Oh, and I'd have to say TV Buffy is better.
What do I remember about the movie? Pee Wee Herman and Rutger Hauer.
What do I remember about the series? Lots of things, but Buffy is in there.
What do I remember the most about the series? The Buffy/Giles/Xander/Willow Gestalt vs. Adam.
Ah yes, that was awesome. The episode after that was great, too.
I loved Season 2, because I loved the voice-overs.Season 3, because of the Mayor and Mr. Trick. They were awesome.
Season 4, because of the reasons underlined above. Also, because of the sad subplot with Oz.
Season 5, because of all the cool hobbits with leprosy and the return of Harmony.
Season 6, because I think that they did it really well. I loved the return of Giles, and also of course the final scene. Also, of course, the musical.
Season 7, because of teh sheer epicness.

Is this even a question?
The movie was puerile rubbish with very little to say about anything, and utterly died on it's feet as any sort of dramatic piece once Donald Sutherland died.
The TV show was a moving drama with allegories everywhere, which dealt which issues in a sensitive and considerate way, had great acting, a great cast and some amazing action scenes.
The movie was sub-subpar Hollywood rubbish, while the TV show was one of the finest shows of this generation.
Finally, TV Buffy annihilates the Movie Buffy so hard it's not even funny. It's like comparing Shakespeare done by Ian McKellen to the acting in Family Guy.

Umm...Joss Whedon wrote both the movie and the series.
I'll go with TV Buffy because of Slayerettes.
::checks::
Whoops. Haterade on MY face, huh?
::tosses Buffy movie DVD in the microwave and watches the pretty colors::
Just beautiful. Also, one of my good friends is one of the original Slayerettes..but I haven't seen her in some time. I'll ask her about it one of these days.

Yeah, but I like that about the movie. Its light, its campy, its fun, it doesn't take itself seriously, it takes an enjoyable concept and runs with it. I didn't watch the movie looking for a 'dramatic piece', I watched it looking for Valley Girl vs. Dracula, and it delivered in an entertaining way.
BTW, I also enjoyed the show. :D

Oh yes, the last episode of season four is my favourite. Generally I didn't care much for season four big plot (Adam/Initiative) but that season had plenty of great single episodes.
And I admit that I thought season seven rather dull. There were moments but compared to what the show had been before, it was a letdown.
The movie, if it is not compared to the series, is pretty entertaining fare in itself, though I too admit I was somewhat suspicious when I heard they were making a series out of that...

I'd have to go with movie Buffy, because it had nothing to do with Joss Whedon. I still hate Joss with a burning passion that will never die. ::sips haterade:: Ah, refreshing. AND long lasting!
Joss Whedon IS god. Period.
TV Buffy ftw. Don't get me wrong, Swanson is hot (and I have the Playboy to prove it).
But Gellar is in a league above her. Plus Allyson Hannigan, Nick Brendon, Tony Head, James Marsters....great ensemble cast.
That show is my fave of all time.
Best season for me was probably 3. But I love 2, 5 and 7 as well. And at the end of Season 6, Xander finally saved the world, which is priceless!

What then?
To each their own, I suppose. Every time I tried to watch it, it just reminded me of "90210" with vampires...

From what I've seen, especially the first 3 seasons, that was the point. Jane Epston (sp?)had said they'd take a lot of teen issues and relate them through monsters/demons etc.

That might be why I couldn't get into it. By the time the show came out, all of my teen angst issues were nearly a decade behind me.
