Okay, how many times a day do you guys type out a post and then say, naa, I don't need to post that? For me, I'd say it's usually twice a day.

And Taig, would you settle for WTF? and still letting it past? ;)

well my youngest son just walked in from school, seems he forgot to wear a shirt under his sweatshirt today. So basically he went to school half dressed, his teachers must think I am an idiot. Its what I get for being half awake this morning and not double checking.

Solnes, does the Moral Philosophy professor need to come in here to get you off this guilt thing? Cuz I can let him out of the cage, if it is necessary.

about 12, but most of the time I am at work and have a long while to rethink a post before I actually post it.

Everything I type is golden. Deneir filled his Metatext with my wit and wisdom before he was snuffed.

If I'm trying to be serious, I give up about 75% of the time before hitting Submit... so probably 3 or 4 times a day (depending on topics involved and my random brain chemistry for the day).

Huh? I thought I was the one who was guilt tripping this time...

If there is a loophole or hiccup in a parent's vigilance, your kid will always find it. It has nothing to do with your parenting skills.

But I'm only an aunt, so take it with a shaker of salt...

I stop myself from posting all sorts of goofy things, not just skreeds.

"Wow, SKR, I have the exact same pair of red socks that you have. Which reminds me of something funny that happened back in the winter of 89..."

And of course, I'm happy to say I've cut my stalking of Jacobs down by more than 50%. Even though deep down I'm pretty sure he's dying to hear everything I have to say, I figure, hey, give somebody else a chance to shine. ;P

You too! Demmit, you ladies are making it tough to keep him down.

Lynora, sorry, yeah, it was your post that provoked him. Believe it or not, I'm actually getting other stuff accomplished while posting, so sorry that I read and responded in haste.

I think he meant you, but assumed that you are all part of the SoFaWTL hivemind, so giving her the message was as good as telling you directly.

Or he's been cannibalizing on the loco weed. :)

Proly that too.

All the time. I am a cranky contentious kind of monkey, and I have a lot of opinions about stuff. Sometimes, I get riled up, and I have to remember that the Internet is not the best method of communicating on touchy subjects. Sometimes, you gotta just let it slide. I'm just glad that rules discussions don't entertain me.

Of course, sometimes I fail my Will save and post.

I still fight the skreeds too, but I try to avoid going near problem threads. If I don't read it, I don't have to argue futilely in it.

James spends so much time at work and on the boards, he may not be able to tell what is real and what he is hallucinating. As long as you keep him amused, you are probably keeping him sane.

All the time.

If I actually submitted every post I started to type, people would probably think I was a total asshat. Fortunately I have a "is this post going to make me look like an asshat" filter that works (about 40% of the time...)

That's ok. We talked about lunch in front of you. Plus, I'd be craving a milkshake as soon as the next Steak-n-Shake commercial airs.

Nothing wrong with talking about good food, as long as everybody gets to have some later. right? :)

Now to try and work on some more Gestalting for my RL game. The work never ends.... ;D

lol. 'sokay. And don't worry. This is the normal knee-jerk response to being told that you need to medicate your kid. I have ADHD. I know how this goes. Rationally I know that this doesn't mean I'm doing anything wrong as a parent. Emotionally, that realization is going to take a little longer.

Uh ohs. I'm worried because these two thoughts are connected in a post. Did I do something "weird" and not realize it? :)

I have a post or two that I scrap a day, either because I've taken too long to come up with a response or when I read it, it sounds obnoxious. Well, more obnoxious than usual.

No-no-no...

I'm the weirdness that connects those thoughts, not you.

M, in response to the second comment, when I got a critique from SKR and Clark, they basically said that my item was not fun (I think Clark referred to it as one of the worst items in the contest).

Heh. No, I try to be careful about what I post, because getting into virtual arguments just isn't worth it. But I've definitely reconsidered on a fair few while I was writing.

I'm a big fan of June & Ward, too. I try to pull her out whenever I possibly can.

Damn. I either completely missed that or forgot it. Saying it's not fun, okay, but the parenthetical comment is harsh. I mean, I get stuff that sucks all the time, but I vent outloud while I grade and translate what I put on paper, if I put it down at all. "The logical thread could have been stronger throughout your essay" (=I have never read such incoherent shit in my entire life! Were you stoned when you wrote this, or did you type the essay with your ass and get lucky by making actual words?!)

Sorry that happened, Taig. Maybe it will fuel your success this year!

ROFLMAO!

I used to feel this way editing the trash the 2nd louies would send my paper. It is amazing how someone can still torture the English language after going through four years of college. Do they even teach grammar anymore?

Caveat: Clark said he'd be honest, and I said I was OK with an honest appraisal. I think I overreached with my item last year.

All the same, it's gotta be therapeutic to vent about garbage you get from your students.

OK, I can understand the long hours and umpteen thousand submissions they have to judge. But that last comment was uncalled for. If I found myself getting ready to type a comment like that, then it's time for me to take a long break or quit for the day.

I'm glad it hasn't discouraged you, Taig. Good luck this year (email me your idea if you'd like).

OK, you said you werent afraid so I am giving it to you.

I wrote:

"I just dont want fights like this. I dont like the ally-enemy swap. That is just un-fun. I'm sorry. Reject."

The others were equally unimpressed. In fact, this one was noted as one of the worst of the contest.

You asked for it :)

Normally I would have edited that. But those are some of the comments we make. That is why we dont just make our judges boards public. We dont want to bruise feelings.

Please remember, we are talking about ITEMS here not PEOPLE. We are not commenting on you as a person. Just your item and its relative merit in this contest. That's all. In fact, as you know, I am very impressed with everyone who enters. We are talking about sorting out items in a pretty elite group--those with the cajones to enter this contest. You did that. Your item just didnt make the cut. But we cant take away from you the fact that you entered which in and of itself is awesome. I hope you come back next year dedicated to knocking our socks off and saying "take that you fiend!" (bonus points if you get the reference)

Now I'm thinking I was insensitive. Didn't mean to vent at yr expense, Taig ol boy. I wasn't saying the two were commensurate, I was just saying that even in cases where something really is horrible, I think people shouldn't go out of there way to be cruel when they feel they must give negative feedback.

It's like Solnes' reaction to the advice she got (in fact, in light of that, a bad critique is nothing in comparison). I can laugh about it now. I'm weird in that I'd rather hear something than "Um, thanks but no thanks." For some reason, that gnaws at me more than getting direct feedback.

You know I keep getting told that, but my first two entries were well boring, and the item I came up with after the fact while cool, I have already released and don't want to be a one trick pony.

I would say he did a good job of softening the blow.

I agree about getting direct feedback. But "You were the ugliest girl in the pageant, but hey, being the ugliest girl in Miss America is really something good" is not something I'd say or recommend others say. I'd rather have constructive feedback.
