YUGOLOTHS would be nice to include, since the Baatezu (Devils) and Ta'anari (Demons) are present, it would be nice to see some of the Neutral Evil outsiders in the new Bestiary.
Thank god I have Monster Manuals I, II, III, IV and V as well as the Fiend Folio, Fiend Codex I & II and other D&D 3.5 books, if I need anything I just convert it to the best of my ability.
Best to my knowledge creatures like Beholders and such could be easily replaced with any number of Lovecraftian horrors - since the shoggoth is there it seems feasible...lol
Perhaps one of the most dangerous monsters there ever was - the Molydeus Ta'anari Demon (from 'Fiend Folio I : Hordes Of The Abyss'), sends the Balor running....Rated at (previously) CR 19, it had an AC of 40, Fast Healing 30, DR 15/Cold Iron AND Good, SR 30, a +1 Dancing Cold Iron Vorpal Greataxe that also overcomes any typed damage reduction on the following rounds if it fails to penetrate, horrific spell-like abilities, continous 'True Seeing' and a Unique 'Poison' attack that can affect other creatures that are IMMUNE to Poison (except constructs, plants, oozes and undead) (creatures that are reduced to 0 Con by the 2d6/2d6 DC 29 poison are turned into MANES (Fiend Folio I) permanently - pretty nasty...lol
I loved the old Yugoloths...great fun. I also have some fun neutralish dragon ideas bouncing in my head right now...

Or alternatively, expand the spectrums of metals and chromatics to Purple, Yellow, Chrome, etc.The concept of a family of dragons based on gemstones, just like we already have a family based on colors and one based on metals, is not closed content. But once you start doing things like having them be neutral, having them have psionic powers, etc. they DO start to edge toward infringement.
I've said this a million times before; we at Paizo DON'T want to ape D&D's monsters more than we have to. The open monsters in the SRD are great, but I'd rather not get obsessed with finding replacements for all of the non-open WotC monsters. I'd much rather develop our own monsters.
I do, as a matter of fact, have an idea for what to do with things like gem dragons, but I'm not quite ready yet to talk about that. And they're different than the ones that are in D&D.
I'm tired of the dragons being "colored", I'd much rather have something like a classical dragon made, like a Lung or even just a dragon that doesn't cast magic or talk with you. A nasty guy who burns up villages and is little more than a beast for slaying. Partly because I play my evil ones too charismatically and the players never want to fight them, they just want to talk.

Templates are especially useful, since you can modify any creature to beef it up.
I remember an old article on the WOTC website called "Fiendish Foes," where they would beef up standard races by adding PC classes and then templates. I remember lycanthropic gnoll rangers being a really cool idea, for example.

Too true. I've always loved these things but rarely been able to find situations in which to use them to full potential. I would love to end a PC or three in their clutches.
Going back to Paizo's tradition of taking creatures of legend and myth and giving them new life: Here's one that was served badly by the game back in the day that could use a Paizo overhaul: the cusith. Considering they turned into the "cooshee" (gotta love them taking the Gaelic and turning it into a phonetic joke of a name) and it went from monster to cool elven pet, I think it would be good if it went back to being the frightening beastie of old.

You know what? Mark my last request from the record, more fey and Celtic myth inspired creatures!

I can't seem to find it now, but there was a posting somewhere (I thought it would be here after a thorough search, but after reviewing the whole thread, I find it is not) - which someone had put up the number of creatures by type, CR, and something else, showing which segments were not properly covered. .....Amusingly enough, many of these aspects will be covered in my Nymian Beastlands content...... :D
Any idea where that thread may have been, outlining the numbers a little more than the previous list of Bestiary/PRD creatures did?
Also, I really think that this is why there should be a stickied thread or else some form of reference document that lists which creatures (and in what mechanics) that have been published in Pathfinder products, for exactly this sort of need for fans and third-party authors. I think PathfinderWiki would be great for this, but it would be nice to have something officially supported by Paizo, at least in terms of a reference list for creatures, feats, spells, and equipment listed in various non-core publications - and even more ideally it would be great to see the 3.5 OGL or PF-unique creatures fully updated publicly, like an errata. I personally find it a little tacky to have stat blocks available but outdated even by the company's own actions (and the conversion to fully Pathfinder RPG mechanics). Much of the previous 3.5-formulated content is very applicable and interesting, and should be given this proper revision - and I think an OGL stat block for those (or a possible archival bestiary for AP, Chronicle/CS, Companion, etc. creatures or other stats/info). If not OGL public material, at least an errata update for those of us who are using the old content in our current and updated games, including PF Society when possible.
I personally need Agathion subtype stats very soon (especially since the Agathion subdomain in the APG makes me think that the Agathion's aura has since changed... *grumbles*) and revised information for those critters and what Paizo has in store for them (or backing them up beyond the bestiary entries). I had considered finalizing Primaethion (either just dinosaur types or both dinosaurs and prehistoric animal types) prior to the release of Bestiary II, but if the basic stats have changed since the release of The Great Beyond.... well, I am getting the analogy of heroin in my head right now, for some reason.
Any chance of a preview of those, or else maybe an upcoming errata/revision document for previous/prior-edition mechanics which might fix the gaps? I even have 'The Vault of Souls' which references books I don't own - what do I do with that? Will those daemons be revised and re-published, or have they already?
Thanks and best wishes,
-will

