I genrally agree that dual tower shields seems unworkable. Dual heavy shields largely fits into that category for me too. I do agree though that weapons and fighting styles are influenced heavily by who is using them, what they are intended to be used against, and sometimes where they are expected to be used or how acceptable they might be in a given culture.

I am open to the idea of a fantasy culture developing a style using dual light shields. It looks kinda cool in my minds eye, although I might still have it developed by a more exotic race (i.e. Ogres) and simple allow for it to be adopted by individuals who have chosen to learn the fringe/unique style.

Mostly echoing what has been said. If 5e is as compatible with 3.5 as implied, it will basically be Pathfinder compatible too. I don't know if you'll need some kind of conversion document, or if there will be a system in place to designate which flavor of D&D a game is running. It could well be the case that Paizo wouldn't need to change a thing other than maybe reference which modules are in use. If that's the case, Pathfinder could well already *be* 5e.

Imagine a world where you could pick and choose 5e material for your Pathfinder game, while the Pathfinder brand stays strong through increased sales of adventure modules AND supplemental rules to 5e players.

I may be an optimist but I think 5e could be very good for Paizo, with very little compromise.

Will this product include material from the "Pathfinder Companion: <Race> of Golarion" products?

We'd love to see one, but we have nothing to announce at this time.

I think a video game is inevitable as Pathfinder gains additional market share. There are plenty of game companies out there that would love to do electronic D&D games. Pathfinder offers a clear path into a similar world and player base, without having to deal with the fickle bottom line mentality of Wizards/Hasbro.

As much of a fan of MMO games as I am (I almost never pick up a single player game anymore); an updated Baldur's Gate style game would be great.

I was also a huge fan of the temple of elemental evil game from Atari. It was buggy, but I thought they did an excellent job of translating the game rules and tabletop experience to the screen. A game like that, with appropriate support, would certainly get my money.

Posted something on the dumpshock forums (community for Shadowrun).

$250 pledged. I only intended to do $100, but $70k is a lot of money and I think of myself as the target audience for the product... so I dug deeper.

This'll be my first patronage product.

man.. checking for updates every day. Please, please, post the announcement and take my money. take my money right now dangit! :P

Ah, sure, keeping in mind I don't have time to dig up my slightly more extensive notes.

<..snip cool stuff..>

See. That sounds awesome. I'd totally play that. We aren't all as well defined with our setting ideas as the pros, but many of us have similarly cool settings in our heads...

I'm not sure I'm in love with sourcebooks for eras/genres like D20 Modern had. It's not a gamebreaker for me, but I'd be just as happy with a complete (generic) modern toolset with options for common addons, and a transparent enough mechanic to allow the bolt-on additions needed to realize specific settings. I'd love a new (better) standard base for setting books by various third parties depicting pulp, space opera, modern horror, cyberpunk, and all kinds of modern and future genres I've not even heard of yet.

I cimmited to the $50 initially. I'll certainly bump that up to the $100 mark. $250 could happen because I really believe in the project... but I'm not so concerned with the vanity character. I'll save those character ideas for my own project.

I'm eagerly anticipating this, and intend to follow it the whole way through very closely. I have a concept brewing in my head for a supernatural near-future setting. I'd love for this ruleset to be the one that meets my expectations and allows me to publish it.

Forgive me for not knowing Super Genius Games. I do however know the reputation of the designers mentioned. I loved D20 Modern, and would love an updated/streamlined version in print. I'd participate, and potentially at a higher level than the $50 base one if it meant being able to get more involved with the project, assuming...

* it remains toolboxy enough to let me run everything from pulp action to gritty cyberpunk; and potentially even space campaigns of both the space opera and hard science genres.

* it is highly compatible with pathfinder. I have to be able to use monsters straight from the pathfinder source.

* it remains open enough to allow for solid 3rd party support.

I'd also add that I don't currently collect the Pathfinder products. I've considered doing so just to own them as they always look so cool, but I tend to run more modern games. This product would make the collection of at least choice books a must for me. The potential for this product as a gateway to additional pathfinder sales shouldn't be overlooked.
