James Purefoy - Mark Antony - is in a new network TV show which is already filming, so he's out for a role in Season 3. He might be able to squeeze in a small role (say for Oberyn Martell) for Season 4, or if the show is cancelled he can then come over to THRONES for a more substantial role (Euron Greyjoy?).

Awesome casting.
After Dominic West turned the role down there was some talk (well, internet buzz) of Robert Carlyle. Carlyle can play it badass just fine, but I'm not sure he's the kind of guy I'd take for a minstrel at first glance.
Hinds though...
Is Dominic West crazy? Perhaps he doesn't like Iceland.

I don't know why West turned the role down (see my various other rants, on other boards, under other names, about Jennifer Ehle as Catelyn), but West and Carlyle look a little to young. This is a dude who's been in the Night's Watch, decided to "F**k this!" and amassed his own army north of the Wall. Serena McKellen would have been awesome playing it older rather than younger, but I think Hinds is very age appropriate.
...Patrick Stewart? Hells no, I'm saving that dude for Ingold! :P

Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk should have a chat. I've had my copy for, like, years.
Maybe there's problems with the translation. ;)

In the UK it's hardwired into the industry that the paperback comes out a year after the hardcover, no matter what. It's actually unusual here for hardcovers and paperbacks to be kept on the shelf at the same time (as ADWD has at the moment) and only possible when a series becomes a mega-seller, as ASoIaF has become.
In the USA, on the other hand, the hardcover remains on sale for as long as the publisher can milk it and the paperback only comes out once the HC sales start dropping off. Both Books 3 and 4 in the series spent 18+ months before coming out in paperback as well.

For all you Game of thrones fans.
Wow, just Wow! That is some amazing talent. Anyone know what the dude is asking for a print?

So we are looking at around a March date for the season 2 dvds and a season 3 start around april, correct? Seems so far away....
HBO has said the season 3 premire will be Sunday, March 31, 2013 at 9 PM EST.
If they follow what they did with season 1 DVD, the season 2 DVD will be out on the first Tuesday in March in the USA.

A Lannister always spays his pets.
Isaac Hempstead-Wright (Bran) does pretty much the same thing in a commentary track on the DVDs. He's on with Maisie Whatshername and Sophie Turner(?) and gets them both doing it with him briefly.
I'm both impressed and slightly disappointed that the show had an episode that they could show all of to minors without getting in trouble. :)

I don't want to read the books until the TV series is over with - that way I don't become jaded. So how are season two and three going? I only have Season one on DVD. I heard Tryion Lanister proved himself exceptional in some siege of Red Keep.
They really need to bring out the series on DVD by Christmas 2012.

You realize the Earth wont make it to 2013...on account of the Mayan Calender falling to one side and causing the earth to crash into the Sun. They really need to get this series out on DVD soon as season 3 ends with the Red Wedding.

It just makes me sad. Why must Sean die in everything? Why?
Still, the next season should be incredible. Game of Thrones is one of the few tv series we really enjoy. We record it so we can fast forward through the gratuitous boobage.
Ahem ... you mean "record it so we can rewind and re-watch the gratuitous boobage." :)

Proof as good as any that Sharpe II and When Sunday Comes are in the works... =)
There are sixteen SHARPE movies and Sean Bean survives them all :-)
It also sounds like you haven't watched them. Remedy this immediately. Boromir Stark single-handedly defeats the entire French army multiple times during the Napoleonic Wars. Excellent stuff.
