Basically a sock puppet is a lie. Someone who has made up this personna and passed them off as a real person.
That why for the most part we want a pic with the date, so we know it is you and you just took the photo.

To sum up, it's basically making an alternate identity to decieve others online.
For example, if I put a product up and it sucked, a less ethical version of me might create. "Bill Smith" "Ted Logan" and "Carl Anderson" as seperate accounts instead of alieses, and write glowing reviews of my sucky product.
It is also used for the argue from authority falicy. Posting various false identies that agree with me, for example.

I don't even know about most online photo sharing sites. Me and camera's are not usually the best of friends. Or more like, I don't own an actual digital camera, but my laptop has a built in webcam so I can get the most basic of pictures

Yes, I did. I talk about my school life just about as much as I talk about politics or religion. In other words, the subject turns a reasoned, sane individual who loves to hear new points of view into a self-focused, raving, foaming lunatic who cannot form coherent sentences much beyond rage. Fortunately, I have medication for that now. ;)