Al-Qadim had the coolest monsters, but I don't know how many are open content.
Nasnas: Half of a humanoid that hops. How is that not the greatest thing?
Hama: A spirit animal that can call large groups of natural animals to attack their enemies.
Tasked Genies: Better off called lesser genies, but cool concept.
Zaratan: A turtle the size of an island.

Thinking about bestiary 2 there a ton of monsters I would love to see, but I don't see 99% of them as necessary. There are so many. My tag Szarkel is a type of Gith dog used by Githzerai in hunting mind flayers. Obviously the szarkel is not going to make it. In 3.5 I wanted them to convert everything over. By the Monster Manual V the payoff was really low. They are monsters I love. There are ones I dislike immensley. However, by not having Mind Flayers in the campaign it has made me look at the Rakahasa in a new light. I would love to know what monsters are there but it seems I will spoil my fun. I like the idea propsed (sorry Gary)of getting rid of the whole chromatic (evil) vs metalic (good) vs gem (neutral) vs ferric (chaotic) and then the other kind, (Was there a lawful kind?). Perhaps each dragon would be any individual? A dragon would be almost a table. One couldn't just drop a dragon in an encounter the creature itself had to be planned.

Personally,
I'd love a races book as an optional source book, but staff has repeatedly said they don't like to add races. I'd love a book with about two pages of fluff per race, racial abilities, artwork, and then a section in the back with alternate racial favored class bennies, racial trait alternates, etc. Say 20 races that fit various niches. So about 50 pages (just about right for a soft-cover supplement).

I'm not sure if it has been said but more playable races of the not-human-but-short-and-hairy-or-taller-and-pointier-ear-persuasion
and of course the mighty DIRE DUCK!!! Noble steed of the Nixie and defender of ponds everywhere!
A bestiary is not a place for player races. There WILL be about 6 new zero-HD races that'll be quite usable as player races in Bestiary 2, but they're mostly intended to be monsters.
The best point for us to OFFICIALLY add new races is when we look at providing a new campaign area to adventure in.
Such as next year, when we release the World Guide for Tian Xia. Which, at this point, looks like it's gonna have five new official PC races to pick from.

I meant not specifically player races but rather like you said 0-HD races that COULD be played relatively easily by players, sorry for the lack of articulation : )

*sigh*
Any chance of those races making it into a non-Golarian book? Or is it strictly campaign/AP oriented?

How about for bestiary 3 we get a few new monsters found throughout earths mythology and history but have never (at least to my knowlege) showed up in any books?
A short list that I've heard of in my travels

Also could we get a Moa or some other kind of large dangerous flightless bird similar to the terror birds of fiend folio?
Oh and for the asain book will the Ki rin be included?

