Human

Just a note to warn you all that I'm away all weekend at Fabes's wedding and chances are good that I won't be able to get online. Leaving Saturday morning and due back Monday afternoon.

Human

Back :)

Male not always to the swift nor the strong. Bard6 / Paladin2 / Fighter2 / Magus4 / Dad2

Hope you're enjoying this battle...I spun up the monsters for it...and yes, that was a Blackjack reference. :)

-Ben.

redotting

Human

It feels right to me that the heroic tier last battle should be highly dangerous.

Human

Level 11 is yours if you can just get rid of Tanya one way or another.

Dark Archive

M Zodar

Woot!

Great battle, all - my favorite bit might have been Dorvin coming back from dying to push Tarisaul off the ledge, but well done all around!

I hope it was as much fun to play and run as it was to read. :)

Human

Great fun to run. The baddies had nastily synergised powers and (for once) rolled well enough to be a real danger. Locking the party down in the corner of the room seemed like the way to go and I really felt I had a genuine chance of killing the lot of them at a couple of points. This lot are as tough a teak mind you, so I should have guessed they'd make it out.

Male Dwarf Invoker/Divine Philosopher 14

From the other side of the battle, I was pretty much convinced at one point that we were facing a TPK. I'd even prepared my death speech. Being caught in the corner with area spells going off was not a good situation, because even if the damage wasn't high the effects were nasty. We really needed to spread out further, but doing so would have left people being mobbed individually by the devils. With two effective controllers going at us, it was normal for half the party to be disabled every round. I'm fairly convinced if Dorvin hadn't got to Tarisaul, and then got up, we would have had deaths. But with only one of them available to bombard us, and her powers not always recharging, we could gradually wear down the devils. I'm still rather surprised we're all upright at this point.

Human

It did take pretty much every power all of you had.

I thought it was going to be a TPK until Dorvin broke for the stairs as well and like you, am somewhat surprised (and relieved) that there were no deaths.

"This is madness!"

Yes, that was great fun. We really need a dedicated ranged bod.

Human

Guldarin does a fine job and rather large amounts of damage for a controller, but point taken.

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

I thnk we're a great group, but the last battle was a clear indication that back up ranged weapons (as Rusty has - nice one BTW!) are a really good idea.

Are we all sticking around? And of those who are, are you playing the same PC?

Male Humanoid Lurker 1/ Nerd 1

Yeah, that was a great fight. I just wish I remembered Impenetrable Warding earlier. Maybe then I could of actually did things for more of my turns.

Also, if this game continues I'll still be here with Isari.

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

I'm sticking with Dorvin. He is fun to play and an interesting challenge.

Silver Crusade

Male Celestial Cleric of Myself 10/Radiant Servant of Me 10

Nayce isn't going anywhere. I so rarely play such moody characters, so I'm sticking with it.

And it was a great fight. I credit the adventure designers for half and our fantastic DM for the other half :)

Male Dwarf Invoker/Divine Philosopher 14

Guldarin is fun, now that I'm getting used to him. A little tweaking and 11th level.

Human

I hope you do all stick around. There are another two chapters of this epic adventure to go and I'm entirely happy to run it for you. You're a nice group to write for :)

That said, there is an impending event which would allow anyone who wishes to change character (or even just drastically alter one) to do so.

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

Ah, hmm, ok.

Part of me now feels that an archer warlord or prescient bard would be useful rather than good old Dorvers.

Oh yes, would anyone be interested in taking over a PC in a game I'm running?

It's the first Kingmaker adventure and we're using the Savage Worlds rules currently. Let me know if you'd be interested; the group is only a short way in so there's not much to catch up.

Ideally you'd be familiar with the Saavage Worlds rules but there is a free primer from the Pinnacle Games site if you're not.

If you want to retrain Dorvin as an archer warlord, that's fine by me. Changing class is another matter and if you want to do that, I'll send you a separate message about how we handle it.

Male Dwarf Warlord 10

No, I'll stick with him. He's now super durable and pretty much immovable. Levelled up to 11.

>>>>iplay4e profile<<<<

Turns out I still have the offline CB!

Human

Good-oh.

Silver Crusade

Male Celestial Cleric of Myself 10/Radiant Servant of Me 10

For my part, I now have access the new CB which is compatible with my Mac. Just loaded all of Nayce's info and levelled him. How much XP do we have exactly?

(Oh, but on a sour note, errata cost him one point of attack bonus. Phooey. I'll console myself with the fact that shroud damage for paragon tier is 1d6+3 each, as opposed to just 1d6 for heroic tier.)

