Sorry, more about Hollow.

OK, just to give you all a chance to hide away from the knock, knock, knock to come on Saturday.

Hollow is a 1st level adventure that is heavier on role-playing than combat. The PCs must use cunning as well as muscle to overcome the terrible menace(s?...) that lurk somewhere in the forest of Margreve.

Is this scenario running at the same time as slot 2, or slot 3?

And I assume that if you apply, you play it instead of that slot, so does it count toward PFS progression, or is it a totally unrelated event?

Also, is it possible to play Hollow (till the end, or until an untimely demise), then drop into The Year of the Shadow Lodge while it's running?
(Justified as your PC having passed out in a sideroom, having partaken of too much Pathfinder Punch, and woken up by the commotion...)

It will be running in slot 2 (Richard can't stay for slot 3 unfortunately) and it is not a Society scenario so doesn't count towards that. It will certainly be possible to play this and then play in the The Year of the Shadow Lodge too.

I have a problem of public transport reliance meaning I would be gone before it was over by the sound of it. :(

Ah well, have fun.

I will be coming now; I'll be there on Friday and Saturday! See you there!

Ah, bums. Didn't know that. Still, does that mean if my character dies during it, it doesn't matter either? Not that I'm expecting the worst, you understand :-)

Dear Pathfinder Lodge,

Ahead of our annual flurry of adventures, I should like to confirm that, as per last year, servants will be provided for all Taldan nobility.

I cannot envisage it being otherwise!

If you take part in a multi-slot adventure, do you get multi-slot xp? I'm thinking about City of Strangers here...

I thought you already were from your posts earlier?! Well, it will be good to see you.

This has got me wondering though - what proportion of people who are coming are lurking on these boards and this thread in particular? I'm assuming at least 50% but could be wrong. Certainly before I knew I was definitely coming I only lurked - trying to work out how much I wanted to come (very much, in case you're wondering).

Alternatively, it would be good to know exactly how many paizo message boarders are from the various countries - it's obvious that the USA has the vast majority of people, but numbers here in Europe would be good. And then what proportion of them are members of the PFS.

Hmm... and more hmm...

I like stats.

@dazzler Most of the people on the table I played last year weren't from the forums....That surprised me. Will be asking again this year ;)

I think the majority of UK players don't really post here. And even on our paizocon uk website there are many lurkers registered and a surprisingly large number who aren't coming and haven't played PFS at any other UK conventions.

That's interesting - I was kind of presuming that they were based on the need to register with Paizo online to get your society number. Am I missing something here.

And for the record, my Alias is Dazylar and not the same as the eighties X-men pop star

:-)

I knew you wouldn't be able to resist. It's a disturbing image, isn't it? Although, for the record I think you're about 3 years too early with that reference.

It'd be more David Bowie in that Pierrot costume.

Even worse image!

I don't get it then. How do they keep informed? And what are those lurkers doing? I must admit - I'm one of them, but that's because the forum is really awkward to use.

My line of thought exactly. I wouldn't have expected pathfinder, and the society to have a big presence outside this community, precisly because the community binds so well. I was proven wrong though, and I guess that's a good thing....

Ditto, except I'd also say that all the relevant info is also posted here...and I already brows these boards....

Those who have registered PFS numbers are registered on the Paizo site so will receive the email newsletters and I guess they will sometimes browse these and other boards. But there are a surprisingly large number of roleplayers who don't look at any online forum and so are not informed. Even with shops run by roleplayers there is a lack of knowledge about conventions happening nearby and who is playing games.

I hope that while PaizoCon UK is an annual convention we can actually also create a UK Pathfinder community that is active throughout the year. (I guess that would be part of my pitch for the regional coordinator role!)

There's going to be accounts out there, purely for the purposes of registering a PC, but never get used further.

Just like there's accounts set up purely for mail order, but their owners never utter so much as a peep on the forums.

Hard to understand, but there you go...

Actually, if he doesn't formally announce it this weekend, regardless of your wanting it, there may be rioting....