It's funny how many gaps people communicate openly that I am going to fill with my Nymian Beastlands PF-compatible campaign setting, currently in production. I have plans on quite a few different playable 0-HD races (including catpeople), and I will be including much of the generic material from the recent Tengu Ecology in my own eastern-flavored regions. Many of these will also have optional Racial Hit Die Levels (Base, Advanced, and Paragon Racial HD), and the wonderful APG-treatment as the base races got - and Tengu got on KQ's web article!
And, mdt: the notion I am presenting here will be a comprehensive campaign setting in a limited series run (not an open-ended display of IP dominance with a never-ending list of sourcebooks), which can be used independently of your Golarion games, within them, or whatever way you choose - but it would be a CS all its own. I can't promise this within the next year, but within a year or so of that for sure. ;) I am not quite as fast as our heroes at Paizo, however.
Krewe of Harpocrates Publication is currently set up to distribute through RPGnow.com and Paizo.com, and my series is in production with illustrators beginning work on it now, while I continue to organize and create material for current and future books in the 7-publication core series. It's a huge project, but well-planned and coordinated (finally) and though it will take time to accomplish, I have a definitive list of material goals included in it - many of which I have heard voiced as needs on these messageboards in one way or another. "More plants" "More fey" "More animals/companions/mounts" "More diverse-CR examples of those creature types", etc.
I am utilizing a variety of 3.Xe and third-party OGL materials, as well as a gluttonous mass of new Pathfinder-specific materials which I plan on fully pillaging for inspiration:
Core Rulebook, Bestiary I, Game Mastery Guide, Heart of the Jungle, Lost Colony of Sargava, Kingmaker 1-6, Advanced Player's Guide, The Great Beyond, Modules (Vault of Souls, Realm of the Fellnight Queen), Crimson Throne: Escape from Old Korvosa (for Rakshasas); 3.Xe = Manual of the Planes, Deities & Demigods, Book of Exalted Deeds/Vile Darkness, Races of... Series, Complete... Series, Tome of Magic, Magic of Incarnum, Spell Compendium; Third-party publishers = Secret Societies (Mongoose), Occult Lore (Penumbra), Portals & Planes and many Legends & Lairs products (FFG), Kingdoms of Kalamar complete series (Kenzer & Co), Dreadmire (Spellbinder Games) and countless others that have inspired me for this series.
The Nymian Beastlands core set run will be as follows:
- Omarkan Ecology I: Thunder Lizards & Legends (May 1, 2011)
- Player's Guide to Omarka (September 1, 2011)
- Races of Omarka (that player race guide you mentioned, January 1, 2012)
- Omarkan Ecology II: Primitive Critters & Creeps (December 1, 2011)
- Storyteller's Guide to the Nymian Beastlands (March 15, 2012)
- Secrets of Nym (July 15, 2012)
- Omarkan Ecology III: Terrible Fiends & Foes (August 1, 2012)
Those dates are all tentative, but that's the goal here. If anything gets set back, however..... Well, let's just worry about that if and when it should happen. ;)
I hope that quells some fears about not having enough to work with, and I assure you all that this material will be completely compatible with everything Paizo puts out if an when possible, and that as players you will have your choice about how much or how little you include in your own games. I am making this setting to bring diversity to the market, but it will also be material which is useful to those of you who play Pathfinder homebrew or canon mythos games. I personally play PF Society and love it wholeheartedly, and my goal is to make material that is so well-rounded that it even makes Josh Frost's ears perk up and consider making an offer. ;) :P Yeah, right - I know. Just let me dream and tinker. I've got time now.

Axebeak was in the Bonus Bestiary free PDF. (And is viable as a Diatryma, Phorusrhacos, or other prehistoric - and dangerous - flightless birds.)

Mythos ghouls
The ghouls we already have are in many ways treated as mythos ghouls. They already fill that exact niche. They may look different than Lovecraft describes them, but they already fill that role. No need to reinvent them.
Byakhee, Shaan, Star Vampires
These were not created by Lovecraft, but by other authors whose work has not yet fallen into public domain. If we wanted to stat up these guys, we'd have to secure the rights with the correct authors, estates, or current rights holders. We've done this a couple times before for monsters (such as with Penny Arcade's deep crow, or A.E.Van Vogt's coeurl),but we won't be doing this all that often since we generally can't make these types of monsters open content.
Serpent people
Done; we statted them up a few years ago in "Into the Darklands," and they're the main villian race in...
The ones I didn't comment on, such as shantaks or mi-go or elder things or the great race or rat things (assuming by which you mean Brown Jenkin) ARE things that are in the public domian since they were created by Lovecraft. Some of these will be statted up by us for use in Pathfinder, but not all of them (we generally avoid statting up creatures that are too strongly identified with Earth, since that means that it's not quite logical that they'd appear on other planets like Golarion).

I forgot to list some of the other things Im hoping to see in bestiary 3 and beyond
Formians
Nature dragons (with naturally psychic powers instead of magic)
Gem dragons (themed around the darklands)
Lizardfolk variants
Lycanthropes (wereshark and raven to name a few)
More clockwork monsters (maybe even a clockwork template similar to the effigy one?)
More golems (Alchemical, gear, and paper to name a few)
More Sea monsters (like the recently discovered Leviathan Melville)
New Inevitables
Rilmani (by another name/look if necessary)
Planetouched for Elemental, Lawful, chaotic, and neutral denizens
Psychic monsters!
Spellweavers (or something equivalent and more flavorful)
Wemic's! (yes the Lion like Centaurs)
New dinosaurs! specifically the following
Allosaurus
Pachycephalosaurus
Spinosaurus
Parasaurolophus
Dilophosaurus
Dimetrodon
Igaunodon
ichthyosaur
Mosasaur

With regards to the ghouls issue, I can entirely understand your position, though personally i think there is enough difference to make it worth a seperate treatment. Between changeling child elements from pickmans model, to the transdimenional burrows.
I didn't realises about the Byakhee and co, not yet having entered the public domain. It is rather sad, specifically in the Byakhee's case, because they are really cool.
Serpent peopl = D'oh...i completely missed that, time to look again at the products mentioned in regards to them. Thank you, James.

I've always found humans, dinosaurs, and bears to be strongly identified with Earth, and I have no problem with them being on Golarion. Just saying. ;)

There are way too many monsters I would like to see in a future bestiary to count, but I do have a special request:
Will we see monsters already published in the Adventure Paths in official bestiaries or something like the Pathfinder Adventure Monster Compendium ?
Straightforward enough, a bestiary filled with all the monsters presented in the Adventure Paths.
That's my only wish at the moment, but that's a pretty big one.
