own design forums (won't it?) when it gets enough cash, but I want to maximize my P20 experience!

Is the FB group just for spreading the word?

Most of our discussions will take place on our Yahoo Group and here, on the Paizo boards, until we hit the funding goal then we'll move the discussions to a patron forum.

Hyrum.

Scarab Sages

What Hyrum said.

A couple of fans suggested a Facebook page, and Facebook is a great way to spread awareness. So, since we listen to our fans and we want to give this project the best possible chance to happen, we went with that idea. And, we'll post things from time to time.

But most of the discussion is going to happen here, and on our yahoo group. We may even point FB people here. Expanding to other outlets is a move to garner more awareness, not shift the community we've already built.

And yes there will be dedicated messageboards, just for patrons, if this gets full funding. Until then, we see this as out main home.

We just crested $5,000, which is a great start. But we still have a long way to go, so if anyone wants to help, on top of mentioning this elsewhere, it may not hurt to build whole conversations about it elsewhere. That's not something we have time to do, and I'd encourage any such conversations to point back here, but showing real interest on other sites may draw in new supporters who don't come to Paizo at the moment.

And any other ideas anyone has to promote this, feel free to drop us a line. Stan!, Hyrum and I are busy of course, but we do our best to respond quickly and effectively.

I mentioned this to the owner of my local gaming store, and he was at least interested, he said if I had one he'd put up a small sign regarding it. Do you think you guys could provide a pdf or something to print out? Nothing major 8.5x11 will do I am sure. But I know there are people that game that walk into that store but dont really follow many message boards.

Guys, if you do this, please touch up the choice of colours on the logo as the black vanishes into the purple at present. You need something that is going to stand out well.

I have to agree with brock on this one. Maybe the Geniuses should put out a clarion call for people to pitch a better logo.

ok, i figure it cant hurt if its not too much effort on your part. Besides if you give us a printable poster, it may very well be on every telephone pole within a 20 mile radius of urizen's home.
