As you step into the room, you see three large stone tables that stand in the middle of this room, while the long benches that once stood next to them have been knocked askew and overturned. What draws your attention, however, is the fact that six kobolds armed with spears along with one who appears to be their leader wielding a strange weapon: a chain with almost what appears to be a three-pronged claw-shaped hook at the end. They have nearly cornered a halfling along with a little girl who appears braver than she seems.

Omen's eyes immediately begin to cloud over, as tiny arcs of electricity dance between the fingertips of his right hand. White Ear's ears fall flat and his fur bristles as a menacing growl escapes him. His lips curl back, fangs bared for all to see, as he lowers himself, ready to spring.

If Noctum runs in to engage the kobolds (as a partial charge), Omen will take a 5ft step into his square (I9) and lightning arc kobold1 if Rogan doesn't kill it with an arrow.

If Noctum does not move, Omen will lightning arc kobold5. If kobold5 is already dead he will direct his attack to kobold3.

Yeah so I forgot Rogan's character sheet again but I can roll with it. I updated him in DMGenie so his stats should be accurate save for his skills which I will fudge to be better than they might be, however I do not have access to the Battlemat and also forgot to pop that on my jump drive. Do you want to wait until tonight to finish this battle, or would you rather we continue in old fashioned mode?

Waiting is fine. I've got a committee meeting from 8 until ?? tonight, so if you guys jump into it while I'm there, please rock the casbah (at will) with ol' Omen.

Rogan's arrow hits the kobold in the back, running straight into his weak leather armor just as Noctem lunges to attack. The creature cries out in pain and nearly drops his spear as he arcs his back in agony and then tumbles to the ground; the spear falling and bouncing on the hard floor.

Kobold 5 is dead.

Noctem charges and lunges at the nearest kobold who, after watching the other one drop to an arrow, turns and dodges the snapping wolf.

Actually, Rogan targeted kobold 5. Noctem went after kobold 3. As much as I would like to redo Noctem's attack, he whiffed.

My bad, man, I've been staring at a computer monitor for over 10 hours to come home and do it some more. =P

As Rogan's arrow fells it's target, a blast of lightning shatters through the hall into the room and strikes another unsuspecting kobold who stands with his spear pointed at the halfling near the corner.

The creature yelps suddenly and loudly until it's futile cries are silenced and it's violently shaking body falls to the ground. It continues to twitch for several moments until it stops.

With a howl, White Ear leaps into the chamber straight behind one of the kobolds, his fur bristling and his fangs bared ready to attack.

No worries, Bro. 10 hours of comp screen would make me a little muddled as well.

It does not diminish your awesomeness in any way.

Two kobolds (1 and 2) rush in towards the halfling and thrust their spears at him, hissing and growling. "Die pink skin!"

Damage Roll: 1d6-1:[2,-1] = (1)

The halfing ducks one of the jabs at him but fails at another as a spear pierces his left shoulder.

The two halflings (4 and 6) in front of White Ear turn around at the snarling white wolf who seems intent on doing them harm and attack before he can do so.

Attack Roll: 1d20+1;[7,1] = (8); 1d20+1;[6,1] = (7)

In their apparent fear, they thrust too early and the wolf ducks down to avoid their weak attacks.

The kobold leader moves into the north hall and whips his talon-looking chain at the halfling but misses his mark as it ricochets off the corner wall.

Attack Roll: 1d20+4:[4,4] = (8)

Next to Noctem, the kobold attempts to fend off the dangerous wolf with a spear attack,

Attack roll:1d20+1:[10,1] = (11)

however the quick-reacting wolf dodges his head to the side and growls menacingly at him.

Rogan and Noctem are up.
Sorry, I left out kobold 3 when I posted earlier so I deleted it which wiped out the previous links.

I need to hit the sack gents, go ahead and take your turns... this is what will happen after Rogan and Noctem go, barring any deaths or other circumstances:

As the kobolds rush in to attack him, the halfling notices the intruders who seem to share his hatred for the scaly kobolds and senses that help has arrived. He smirks as he pulls out a feather and two small objects.

"May you laugh your last, kobold!"

As he shouts this, he waves the feather and tosses the two objects at the feet of the leader.

Kobold leader save:1d20+0:[7,0] = (7)

At this, the leader bursts out into laughter and collapses to the ground in utter hysterics while his underlings look on with absolute befuddlement.

The girl smiles and then her laughter turns to anger as she turns her attention toward the kobold directly in front of her, steps towards him and swings a club at him.

Girl attack roll:1d20+1:[1,1] = (2)

"Curses!" She yells. In her zeal, she miscalculated her steps and banged into the corner of the table nearby. The kobold turns and looks at her and then returns his focus on the white wolf.

