For the convenience of 'Friday nighters' Rob Silk has made a pdf of this year's balti menu available on the PaizoCon UK site on this page: *Link*

Contributor

That has got to be one of the finest handouts I've ever seen.

Huzzah!

Dribbles more.

Sorry guys but I don't think I'll be joining you for curry night..highly spiced food just doesn't agree with my stomach.

I linked to the page the pdf link is on...

I didn't link directly to the pdf in case that caused a problem for some weird technical reason.

Don't pay him any attention Charles.

(Iolaus! LOL!)

DM Wellard: Have a look at the menu and see if there's anything you find agreeable. Otherwise, see you at the conference centre mate.

Early arrivers should be warned that tomorrow [Friday] is the last day of Graduation Week at Aston University, and in consequence there may still be large numbers of graduates all over the grounds being photographed with relatives and partying.

Well, you could always eat earlier and come along for the company and a cup of tea. I did that last year. :)

Oh, yes, and the weather report from Birmingham this week has been rainy, showery, more rain, and occasional humid and/or very sunny spells.
Traditional Great British Summer Weather in other words... :)

Apart from the presense of the occasional glimpse of sun.

Occasional spells of sun are traditional for continental interior England... Especially when you're trying to work out if you need to get the watering can out for the garden.

Hurrah! It is now balti day!

Transport Update:
Expect possible delays to train services in and out of Birmingham New Street for the next few hours after this post. A local service broke down (something wrong with the overhead wires) at about half past twelve a couple of miles out of the city centre on the Lichfield Line (only double track, and I know it broke down since I happened to be on it) and everything may well have been thrown out of whack going through such a busy station as New Street as a result. I would hope that signallers would give intercity services such as Virgin some priority in transit through the resultant schedule meltdown, but it is possible that even those may take some hits in terms of being held up going in/out of New Street.

Edit:
And I just want to say Odysseus had it easy. He may have been shipwrecked several times going home from Troy, but I seem to remember he spent most of his time dawdling around with beautiful women, and didn't have to walk very much.

I think Rob listed the books they wrote on the PaizoCon UK site, if you check for links on the page about special guests...

Edit:
Yes. Check the links for the profiles for Richard Pett and Josh Frost.

Dammit! Forgot PF2 for Mr Pett to sign. Also forgot dice, and markers to use on flipmat.

On train now, dice bought in Manchester on the way...

Apologies for not making it this year. At about five o' clock this afternoon, having been in the field on one errand of another for about seven hours running various last minute errands, I was just about falling asleep on my feet, and had to head home. I've only just eaten an evening meal after sleeping for more than five hours.
Hope you all have fun, and thanks to Josh & Paizo for the mini.

And yet, you still appeared! Now that is dedication. Glad to see you in person finally. Thanks for all those horrendously high damage rolls against our PCs that you rolled for Richard! ;->

GMing games at cons rocks. Thanks to my players at table 4 this morning, I had a blast and I hope you did too.

Wintergreen kicks ares at the GMing game. A really good fun module, expertly run.

I was hoping that Mr. Pett would add to the list of casualties from last year. Sadly the criticals and fumbles decks went unusued and no PCs shuffled off to that great crumpled character sheet bin waiting to be emptied into the shredder. Then again, through over-cautious (though not unreasonable) use of large quantities of fire, the PCs never did get to track down the true source of the trouble in the Margrave (spelling?) Forest, and pets and wild animals continued to fall prey to the incipient madness.

And seeing a conjured creature turn on its summoner was fairly neat...

You did a fine job Charles, like the splendid players who, alas, we couldn't slaughter between us - although Mark did enter the spirit of things by being scythed to -12, which was a reasonable result, and Brett managed to solve another adventure, which makes 2 running and therefore makes him a marked man. I can see next year I'm going to have to get him on MY side...thinks (hmmmmm).

Spoiler:
Plus seeing Mark's face when he faced a +12 attack at 1st level was worth the trip in itself!

Bravo chaps.

