I think you're talking about this blog entry that joela linked to, but Green Ronin wasn't in that list. As far as I know, Green Ronin hasn't said anything either way (although I expect that for the most part, they'll pretty much keep doing what they've already been doing).
(And saying that "most" of the folks he talked to said they had no plans for Pathfinder is a bit misleading; of the five companies he reported on, Alderac and Paradigm could be characterized that way, but Goodman, Adamant, and The Le Games would be more accurately characterized as keeping their cards close to their vest for now.)

Oh! It'll have to involve AE, though. Maybe a supp involving AE characters in Golarion? Or the other way 'round?

Thanks for the clarification, Vic; that was indeed what I was (mis)remembering.

I'd be surprised if Goodman Games has anything to do with Pathfinder.

I'd be surprised if Goodman DOESN'T have anything to do with Pathfinder. They made adventures for OSRIC and C&C. I'd believe they'd go full steam ahead with PFRPG compatable adventures. But that's just a guess.

Am I ok if I take out an ad using the Pathfinder Compatible Logo in black and white? The print version of the fanzine only offers black and white ads.
I was concerned because of the clause
You may not alter the COLOR, typography, design, or proportions of the Compatibility Logo. You may not allow the Compatibility Logo to be obscured in any way.

Vic Wertz wrote:And in the near future, we'll explain how established publishers can get early access to the final rules. Are we any closer to finding out when this will happen, and exactly who will get the early access?
One (probably obvious) requirement is that you'll need to have already registered to use the Compatibility License. The other requirements will be announced shortly.
As for when it will happen, well, we're still working hard on the content; we'll only be sharing it after it's locked down.

Vic, I have one other question for you. Will the Pathfinder Compatibility logo be made available in different file formats (such as EPS or TIFF) and different sizes, and will there be a black & white version for interior page use?

Do you really need a different format? I'd think just about everybody who can use an EPS can probably use the existing .ai, and most people who can use a TIFF can use the existing .psd. (If I'm wrong about that, we could add a TIFF version to the package.)
As for different sizes, you're allowed to proportionally scale the existing files. (If you want to scale upwards, I'd suggest using the .ai if you can).
You may also feel free to convert the existing files into black-and-white if you need to. (In the near future, I'll be revising the license to specifically address that fact.)

I feel like an idiot for asking this, but where can I find the existing .ai or .psd versions of the compatibility logo? I've looked around and all I find is the .jpg located at the top of the Compatibility License page. I'm sure the person doing our cover layouts can use the .psd version, at least.

Thank you. Once I find the .psd and .ai versions, I'm sure our cover layout person will be able to scale them however we need them.
And I just wanted to make sure that converting to b&w for interior use was not a violation of the license. Thank you for your help.

Once you agree to the license, they become available on your My Downloads page.

Once you agree to the license, they become available on your My Downloads page.
Thanks, Vic. Shows you how often I visit my downloads page...
However, I just checked my downloads page (following the link you provided and logging in) and I'm not seeing the image files. I have agreed to the license, and I am listed in the license registry, at the very top in fact. I've sorted by name, sorted by date, and hidden the images, and I don't see the files. If they are there, my eyesight must be a lot worse than I thought. Are they included with something else, or are they bundled together, or available individually?

Hmm. Somehow you didn't get access to it. I've fixed that, so it's now in your downloads.
Sorry for the confusion!