Rogan quickly takes stock of the situation, then quickly shouts to Noctem, "Protect the Small One and the girl, ignore that skale skin for now."

Handle Animal: 1d20+9=20 (Free Action)

Rogan takes a quick 5 foot step to H8 (free action), and sends two arrows streaking from his bow, the first headed at kobold 1, the next headed at kobold 2.

Attack Roll 2 (Kobold 2): 1d20+7=22

Noctem obediently charges to the heat of the battle to defend the halfling and the girl. He proceeds left one square to H6, then up to H2, and occupies the square no longer occupied by kobold 2 (if kobold 2 is dead).

This provokes AoO from kobold 1, 3, and Alpha if they have readied melee weapons.

Noctem accepts them without so much as an acknowledging snarl.

Once he has settled in I2, he snarls at the kobold with the hooked whip and attacks him.

Spoiler:
Alright, this is my fourth time trying this. I keep hitting the back button on the internet window, closing out of the window, or clicking on a website link which basically wipes out everything I typed. I have learned to update this in Word and copy it over. Sheesh.

During the surprise round, Rogan directs Noctem to attack Kobold 3 and then fires an arrow at Kobold 5 dropping the fool. Noctem misses his target. Omen then fries Kobold 1 and White Ear heads adjacent to Kobold 6. Note: Kobold 1 on the map currently is actually Kobold 2 but I can’t edit it at the moment. Kobold 2 attacks the halfling and pokes him in the shoulder. Rogan attacks Kobold 1 just as Omen’s lightning blasts him, so the arrow goes down the hall (He would have missed anyway). Rogan then attacks Kobold 2 and kills him. Noctem moves after the leader following Rogan’s prompting but provoking from the leader and Kobold 3 (they both miss), bites him, but does not seem to pierce his studded armor. Omen blasts Kobold 3 to smithereens as White Ear drops Kobold 6.

To recap in narrative fashion:

You move down the hallway towards the sounds of yipping and yelling to the next room. As you step into the room, you see three large stone tables that stand in the middle, while the long benches that once stood next to them have been knocked askew and overturned. What draws your attention, however, are the six kobolds armed with spears along with one who appears to be their leader wielding a strange weapon: a chain with almost what appears to be a three-pronged claw-shaped hook at the end. They have nearly cornered a halfling along with a little girl who appears braver than she seems.

Without hesitation, Rogan fires an arrow and hits a kobold in the back, running straight into his weak leather armor just as Noctem lunges to attack the nearest spear-wielder. Unfortunately the kobold sees the wolf coming and dodges as he lunges for his neck.

Omen’s hand crackles with electrical energy as it arcs out towards another kobold and drops him to the floor yipping in agony until he expires as White Ear moves in to attack.

One of the kobolds thrusts his spear at the halfling and stabs him in the shoulder as one of Rogan’s arrows flies over an electrified kobold body. Seeing the kobold jab the halfling, Rogan nocks another arrow and sends it after him and it stings the kobold in the neck. He falls to the ground grasping at the arrow and no sound leaves his reptilian mouth as he stops moving.

Noctem navigates through the bodies and attacks the kobold leader who attempted to strike the halfling with his talon chain-whip. The wolf bites into the leader’s studded armor but the leader looks down at him unaffected.

The halfling notices the intruders who seem to share his hatred for the scaly kobolds and senses that help has arrived. He smirks as he pulls out a feather and two small objects.

"May you laugh your last, kobold!"

As he shouts this, he waves the feather and tosses the two objects at the feet of the leader.

Omen fires another arc of lightning at the nearest kobold and strikes him dead center in his chest. The kobold screams in agony as a wave of electrical energy engulfs him, leaving him but a blackened husk of his former self.

White Ear follows suit and grabs hold of the kobold in front of him by the neck and tosses him to the ground like a rag doll.

Attack Roll: 1d20+1 (19+1)= (20)

He hits him just under his neck. Damage Roll: 1d6-1 = (5-1)= (4)

The leader continues to bust out laughing all the while doing his best to stay away from the menacing wolf towering over his prone body.

Rogan and Noctem

Rogan nocks another arrow and looses it straight towards the kobold engaging White Ear:
Attack Roll: 1d20+6 (2+6)= (8) The arrow zips past and ricochets off the far wall and then just as quickly, he looses another: Attack Roll: 1d20+1 (6+6)= (12) and the arrow follows suit and bounces off the wall before hitting the ground.

