DarkWhite,

I have a fumble and critical deck (OGL) and I am not sure if they can be used in Pathfinder society. If they can I will bring them down so the table can use them.

I got some spell templates too that can fit into my kit. Though I am not DMing I am happy to help out.

He is still looking into things. I hope he can make the other sessions.

I'm sorry to hear that. It's never good when friends can't play in the same session. With another GM, we could offer a second table ... do we have any volunteers? Additional GMs can choose to run any scenario they like, preferrably an entry-level scenarios for new players, and one you've run before and are familiar with. Any additional sessions need to be submitted by 30th June, so any volunteers would need to get in touch with me a few days before then to ensure we don't miss out.

Just spoke with him on the phone...

He lost his job so he is not sure if he is going atm. He is keen but has decided to lay low on expenses.

Ouch! I'm sorry to hear that :-(

Critical hit decks aren't legal for Pathfinder Society play.

DAmn about the critical decks... you never know... they may become legal in the next rules.

GenConOz 2009 - Pathfinder Society Update:

We're running 15 Pathfinder Society sessions at GenConOz, six players per table = 90 seats.

5 sessions are already booked out. Overall, Pathfinder seats are more than two-thirds booked out, only 27 seats remain three months out from GenConOz. This is a great turn-out!

If you were considering attending GenConOz for Pathfinder Society, don't leave it to the last minute, register your sessions now, or regrettably you'll miss out.

Anyone available to GM additional sessions, now would be the time to make yourself known!

Cheers :-)

I just got my phone line back.. and incident with a bobcat and concrete path...

anyways... I am playing playing playing this year.

I have seen that they positions have gone like hotcakes.

Good news is that my timetable for work is excellent and that I get an early march home Thursdays so I can catch a flight down and be there for the first gaming session!

It sounds like I'm going to miss out on sessions I am wanting to play in so I may as well throw my hat in for running some sessions, if you are still looking for help.

Let me know what you need in this way by dropping me a line at theoriginalgitch@yahoo.com

Yeah!!!

Another cool GM person!

Yay Gitch!

You're going to GenConOz? Why are you going to miss out on sessions you want to play? Not everything is booked out yet. But I know you've played a lot of scenarios already.

GenConOz organisers claim that submissions absolutely, definitely, last call close tomorrow 30th June. So if you're available to GM, which scenarios would you like to run? It's better to go with something you've played and run before, so you're comfortable and familiar with it.

Deluge and I haven't split the sessions between us yet, other than I'm running three sessions per day, and he's running two. I'm happy to run any of the scenarios listed, I have one or two favourites, but I'm happy to let Deluge, yourself or anyone else offering to GM their choice of scenarios to run.

I'm actually a little disappointed not to be running Silent Tide at GenConOz, it's a great Intro mod, but I thought I'd try run the more recent scenarios first, and keep Silent Tide up my sleeve as a spare in case there was some other opportunity to run it.

At this stage, I feel pretty confident that Pathfinder Society at GenConOz will be a sell-out, so any additional tables you or anyone else are able to run will give more people an opportunity to play.

I'll shoot you an email shortly.

Cheers :-)

Hey Darkwhite I have played in scenarios 1-12 & 15, I have DMed 2, 8-11.
Although I might be running stuff before GenConOz from what I have previously been in.

I have non Pathfinder activities planned at this point for Sat 11am and 7pm, otherwise I have an open schedule, has the 2 parter on the Sunday booked out yet?

Nope.. there are currently 2 spots left in each session.

Masika is correct, there are still two spots available for The Devil We Know double. Actually, I'm surprised these weren't the first to book out, as I've always enjoyed sequel adventures. I left the The Devil We Know for Sunday, as I thought a double would be a great way to wrap up four days of exhaustive gaming.

If there is any game already booked in the schedule that you would like to run, let me know - you can run that scenario, and I'll run Dralkard Manor at an adjacent table. I didn't realise that the venue closes early on Sunday, so the final session, Dralkard Manor, got cut from the schedule. It has been quite a challenging adventure, but both times I've run it, the players have made it an extremely memorable session. It would be nice to see it returned to the play list.

Cheers :-)

Scarab Sages 1/5

Would be good to run a session Sunday night. :)

Lantern Lodge 4/5

Another point to consider ...

I've suspected people might be slow to register for the Conversion session for a couple of reasons: 1) it's booked on Thursday which is a work-day for most people; and 2) I'm sure a lot of people would like to follow the Conversion session with an actual game to test-run their new character, but there's only one scenario (6 players) scheduled Thursday following the Conversion session, and it's already full.

If you were available 7pm-11pm Thursday after the Conversion session, we could offer another 6 players an opportunity to run their new characters, which might help give the Conversion session a little more momentum.