Paizo is pleased to report that we're entering the home stretch on the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Core Rulebook! That also means that we're almost ready to provide early access to the finished rules for those of you who qualify.
In order to qualify for early access, you'll need to meet the following criteria:
1. You must agree to the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Compatibility License.
2. You must be an active publisher with print products currently available through Alliance Game Distributors and/or electronic products currently available through paizo.com.
3. You must agree to a Nondisclosure Agreement covering the Core Rulebook and the Bestiary.
(Paizo reserves the right to additionally qualify or disqualify parties at our discretion.)
The following companies have already been identified as meeting the first two criteria:
0one Games
DragonWing Games
Dreamscarred Press
Expeditious Retreat Press
Fat Dragon Games
Louis Porter Jr. Design
Necromancer Games
Open Design
Radiance House
Reality Deviant Publications
Rite Publishing
Sean K Reynolds Games
Tricky Owlbear Publishing
If your company is not on this list, and you think it should be, let us know.
As soon as we finalize the Core Rulebook, we'll be sending instructions to qualified companies with details on the Nondisclosure Agreement and how they can get their early-access edition.
Also, we have made a couple of minor changes to the Compatibility License Exhibits.
Exhibit A: Usage Requirements has been updated as follows:
Old: "You may not alter the color, typography, design, or proportions of the Compatibility Logo."
New: "You may not alter the color, typography, design, or proportions of the Compatibility Logo, although you may render it in black and white in situations where color is not available."
Exhibit B: List of Products which May Be Referenced has been updated as follows:
Old:
Pathfinder® Roleplaying Game (PZO1110)
Pathfinder® Roleplaying Game: The Pathfinder Bestiary™ (PZO1112)
Pathfinder® Roleplaying Game: The Bonus Bestiary™ (PZO9500-3)
New:
Pathfinder® Roleplaying Game Core Rulebook™ (PZO1110)
Pathfinder® Roleplaying Game Bestiary™ (PZO1112)
Pathfinder® Roleplaying Game: Bonus Bestiary™ (PZO9500-3)
Finally, it has come to our attention that some companies did not automatically gain access to the Compatibility Logo Package after agreeing to the license. We've fixed that; all licensees now have access to the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Compatibility Logo in .ai and .psd form; visit https://secure.paizo.com/paizo/account/assets to download the package.
As always, feel free to contact me if you have any questions!

Upon further investigation I've found a handful of people who don't have access to the logo but should. I've fixed it so it shouldn't happen again in the future, but it'll be a few more minutes before everyone who's missing the logo will have it.
I just want you to know that I appreciate all the hard work you've down Gary and Vic and everyone else at Paizo to make the license a reality.
On a side note Gary, I'm having trouble with the logo download. I personalized it and downloaded it and the zip file appears empty. I went into the properties and clicked Unblock and still empty. Tried unzipping it and it says its blocked. I repersonalized and redid all the steps above. I just tried it on a different machine and I got the same results. I'm running XP using IE 7 on both. Do I need to download firefox or crome to get it?

The default Windows unzipper sometimes tries very hard to "protect" you from some files by not unzipping them (and not even telling you they exist). If you don't see any files after unzipping, using a different unzipping utility will solve the problem.

Will Piazo be creating a Pathfinder Modern or Future OGL type game?
I am keen to switch to the Pathfinder system, but am more interested in Modern and Future.
Thanks,
Craig J. Brain
Nothing firm yet. You'll want to look in this thread, among others, to see what's being kicked around.

Two quick questions:
1) Is the intention to allow copying of statblock format or is that considered Paizo trade dress?
2) In light of section 4, paragraph 3, disallowing the use of the "Pathfinder" name in the title, would specifically saying "Pathfinder Edition" be a problem? Such as with Title X: Pathfinder Edition? If this is a problem, is there another suggested fair distinguisher rather than just the logo when multiple editions are intended?
Thanks!

Not only are you *welcome* to use the statblock format, consider yourself *encouraged* to use it. When we're talking about trade dress, we really mean "don't try to make your products look confusingly like ours."

Given your example, I'd say that your notification of edition isn't really so much part of the title, so it's ok. However, keep in mind that Exhibit A says "You may refer to our game using the phrase "The Pathfinder Roleplaying Game" (never just "Pathfinder" or "The Pathfinder RPG")," so you should go with "Title—The Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Edition."

Thanks for the clarification on both fronts, especially the statblock format. I prefer the Pathfinder statblock and I have spent a lot of time looking for suitable typefaces that are similar, yet different.

I started reading this thread last night and had to break off for sleep about halfway through. I came right back at it this morning to finish up. Vic, you've done an amazing job of being incredibly patient and helpful throughout the entire thread. As someone who has dreamed of having a product or three in circulation for 3.5, I just want to tell you how appreciated your attitude and approach is. The fact that Paizo is offering a compatibility license for Pathfinder is of great encouragement, now that we have 4ed. My dreams may yet come to fruition due in large part to Paizo's willingness to allow third-party products and to Vic's herculean efforts to present the license in terms as clear as humanly possible. Thank you, sir!
