A seemingly important wizard makes his way through the thick crowds in the Bazaar. Oblivious to Devlyn's observations, he passes within 40 to 50 feet of the Warehouse. He gives it the once-over then proceed into the sea of humanity that occupies the merchantile district today.

Maybe he will find something or that special someone he so urgently seeks.

Devlyn notes the wizard's passing, committing appearance and affectations to memory. He then heads out into the greater Bazaar area to gather information (though not through direct questioning) about the Sprit of Vengeance's more recent business ventures, and any noteworthy changes in his business patterns.

With current events being so touchy, Devlyn will keep out of the way of the halfling Corona. He still has no appreciable knowledge about Rowan to go on, though, so he wouldn't know any better about her.

If Spirit of Vengeance is brought up in front of her, Rowan will shiver uncomfortably.

"He has quality goods, I'll grant you. I bought this sword from him a couple weeks ago. But talk about creepy. It's not everyday you find a flaming skeleton as a shopkeeper."

She'll keep up her act as an honest adventurer as long as she can...which with her levels of magics is a long, long time. Not even true seeing will unmask her thanks to a little trinket she hung on to from her days of serving GDK.

"Well, the Bazaar does have a penchant for...colorful inhabitants, that's for sure. As you've got the look of a bodyguard and might know of this - has he been doing anything like hiring mercenaries, or any business outside his normal selling that you or your contemporaries might have noticed?"

Yeppers. And with her 'rebirth' at the hands of the Daughters, I've made the assumption that even her scent has changed, so Devlyn won't have a chance of recognizing her without prolonged contact to observe her mannerisms.

"No, he hasn't been hiring that I'm aware of. And I've been looking for work, so I would have noticed. I'll keep an eye out though. And if you happen to know of anyone looking to hire a mercenary, let me know, okay?"

Don't forget Shadow Pelt. I had you and Allura hear rumors about a great black cat in the Bazaar when you started living there.

"I appreciate that, though it wouldn't be proper of me to have you gather information for me for nothing. So I guess I should hire you on a flexible retainer. Here - will this will cover your expenses for a few days worth of work?" as he hands her a largish belt pouch for her to examine.

Rowan's eyes only, if you please :)

Spoiler:
1,000gp in gems, in varying denominations for ease of use

I know, but I somehow doubt I'll have the luxury of choice when it comes to him. The situation with Tristan does take priority for Devlyn, though, so he'll do what he can to forestall the inevitable confrontation :)

She grinned. "That looks more than adequate. And a pleasure doing business with you. Where should I go to report anything that I might find? Or is this one of those you'll find me kind of things?"

"You can leave word for me at the front desk of the Inn of the Golden Sands, under the name of Devlyn. But if I have any urgency in getting this information, it wouldn't hurt to know the most likely place to find you if I can't track you down myself..."

"I'm staying at the Blue Antelope," she said, pointing to a somewhat dilapidated building on the corner of this square. "And the name's Rowan. I can often be found at the tent of MacGurdun the Brewer too if it's urgent. It's a good place to go to listen and find out what's going on in the Bazaar."

"Pleasure to meet you, Rowan. The Blue Antelope, got it. And I'm familiar with MacGurdun's - he's good guy, and a fine brewer. I've had the pleasure of sampling his wares a few times. And the local dirt's not bad either, you're right," he says with a smile.

"Well, business calls, so I'll leave you to your work. I hope to hear news from you soon - good hunting."

He gets up and excuses himself, changing tactics and moving to a more clandestine bit of surveillance as he continues to pull together the pieces of the story unfolding at the Bazaar.

Dinner calls to me. Have a good night all! :)

Mornin' All :)

Morning. Just 3 more days! :D

[GLEE]Two days for me and mine actually. I was able to scrounge up just enough $$ to get us checked in on Thursday afternoon. That should make pre-Registration Thursday night a bit easier than last year.[/GLEE] :D

Ch'ack arrives at the bazaar and makes his way to the shop of the stonesmith.

"Yes, may I help you good sir?"