How come posts with comments about arse songs, anti-diarrhoea tablets and IBS are replied to almost immediately, yet actual convention related questions are not!? :-)

Does a death in the Hollow adventure not matter to the Living Golarion campaign, and do you get double xp for a double slot adventure?

I thought these might have been answered elsewhere, so I've done a search, but I couldn't find anything...

I also thought these answers might be obvious, but I'm not so sure now...

Sorry, I thought I had replied. I have said that Hollow isn't a Pathfinder Society scenario so you don't gain or lose anything if you play a copy of your character in that scenario.

The two scenarios on the Sunday are separate scenarios which happen to be linked. So you get XP, a chronicle sheet etc at the end of each slot. The second scenario follows on from the first and assumes the events of that one have happened. So as far as possible we will keep the same groups and same GMs for both Sunday slots. (Currently the only double slot adventure is the first part of the level 12 scenarios.)

No need to apologise! I could easily have asked these questions on the day, and my 'outrage' was all tongue in cheek - I actually prefer responses about my more... idiosyncratic posts anyway :-)

That makes a lot of sense. I would've assumed this, but my assumptions tend to be proved inaccurate most of the time ;-)

Hello folks,

My compatriot and I are going to be staying at the Premier Inn Central East and we're wondering if anyone else is, should they want to meet up prior to the curry on the Friday night. We'll be in Birmingham ~6pm and it's a 30 minutes walk from the station to the hotel, we'll drop off our belongings and then head back to the University to meet anyone already there.

If anyone is interested in divulging contact details prior to the meet, then drop me an email at stout.jonathon@gmail.com.

Thanks in advance.

Tied up with sorting out player groups for the slots and making the final preparations at the moment. But if anybody has any more questions then feel free to ask.

If you're good at navigation and have a detailed map of Birmingham, the canal round the back of that inn's a good way to get under Dartmouth Middleway on your way to the campus. After going under the Middleway you can continue up the canal to the top of Aston Locks and the junction, turn left, and head down the branch canal to the bridge where Love Lane crosses the canal to go up the stairs there onto Love Lane for access to the Aston University Campus. (If I recall correctly, Love Lane is a bridge with a metal spiral staircase around on the east side - sorry, I don't remember the bridge number.)

However if you don't have the time to explore/risk getting lost or your map is low on detail (many online maps don't even seem to show the branch canal), it's probably best to stick it out with following roads...

Are you pre-mustering Dave - will you say who is on which tables beforehand then and for which tier?

Yeah, just finished assigning players (and characters) to tables and GMs for each slot apart from the Saturday evening. I think I've managed to create workable parties based on the information on the booking forms. I realise some may have played their character since filling out the form so there may be a little sub-tier calculating happening at the start.

The list of who is on which table will be up on the room doors and GMs will have a copy too. So there should be minimal mustering time.

Thanks for the quick reply - good news - that'll save some time I hope.

Cheers and very much looking forward to it now.

A quick question. Will there be some spare copies of seekers of secrets floating around, in the same way that there were PHs last year?

If not, how much of a problem with a DM not having it cause? Since it's a core assumption?

I'll have my copy available plus a pdf. (I'll have pdfs of everything available on my laptop)

To be honest, I've only had a couple of people using anything from Seekers.

Erm, will I come a cropper if I don't have a copy of Taldor: Echoes of Glory and use a trait or something from there? I get all my crunch from online repositories like The Archives of Nethys or d20pfsrd.com

Officially if the GM at the table questions something from a book such as the Taldor one then you need to provide a hard copy or a printout from a marked pdf. That's the official line.

On an unrelated matter... I will have hard copies and pdfs of many of the pathfinder books such as Cheliax, Taldor, Adventurer's Armory, etc.

I can't recall if I've got the Taldor book; that might have been before I subscribed. I can put some of the other books on a memory stick, if you're taking your laptop. They'll have my watermark on, but there shouldn't be a problem.

Since several couples game together, the staff relaxed the requirement for individual copies. The official stance is 'one book per household', and it sometimes feels like we're married...

I can have a dig around for a figure tonight.
