The Neverending Story. We're about halfway through it.

Was "The Neverending Story" a book before the movie? I did not realize it, if that's the case. I think I'd like to read it myself.

Yes, it was. The events of the movie are pretty much just the first half of the book with some major changes to make it more screen friendly. And the second half of the book is the second movie with some...you get the idea. It's by Michael Ende. You should check it out.