Incidentally, the Conversion session 4pm-8pm and the following session 7pm-11pm overlap by an hour. This is because the Conversion session was bumped from the 2pm time-slot I had originally scheduled it for, probably due to room availability. But that's okay, Deluge can carry the session through the last hour while those booked to play the first game session can do so.

Unfortunately, the GenConOz venue closes 5pm on Sunday. I think I'll be looking forward to enjoying a well-earned after-con dinner on Sunday night. Though it wouldn't surprise me if some die-hards organised some after-con gaming between themselves.

Scarab Sages 1/5

Just my wishful thinking... I have have been let out of my cage and I am planning on making the most of it. :)

Scarab Sages 1/5

Keep us posted about the new tables going up.

Lantern Lodge 4/5

Masika wrote:

I'm considering them now ... but I've limited time in my lunch-break, they might not get submitted until tonight. In any case, it also takes the con organisers time to review and approve submissions before they appear on the GenConOz website for player registrations.

I'm trying to slot in the following scenarios first, as they're ones that aren't currently listed for GenConOz - does anyone have any preferences for which scenarios to run in which slots? You'll need to state your preferences pretty quickly though.

01 Silent Tide
02 Hydra's Fang Incident
10 Blood at Dralkard Manor
12 Stay of Execution
13 Prince of Augustana
14 Many Fortunes of Grandmaster Torch

Are there any "sold out" sessions that you would like to be re-listed?

Not really but I was not that keen for perils of the priate on Saturday night... as well as a few other maybes.

I like starting at the start.. and I would be keen for scenarioes 1-10 to run.

Have you aleady booked Perils of the Pirate Pact? I really enjoyed that adventure.

Have you already booked Thursday evening or Friday Morning sessions? Because that was when I was thinking of running 01 Silent Tide, because it makes for a great introduction to the style of Pathfinder Society for anyone who's new to the game.

Hi DarkWhite just trying to book now and trying to work out if running a session counts as volunteering?

Look back on page one DW :)

I am booked in all sessions. :)

Lantern Lodge 4/5

Masika wrote:

Then you're kind of stuck, aren't you? Though having all sessions booked out is in no way a bad thing.

The scenarios can be played in any order. 01 Silent Tide is a pretty easy scenario to run after the Con with your group back home, if you don't get a chance to play it at the Con.

Is it possible to reschedule sessions you've registered for? I don't know, because I haven't registered as a player, so I don't know what control you have over your registered sessions - but I know someone else has asked this question in the 3.5 forum at GenConOz - if you know the answer, maybe you can head over there and post a response?

Anyway, I have two additional GMs now, so I'll be submitting those sessions online as soon as I get home after dinner.

Thursday and Friday will have two additional scenarios per session.

Saturday and Sunday will have one additional scenario per session.

GenConOz is gonna be Pathfinder awesome!

Scarab Sages 1/5

Sweet DM.

I have posed the question at the GenconOZ forum and expect an answer soon.

I DM up here because no one else will!

I was keen to play... hence my session booking overload.

I will see how things go.. I hope to make some contacts and then next year I will run some events.

Scarab Sages 1/5

Just noticed that Sunday has only one position left. Good thing that you are adding new tables.

A total of 18 spots left at this moment in time.

Masika wrote:

Indeed!

I have just submit a further 13 scenarios for consideration.
Two additional scenarios per Thursday/Friday session.
One additional scenario per Saturday/Sunday session.

Note that these still need to go through GenCon's review and approval process, subject to table space etc. I'm hopeful all will be approved, but no guarantee.

Scarab Sages 1/5

NICE!

You think I could split myself and play simultaneously?

Session booking overload is good for the soul!

That's the way these things work. Many players have enjoyed Pathfinder scenarios at a convention, and then run these same scenarios for their home group after the con, thus sharing the love!

I fully hope that players at GenConOz this year will share their experience with their friends, run Pathfinder at local game-days and conventions in their hometowns, and return to GenConOz next year volunteering to GM tables themselves.

With three or four tables per session (more if there's room for late tables), GenConOz will be the largest gathering of Pathfinder yet seen in Australia. I'm really excited for the future of the campaign!

Lantern Lodge 4/5

Masika wrote:

I don't know ... but we do know that Paizo have made changes to Mirror Image ... we just have to wait to see what changes they've made to Clone.

But you can only fit so many games into a four day weekend. I'm confident that after your GenConOz experience, you'll return home all buzzed and wanting to play more! Paizo have made it all too easy to download scenarios and play them with your home group.

Running an occasional game-day at your local store, school, library, wherever is just a small step further ... and if there's a game convention anywhere near you, well, you know what to do!