Human

1617XP taking you to 26,225XP total.

Male Dwarf Invoker/Divine Philosopher 14

Guldarin has his update. Divine Philosopher paragon path, Preserver's Vengeance as a feat. Please try not avoiding damage until you're bloodied, I hit harder that way, thanks in anticipation.

I am wanting to alter the cleric, his set up was not my style, but still keep the name and overall flavor just move some stats and removed melee attack powers

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

By his own admission his previous player was not a cleric man.

He was totally functional and great flavor, just was having a hard time wrapping myself around it, I apologize to the previous player if I sounded harsh it was not my intent

Human

You didn't. It's just that Elor usually plays fighters in our home games.

Sort the chap out to work in some way that is sensible for you. It's always tricky when you inherit a pc.

Same goes for Rusty, who made some tweaks at the time, but may want to make more.

Cool, the Mammonite kytons' lashing chains of coins was a nice touch.

I'll stick around because Rusty would definitely want to make the Mammonites pay. :D

Shield defenders as more my style so I'll take up your offer and retrain him as a Guardian Fighter.

Thank you very much, but Rev deserves well more than half - it's a complicated encounter with a bunch of monster powers and terrain features, and she handled it with her usual aplomb!

Human

Many thanks for the bouquets, but I really can't run the encounter without the material :) It helps me hugely if the monsters and the setting are flavourful as I tend to the visual and need to see it unfolding in my head.

Rusty - absolutely. Change him up in any way you want.

When you're all set, head over to the game thread and we'll set off again.

Male not always to the swift nor the strong. Bard6 / Paladin2 / Fighter2 / Magus4 / Dad2

I've been busy with projects, but I wanted to drop in and see how it was going. Looks like you've all been really cranking on this, and I'm thrilled to see it seems well received. :D

Who knows, maybe you'll head for the Lost City next. ;)

-Ben.

Male Dwarf Invoker/Divine Philosopher 14

"Lost City? Where's that? Oh, hang on, if we knew where it was it wouldn't be lost, right? Has anyone pulled the drawers all the way out of the chest to see if it's there? That's where my lost socks always end up."

Male Dwarf Warlord 10

"I dinnae do well wi' forun food."

Male Half-elf Assassin 14 / Obsidian Stalker

"Wait, the city isn't lost. It's been in my hand this whole time."

Human

Resurrecting this from the bowels of the archives.

As I mentioned on the game thread, you're coming to an end here very shortly. If any of you would like to go on another adventure, I'd be more than happy to run it for you - either with the current characters or another set entirely.

It is fairly tricky to find good Paragon level stuff, but there is some out there.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Silver Crusade

Male Celestial Cleric of Myself 10/Radiant Servant of Me 10

I would love to continue in some capacity - whether as Nayce or another character.

Human

Excellent :)

Fabes wants in as well, although I think he's planning to retire Dorvin.

Any requests for things you'd love to play from anyone?

Ooh, ooh! New Rev higher-level game? Color me hopeful!

I'd be more than happy for a chance to let Guldarin dispense more philosophical musings.

Human

Better and better. So far we have:

Celestial
Fabes
Bluenose
Pat - yes, you're in :)

Sounding like a bit of a dream team so far.

Thanks, Rev!

Looks like you have a controller, and a striker if Celestial keeps Nayce.

I'd love to try a paragon striker, but I'd also be happy to volunteer for leader, depending on party size.

EDIT: I meant to say pure paragon striker, as Tutavak is builot with three roles!

Human

We'll see how it plays out.

Looks like level 12-13 starting point, so I'll hunt around. Lost City has some potential and is much more of a sandbox - which is both good and bad in a pbp. Depending on how many of you are keeping the same pcs, I may well be able to link something in from the original adventure.

As I say, if anyone has a burning urge to try something in particular, let me know.

I want to continue, but may look at another character, i have been having a thing for the shadow classes, could never tell from my image that i like the darker stuff, or my assassin :P Lynore

Human

Team gets dreamier.

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

So, looks like we might have a change of cast. I'll play whatever then. We went from being melee heavy to range heavy in halls, so I will create something to balance out the rest.

The Exchange

M

Rev, I know I'm kinda dropping in on your game and your players here, but I'd like to put my hand up as interested in getting into a 4e game on the boards. If there's space, and you and the others are so inclined, I'd like to create something to go with you. Of course if this fills up with your established players, then I'll quietly slink away to await another opportunity.

Cheers