Have a blast today, Annie's party was great by the way, and the wicker man was just begining to burn as I arrived, alas I failed in my subtle mission to abuduct Josh this year, but hopefully there's always next year for him to come visit our little community.

Huzzah and a large Mnar to Dave and Rob.
Rich

It was great being there, and meeting old friends and new.
I've been fighting off a cold today, and am losing the battle... :-/ So I hope I haven't passed it on to anyone!

Grand Lodge

Best PaizoCon UK yet! I had a really great time meeting up with everyone. And I finally got GMed by Rob! Hope the people I ran games for enjoyed it, goblin giggles and all...

Many, many thanks to Dave and all the organisers, you did a stupendous job!

Pete.

I just want to thank everyone for making my first PaizoCon UK a thoroughly enjoyable experience, and I'm looking forward to attending next year!

The Exchange

Not long back from Birmingham and still unpacking but I thought I should have a quick look here. Thank you all for the kind words and a very big thank you to everyone who attended, particularly all who GM'ed for us. I will make a fuller post later and name names.

Thanks!

That! Was! A! Blast!

Thanks to everyone at the tables I played at - you were all great!

Thanks to my GMs: Shawn, Richard, Rob and Dave - you were all fantastic!

Thanks to the scenario writers - they were excellent!

Thanks to Josh - for masterminding Saturday night, bringing The Book and for signing my name badge - I wonder if I put down what you wrote, would my post get flagged? Hmm... ;->

Especial thanks to Dave (yes, twice) for organising the whole thing - what a success!

Special mentions:
Avoiding death by such a narrow margin at my first con with my first character on his first adventure was nail-biting but rewarding. I now hate the dark (when my character is not the one creating it). Thanks Shawn.

The desperation evoked by Richard Pett on his villagers wanting my paladin to be their new spiritual leader (at least until they had built that wicker man). Talk about the blind leading the blind! Thanks Richard.

The sheer spectacle and blockbuster feel of The Year of the Shadow Lodge, with its unrelenting pace and epic proportions. Thanks Josh, and thanks Rob!

The inspiration that is Miss Feathers (no relation to Bob, I think) and the puns of that bard. Thanks Dave! (yes that is three thanks to Dave now)

I ended the weekend exhausted but happy, and found the PS bunch of folk to be friendly and funny, interesting and great to hang out with. I shall definitely do this again. Cheers guys!

** spoiler omitted **

Bravo chaps.

Well, I did roll three ones in that adventure, but (un?)fortunately I managed to escape the fumble deck on all three occasions.

We never did find that old guy's 'little treasures, loved more than life itself' either did we?

Oh well :-)

Indeed..'twas verily a blast.

Nice to put more faces to names on these boards..and having the privilege of having Josh as my GM for what must have been among the most grinding fights of my playing career in Among the Dead.

Year of the Shadow Lodge was fun if chaotic and a big thanks you to hris who stepped up to help GM it at the last moment

The high point was Steve's Troll Auger on day 2..I don't think any off us will ever quite get over that.

I thought Mr Bigsley might get strung up, after I harassed the bereaved.

Good job the scenario wasn't set in Hartlepool...

My first Paizocon UK, I'll be back!

Congrats on a well organised, well run event. Thanks to all those who GM'ed both days. Did the SORD PF help at all (forgot to ask)?

Shadow Lodge thingie, ran a bit too long, hopefully that will be fixed or more time allocated when it's next run. An interesting experiment. I'd suggest making it clearer when the various parties are affecting each others results, maybe some form of tally board to record successes?

Sunday modules based in a city were more fun for me, a change from dungeons, but that may be because I was playing a Bard and it was tier 3, or was it the quality of the writing and the GM?

Paizo Employee Chief Creative Officer, Publisher

So glad to hear that the event was such a success this year! I've had such a great time getting to meet and play with our UK contingent at Gen Con UK and Dragonmeet these past years, so I can only imagine what fun you all must have had.

Here's hoping more of us here at Paizo can make it out to future PaizoCons UK, and here's hoping that more of you guys can make it out to future PaizoCons US.

Hooray for the "special relationship" between the US and the UK, and hooray for international PaizoCons!