The gnome starts as he looks into familiar green eyes.

"Yes, Carl. I've changed a bit lately. If it's not too much a bother, I would like to use your workbench for a little bit."

Ch'ack Hammer wrote:

Carl reaches out his hand a bit, as if to touch Ch'ack's arm, but pulls back.

"Certainly, my lord. Anything I have is at your disposal. I am glad that you were able to do without the Stone Magic. It is a dangerous thing to tempt Fate twice."

"Thank you."

Ch'ack clears the area and begins working with the items he gathered from the Grove. At points of the process he sings songs long-forgotten. The 'project' glows in response.

During one of the rare breaks Ch'ack takes, Carl inquires, "Is that woad you are making? It is available at one of the shops in the bazaar."

"No. This is not your usual woad."

"That shouldn't surprise me. Few things are with you." he adds with a smile

Have a wild and fun trip! Dragons! Dragons! Dragons!

Finishing his project, Ch'ack takes a dab of the blue and white paste and traces and outline on his chest. His face calms.

"Well Carl, looks like I've remembered how to make this stuff. Thanks for the use of your workshop."

He gathers his gear and heads back to the Eyrie.

Finding a particular merchant dealing in magical statuary and sculptures, Solmyr purchases what appears to be a set of ebony goats and a white marble elephant. Tucking the goods under his thick cloak, he proceeds towards the warehouse Devlyn is monitoring.

And after a wondrous morning of power outages, crashed servers and missing data, I have returned. Happy Monday Everybody ;P

I guess it's just easier to say Devlyn's observing nearby. He's probably running quite the surveillance circuit today :)

Devlyn pulls up his Cowl and waits to see if the wizard does indeed enter the warehouse, and if he uses the same entrance as the group from the other night.

Power outage up here earlier today too. Still waiting for the AC to kick on. bleh.

We lost that too. It was nice and warm/humid here for a few hours.

And it's traffic time for me. G'night all :)

The wizard places the paired goat statuette on the ground and runs his middle finger down the goat's back and utters and incantation. Seconds later as he steps back, the paired goats transforms into a vestige of magical energies. Dark and smoky, they launch themselves with mystical fury, striking head on against the twin warehouse doors. The doors splinter under the on-slaught.

He yells. "I am Solmyr of the Azure Flame and I have come to retrieve my stolen property! Return my valuables if not, your lives are forfeit."

Morning All :)

Devlyn activates his crystal and sends a message to Allura.

"Allura - that wizard I saw checking out the warehouse the other day has come back, and he just threw down some figurines that got big and destroyed the main loading doors. He says he is 'Solmyr of the Azure Flame', and he wants his stolen property back. I'm not sure if this is legit or not yet, or how it will affect our own hit on this place. You'd better spread the word over there and see what we want to do, love. It could be a window of opportunity."

After Allura's warning of trouble brewing at the Eyrie, Devlyn quickly and quietly moves away from his position observing the warehouse. Once he has cleared a few blocks via rooftop, he ports himself back to the Oasis of Still Water.

The Dalesman wrote:

Placing the elephant statuette on the ground, he catches a glimpse of Devlyn as he rushes away form the scene. activating the statuette, it magically morphs into a bipedal engine of destruction, armored and armed to tackle whatever the inhabitants the warehouse decided to throw at it.

He utters a quick phrase at Devlyn before the Dalesman heads towards his next destination. "You'll be back."

Six demon-birds exit the warehouse and engage in martial combat with Solmyr's statuette. A seven bird-fiend, invisible, rushes towards Solmyr's flank with disastrous results. Solmyr points his finder at the Vrock and a single beam of energy strikes it dead on. The demon explodes in a hail of thunder, feathers, and gore.

"That'll be the day," he mumbles. The he presses his artifacts to the attack. "Petty demon summoned guards...."

The black goats reconstitute and press their attack on one Vrock.

Then three blazing skulls fly from the warehouse entrance screaming the incantations of the mad.

Solmyr clutches his ears.