Noctem lunges at his prone target and attacks with open jaws:
Attack Roll: 1d20+10 (15+14)=(29) Damage Roll: 1d6+6=(8)
He bites down on the kobolds thigh and tears his flesh, pulling him slightly across the floor before letting go. The kobold, still laughing, cries in pain amidst the chuckling.

Halfing/Girl’s Turn

The halfling turns to the leader after watching the other kobolds drop like flies. He attempts to stab him with a dagger, Attack Roll: 1d20+1 (1+1)=(Miss) however the kobold easily rolls out of the way.

The girl swings her club at the remaining kobold minion Attack Roll: 1d20+1=(16+1)=(17) and clubs him upside his head. Damage Roll: 1d6=3 The kobold appears stunned from the blow and with his right hand begins rubbing the back of his head.

White Ear snaps at the kobold in front of him and sinks his teeth into his side drawing blood. The kobold cries out and falls to the ground.

The kobold leader continues to laugh hysterically in the midst of his predicament.

The kobold leader's laughter is silenced by the arrow which lands straight in between his eyes. He drops his weapon and slumps over.

450 xp. Well done.

As the leader is dispatched, the halfling slumps down with his back against the wall. "Bloody mess! Thanks, lads for coming to our aid. I am guessing you have come for the children?"

The girl turns and walks over behind the halfling and leans up against the wall. She continues to grasp the crude-looking club appearing to be wary of the new visitors, despite their great assistance.

"It's okay, lass. These two seem to be on our side. They sought to protect us first and foremost." The halfing places his right hand on his left shoulder and speaks a word of magic.

Spellcraft DC 16 to identify spell being cast

You watch the wound as it closes after he removes his hand and a translucent blue glow remains a few seconds afterward. You also see another wound in his right side which also closes up within his tattered vest.

"So, whats your story?" The halfling smiles and looks to both Omen and then Rogan.

You identify the spell cast as Cure Light Wounds.

The girl turns her head away when you speak to her and then looks back to watch you bend down to search the body.

You find 4 viles of what you presume to be some kind of poison Knowledge (Nature)Other Gear: short spear, small studded leather, talon chain-whip, 2 javelins. On the kobolds are spears and small leather armor.

The halfling stands up. "Mikra. Come out boy, you're safe now." Suddenly a young boy crawls out from under one of the tables and stands up eying you both. He walks over and stands by the girl.

"Well, if introductions are in order, my name is Edgrin Galesong; bard extraordinaire. This here is Kimi Eavewalker, Make a Knowledge (Local) or Knowledge (History) check a young girl trapped in this vile place as I was. I am... er, was, part of the Gray Eagles, an adventuring party based in Falcon's Hollow. My group was ambushed and attacked by a large pack of kobolds. Most of my compatriots were killed, while the rest of us... and by the rest of us, I mean me and Tyran, were captured and taken here. These kobolds seem to be devoted to some occult practice. What it is, I do not know, but their king, one Merlokrep, seems to be looking for sacrifices."

The girl, Kimi begins stepping forward next to the halfling and crosses her arms in an attempt to look tough.

"We escaped our holding pen down on the floor below and made it here..." He pauses. "Poor Jurin got trapped by some horrible chain demon when we took a wrong turn. He may be dead now." A look of sorrow fills his face. "The other one, Savram, fled down the north passage while Kimi and I tried to buy him and Mikram some time to flee. Mikram instead dove under that table."

"I don't know what happened with Tyran the wizard. He has probably been sacrificed along with the boy Hollin down below, but they may still be down there. If you would help me, I would like to do what I can to help you rescue them."

Kimi interrupts, "Well, are we going to mope in here discussing our plans, or are we going to save them?!"

Edgrin smiles. "You got a spunk in you, girl, I like that, but this place is dangerous."

Rogan checks his bowstring and a few arrows. He pushes two of the arrows that hit home in the kobolds through their bodies, eyes the arrowheads for a brief moment, and then drops the bodies back to the ground as he finds the arrows to be useless.

The girl Kimi raises one of her eyebrows. "Mikra can't even defend himself let alone fight. I will protect him."

She walks over and begins attempting to pull a leather suit of armor off one of the dead kobolds and then tosses it at the boy, Mikra, who gives a confused look and then picks it up and attempts to put it on as he watches the girl pull the armor off another dead kobold.

Edgrin steps forward. "Kimi is a strong one and would be helpful, but I still have reservations with bringing them along. I think perhaps it might be best to take them up to the surface and have them hide som..."

"NO! I am not leaving without my friends." Kimi interjects.

"Very well. If it is fine by our rescuers, then you may come. I can lead the way to the floor below. Supreme caution is needed."