All I'm saying is don't regret the scenarios that elude you at GenConOz ... hunt them down and play them after-con!

Lantern Lodge 4/5

If you start with a first level character, and have booked to play every session, you'll level up to 2nd by dinner-time Friday, 3rd by dinner time Saturday, and walk away from GenConOz with a 4th level character.

Not bad for a weekend of gaming!

Scarab Sages 1/5

Yeap.

I am hoping I will get a nice DM and won't die. :)

I am going to make up a season 1 ranger me thinks. I dont think it is worth generating a character now as I wont get to play before GENCON.

Umm ... let's see ... 27 sessions run so far, 2 character deaths, countless near-misses. Is that a good track record? I'll let you be the judge.

Scarab Sages 1/5

Excellent.

I have a fighting chance!

Scarab Sages 1/5

I have been following other threads so even though I will be playing all sessions at the event, I might be able to help DMs.

I am happy to process event forms, if that is possible to make sure they are sent into Joshua. I could collect and send.

Joshua, is this possible?

Also, are we able to get some advertising from Paizo to put up at Gencon? I would be happy to coordinate that if it possible.

I'll probably be carrying my Netbook and mobile phone with me, so should have mobile/wireless internet access. Therefore, I'm likely to be able to sign up new players to the Society as they arrive (if they haven't aleady done so), and report sessions online as they're played. At least this how I've managed previous cons, though there'll be a lot more players running through each session at GenConOz, so it might be more efficient to do this after-con. Though I've purposely scheduled an hour between most sessions, which should ease the administrative pain.

None-the-less, there'll be at least four GMs running tables through some sessions, that's 24 players, so I'm sure a helper or two who aren't GMs to help out will be very much appreciated. I'm expecting a few familiar faces from Melbourne to be attending who may help out, though many of them have already played the scenarios at previous cons, or may be playtesting the new scenarios prior to GenConOz, so they might be signed up with non-Pathfinder events.

In any case, thanks for the offer. I'm sure there'll be things you can do to help :-)

Scarab Sages 1/5

Good call DW.

Sorry if I jumped the gun... I am just keen. :)

Anyways, I will sit back and relax.. and enjoy.

No gun jumping, it's all good, I'm just not sure what help I'll need until it happens, I guess.

With reporting of sessions, I've found if I do it online immediately after each session, I don't end up with a confused jumble of paperwork at the bottom of my bag, and end up on the "why haven't you reported your sessions" thread ;-)

As it turns out, I just remembered the unexpected mobile internet bill I got last Christmas when I visited my family in Adelaide due to "Roaming" - so unless GenConOz has wireless internet, I might not go down that route, and should probably print out a batch of Society membership numbers beforehand.

In any case, I'm not turning away offers of assistance, this being my first GenCon I'm not sure what to expect, but I'm sure it will be busy and hectic, and the other GMs may appreciate the help too.

Scarab Sages 1/5

I will investigate DW and get back to you about that. I am fairly sure I will have internet access back in my room at the worst.

I hope Joshua gets back about advertising. I would love to get some Paizo advertising and put up around the tables and some flyers/catalogues or the like.

I'm very envious of those large banners Paizo display at their conventions. The best I could organise was ordering one of their 3.5 Thrives posters which I hope to laminate and blu-tac somewhere appropriate at GenConOz. I probably should have ordered more. Of course, I'll be wearing a random faction t-shirt each day of the con, as has become my con tradition!

I may have a solution for getting you some catalogs and the like. I can't give the specifics just yet.

Scarab Sages 1/5

No problem Joshua.

Just be aware that there are some fantastic DMs over here in Australia who are running a few tables. A display to advertise Pathfinder will be awesome. We have time as the event does not start until the 17th of Sept.

Scarab Sages 1/5

Well I am going to enquire about setting up a Pathfinder Registration Desk to assist DM, Players and advertising.

I am AFK for a days as I travel for work and hope to report back positively shortly.

Sovereign Court

I have registered all my Gencon events. I am locked into a Pathfinder frenzy for the most part of Gencon Oz.

DarkWhite as I am local, if you require any printing for the sessions, such as character sheets, Pathfinder organised play documentation ect, I should be able to organise the printing and deliver on the Thursday.

Cheers

DDM

Scarab Sages 1/5

Awesome! I think folks will appreciate your help DDM.

I have internet access in my hotel room.

Hopefully this query doesn't derail the thread too much...

Approximately how many Taldor faction members do we currently have in Australia?
How many of these will be attending Gen Con Oz?
Of those that aren't how many will be sending a representative from their local playgroups in their stead?

Xeno

(Nothing to be suspicious of members of other factions. I'm sure the Taldor players aren't up to anything... much)