Thanks. I think the SORD was helpful as a confidence boost for GMs. I don't know how many made use of it at the table.

The Year of the Shadow Lodge was a playtest and I'll send on any comments/suggestions to Josh. I think the time allocated to some sections could be reduced.

Glad you enjoyed The City of Strangers adventures. Those were my favourites to run.

Thank you Erik. It seems that Paizo have always managed to create a special relationship with us UK fans. We certainly had a great time and very reluctantly let Josh go back!

A few of us are certainly talking about making the trip over for a future PaizoCon US so be careful what you hope for ;-)

Miranda wrote:

I have to admit, I completely forgot about it until half way through running the second (and last) game. I had enough experienced players about that I just asked the table and went with the consensus on any matters I couldn't remember.

Liberty's Edge

Well, it's back to being a Muswell Hillbilly for me and it seems rather dull after meeting all you weird folk at PaizoCon UK with yer summoned munkies and yer strange pupil-less eyes and yer strange fancy for eating screaming worms.

Thanks you all for the energy exchange. Every table I had the honour to GM gave me a great big buzz of entertainment. Even the darkest adventure was lit up by your shrieks of pain and laughter.

The only disappointment was for Miss Feathers, who hoped for a more substantial form of exchange but maybe he'll get lucky at the next PaizoCon. Ah ha! Wait a minute...there's Oddcon and Dragon Meet and Conception and all manner of locations to set an ambush. I hope we'll meet up again soon.

Thanks so much for coming and making PaizoCon such fun.

I blame Dave...

...for organising another fun-packed weekend of gaming and I still stand in awe of the GMing stamina of both Dave and Rob. Thanks also to Mark for his GMing of the two Sunday slots. I had a blast. Roll on PaizoCon UK 2011!But in the meantime here's to seeing more familiar faces at Oddcon and Conception.

Not sure I'm to blame for all of that ;-)

Still sorting through through things but looks like we raised about £500 with the auction. Thank you to all of you who bid.

A really big thank you to you everybody who came along. It couldn't happen without you all and I'm always worrying that nobody is going to turn up!

An absolutely fantastic group of players and you made sure every GM enjoyed it.

Thank you to our guests Richard Pett and Joshua Frost. Fine fellows who were willing to talk with us throughout the weekend.

Thanks to Charles Evans and Rob Silk for all their behind the scenes work and efforts.

Thank you to Paizo for producing a game and scenarios that encourage such enthusiasm.

A huge thank you to everyone who GM'ed at the convention (particularly those who at the last minute stepped in to run The Year of the Shadow Lodge special event):
Andrew Glenn, Anthony Metcalf, Christopher Woldridge, David Bone, Jens Loesel, Joshua Frost, Mark Noblet, Peter Pollard, Phil Lucas, Rob Silk, Russ Emslie, Shawn Comiskey, Si Hedges and Steve Pennington.
(If there’s anybody I’ve missed out then let me know)

A very special thank you to Rob Silk, Mark Noblet and Russ Emslie. I couldn’t have done it without the exceptional efforts of you guys.

So when shall we start up the PaizoCon UK 2011 thread?

Sovereign Court

Tomorrow, so I can send my check in to book my place!

It sounds like this year was a blast, makes me sad to have missed it, but that's half the fun of student life I guess (crippling poverty). The other half being beer. But I'm hoping to be there next time!

Yes, the sooner the better! Certainly looking forward to next year's excursion and I've had so much fun I'm going to try and work on the wife to let me attend Conception for more Society shenanigans.

My only roadblock? First night is our wedding anniversary. An ideal opportunity to get her involved with the hobby methinks...

We were sorry you missed it too. People were asking if you were around. And we made sure there was beer available ;-)

So hopefully see you and many others there next year! (Oh what am I letting myself in for?)

Yes, yes and more yes! I'd like to think I'll get over to the US sometime, but let's face it, the cost is rather more than the 50 quid train ticket to Brum I needed this time, so our family social secretary/treasurer would need quite some persuading on that one.

But by all means come over to Britain!
