There are ripples, but you see no one.

Amanda will follow Galadar and cast Dancing Lights and move them close along the surface of the water. Can she 'push' them through the surface of the water?

Female Halfling Cleric 5

Eria begins to head towards the east wall "Come on if we hurry we may still be able to head him off." she yells to the others.

"Aye" Ewald replies and moves quickly towards the archway first.

Double move towards the arch..or if it is further than that a sprint move(5 times movement)

Perception checks for those investigating the water. I'm going to say no about pushing the lights through the water but I'm being lazy and not even looking it up.

Those heading for the opening see a tunnel heading on a sloping angle downwards.

Perception 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue 6

Perception 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26

I reload my crossbow as I scan the water.

You can't see anything in the water.

Male Human Ranger 6(favoured Class)

Ewald moves to one side of the arch his back against the wall as he knocks an arrow then steps around the corner bow pointing down the slope

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue 6

With a shake of my head, I follow the others towards the archway.

There is a closed door to the left of the opening.

The tunnel in the rock does not seem entirely natural. It's slope is to steady and its shape to circular for a tunnel carved by water. It slopes and curves gradually. You can't see further than 40 ft. because of the curve.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue 6

Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
Stealth: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (12) + 18 = 30

With a motion of my hand to the others to indicate my intention to spy out ahead, I creep stealthily into the tunnel, moving slowly, looking for any signs of traps or an ambush.

Galadar sees nothing dangerous near the tunnel but the hairs stand up on the back of his neck and he turns to see that mysterious figure on the deck again.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue 6

Assuming my companions are watching my movements, I gesture towards the ship, alerting them to the figure's presence.

Amanda will turn to look at the ship. What is it? Did we miss something?

Perception 1d20 ⇒ 20

Male Human Ranger 6(favoured Class)

Ewald looks at the new figure with a pained expression..."Who the devil is that..is he a threat to us or an ally..Remind me to take a full company of troops the next time we get a job like this will you."

The man wears clothes that seem somewhat out of date, but otherwise suitable for a merchant captain -- practical for sea and combat but of high quality indicating he isn't a typical deckhand. He stares at you intensely and then vanishes.

Male Human Ranger 6(favoured Class)

"Oh God's above do not tell me we have ghosts and spirits to deal with also."

Female Half-Elf Rogue 3/ Urban Ranger 2

"#%^*%&!"

The god's above say nothing on the subject either way.

Amanda circles back around to the gangplank to get back onto the ship. Are the pseudo-walls still on the deck?

No, the pseudo-walls are not. They slipped down below after the splash.

Amanda, if you are being stealthy, could you make a stealth check. In either case, a Perception check.

I'm afraid curiosity has control of this cat. She's not rushing, but she's not intentionally trying to be stealthy, either.

Perception 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (12) - 1 = 11

Amanda Veiled wrote:

Perception 1d20-1

Amanda climbs back on the ship uncontested.

Ewald watches Amanda reboard the ship.."What is she....I swear this is like trying to herd cats"

Meow. Can't help it - it's in my blood.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue 6

With loaded crossbow in hand, I head back towards the ship, but do not go back aboard, yet.

Female Half-Elf Rogue 3/ Urban Ranger 2

Lilandra growls to herself and prepares to re-board, crossbow at the ready.

When Amanda realizes the others may follow, she holds up a hand and shakes her head. She mouths, "Not yet," and proceeds slowly along the deck toward where the figure was spotted.

The ghostly figure does not reappear.

Female Halfling Cleric 5

"Not wanting to rush anyone or anything but the man we are after is getting away."

Amanda, hearing Eria, motions the others after the fleeing man, but she stays where she's at, saying something too quiet to hear from shore.

Spoiler:
"Who are you? What keeps you here? Why have you not gone over? Can we help you?

She will do this for two rounds, wandering around the deck in the area of the apparition, before giving up and double-moving to catch up with the others.

Male Human Ranger 6(favoured Class)

Ewalds gives an impatient grunt.."Agreed Eria..lets get after him if Madam over there wants to join us she can..I for one want to finish this one way or the other."

He begins to descend the slope.

I don't believe this I just realised that I forgot to apply my favoured enemy bonus against Poltur..on every roll..AARRRRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

You have not actually seen Poltur since you climbed up from the hold of the ship.

Male Human Ranger 6(favoured Class)

I still forgot to apply a +4 to all my attacks on him..oh well no point crying over it

Ewald descends the ramp hoping the others will follow him.

Amanda, murmuring something, remains near the ship while Ewald begins to descend the slope. Who goes where?

Female Half-Elf Rogue 3/ Urban Ranger 2

Liandra follows warily

Male Human Ranger 6(favoured Class)
Liandra Nightwind wrote:

Follows who?

The intent was for Amanda to be on the deck near the apparition's last known location.

Amanda, seeing some of the others hesitate, motions them to follow Ewald.

The sloping tunnel continues downward and around a bend. From the direction it is heading, it should be taking you further into the island.

Back on the ship, the phantom does not reappear.

With a sigh of unrequited curiosity, Amanda double-moves to catch the others, slowing to move stealthily (if they appear to be) when they come into sight.

Male Human Ranger 6(favoured Class)

Stealth 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24

Motioning the others to stop before they reach the bend Ewald nocks an arrow and creps forwards to take a look.

The tunnel continues to slowly descend and bend. As it descends, it moves further away from the lights that illuminate the cavern/secret port above. Light source?

Male Human Ranger 6(favoured Class)

Ewald removes the cover from his ever burning torch (which is stuck in his quiver so as to leave his hands free)

The tunnel, which slopes down so smoothly and is so perfectly constructed that it is obviously of magic origin, continues deep into the island. Your best estimates would put you at least 100 ft. below sea levelyet it is perfectly dry. You descend until you reach another large cavern. To your left are two large doors (about 40 ft. high and 20 ft. wide each). A series of chains and pullies support them. By their direction, they would open up to a space beneath the port you just came from. To your right, is yet another large cavern. This one has very little water in it. To your far right, the tunnel continues.

Once Amanda gets within 15' of the last member of the party, she will slow down to their pace and use her darkvision to watch their backtrail.

Tarren:
Are there wet footprints on the slope? Perception 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2 LOL, why do I even try...

Amanda Veiled wrote:

** spoiler omitted **

Amanda:
Not that you can see. You fell and bumped your head when you tried to walk backwards and look.

Knowledge (Engineering) checks would be appropriate if seeking info on this structure.

So, you are now far below sea level and far below the port you stood at previously. There is a dry cavern here and a large tunnel exiting it. There are some massive doors similar to those that allowed access to the port where you found the ship. You figure they would open on to something beneath the port where you found the ship and fought the mimics ... something 100 ft. below that port. Questions? Plans?

Male Human Ranger 6(favoured Class)

Are there any walkways along side this dry waterway?

No paths per se. You can easily walk across it, as it is dry, but it does look like it could be filled with water and you would not be able to walk across it then.
