So any ideas on getting copies to those of us not able to travel across the country to the convention?
I will see about getting a PDF copy downloadable from the Paizo store. Physical copies will be in short supply, but I'll try and figure out something for y'all.
Right now, I'm sitting at about 20 entries for the fanzine. A lot of fan fic. :D

I've got a crunchy article that I hope to have ready by 11PM (EDT). I hope that's not too late.

I had hoped to get this done, but I guess I moved much to slowly and let other things get in the way.
Part of me wants to try to finish what I have started, but another suggests that if I rush to complete it now, that it will be lacking in the end.
Either way, I'm sorry for not completing my submission sooner.

~flashes some green stuff at you~ Might this convince you to have a few extra copies printed up? ~wink, wink! Nudge, Nudge!~~~

It's curious, but I evidently wasn't paying attention closely enough to something earlier, and the moment I discovered submissions are in fact being 'edited', I went into a frenzy of panic, self-doubt, and mentally kicking myself for being so stupid as to go anywhere near this project, which is in fact 'so obviously only for professional and real writers only'.
It may be a deeply irrational reaction, but there you go...

Charles, anything worth working on and ushering into a PDF/print product should get an additional eye or two. No one is infallible when it comes to typos and some graceful editing assists in readability. This is a fun project for the wonderful folks on these boards to participate in, and I assure you, as one of the folks doing some of the editing, that I am not out to kill someone's voice, screw with their ideas or anything nefarious. We're just looking to provide a fine end result that the community will enjoy.

See, me, personally, I would rather have an editor (or two) look at anything I wrtie that might see daylight. Because I would rather have an editor ask about a really dumb spelling error than have a couple of thousand people look at it and say, "can you believe he mispelled 'intelligent'?"

It's highly irrational to think that I and others would spend the time and effort gathering submissions, getting them professionally laid out, write art orders, price quotes for printing and NOT at least look at them for proofreading.
Every writer needs an editor, from amateur to professional. In case you missed the title of the thread, it says "Fanzine," meaning anybody is eligible to submit something, whether they've been in the industry for thirty plus years or somebody who's inspired to scribe something about the world of Golarion. Where you got the impression that it was for pros only, I don't know. Just because it happens to be a fan project does NOT mean I am going to approach it any differently than I would any other professional endeavor.
As Daigle has pointed out, we're not out to quash anybody's ideas, change their submissions wholesale, etc. Making the text more readable while maintaining the author's voice is certainly my highest intention, and I have full confidence that the editors I have gathered are capable of doing just that.

I didn't have any idea what the Oerth Journal was like, not having googled it, and having done so I now feel even more insignificant and intimidated.
To use a metaphor, it's as if I thought I had volunteered for a fun amateur walking trip to the top of The Wrekin (a modest sized hill in Shropshire), and only just now discovered upon seeing an aeroplane instead of a coach that the trip is actually a professional climbing expedition to the top of K2, in the Himalayas - and I'm now thinking that if I go on I'm going to end up getting in everyone else's way.My fault for not checking things more closely sooner. Sorry.

Good luck to all the professionals and superstars out there who are taking on this mountain though... :D
And now I shall endeavour to stop cluttering up this thread with my inane meanderings.
Charles, don't get yourself down. Just find what you are good at when it comes to our hobby and submit things in that category. I'm good with the numbers, so I submitted a stat block with a story written by cappadocius (full of WIN, btw). I can spin a good tale, but have great difficulties actually writing it down. I know what I'm good at and work to improve what I'm not.
The only way to grow and improve as a human is work at it and accept the assistance of your fellow human beings.

Charles, Charles, Charles....
This is very much not what you are making it out to be. True, we do have some freelancers (both writing and artistic) helping to put this thing together. And, yes, several of the people who have submitted were also in the running for the RPG Superstar. But that's because many, many of Paizo's fans are extremely creative and totally capable of writing up something on Golarion. I'd bet that nearly every fan that is running an AP has written or developed something unique for his or her own game.
The point of this Fanzine is that this is something put together by the many highly-talented fans to show the love and appreciation we have for Pathfinder. It's a sharing experience here.
Heck, everyone expected me to submit something, and I would have too, except that I had another convention to tend to...I've been very busy.
I hope that you DID submit something to the fanzine, and if so, I look forward to reading it.
Really.

Lilith, can you share with us a bit more about how the editorial process will work for this project? You mentioned a while back that the editors may not be able to provide much feedback. I'm wondering if the volume of submissions will allow us writers to receive some constructive input.
If it is at all possible constructive feedback would be well and truly welcomed.
Gotta get better and all and the best way to do that is through learning how others view your work.

'Tis true flash_cxxi, and I certainly want to provide feedback to y'all that have submitted.
For the curious, what I've done is collected all the various submissions, numbered them and sent them out to three other editors. When they've given them back to me, I'll do a final read and do style editing and whatnot so that my layout guy has an easier time of it and there's some consistency. The level of feedback you'll receive will depend on the editor in question, and I'm hoping to get it back to the authors so that you can get a preview of what will be in the final copy, along with comments turned on. (Comments are good. Comments are your friend. Along with "Track Changes".)
As it stands right now, we have *checks her email* 24 submissions, with at least another two to three in the pipe. If I bump my estimates up to 30...let's just say that this will be a hefty fanzine. :)
Edit: Oh, and if there is anybody that wants to advertise to help cover print costs, whether it be for a PbP, product that you've written for, your Pathfinder-related (or gaming supply-related) website...contact me. I have rates for you. :D

We artist dudes and gals get to submit whatever we want... no editing... Althought I hear that hardcore dwarf-on-dwarf pr0n may get slightly censored...
Well.... I wish someone had mentioned this BEFORE the deadline. Thanks a lot, Hugo.
PS: The non-pr0n0graphic illustration for Sunshinegrrrl's prestige class has been sent out to you.

I will have to discuss this with Zux... but this besides the stories we sent would be helpful for our plans...

Since I ASSUME you are still looking for artwork for this project, you might want to check this from my blog. It might be right up your alley on what you are looking for artwise.

Hey Lilith,
Just wanted to let you know that Hugo has already done a picture up of my PFS Character (the one in the piece I sent you).
His original can be found here and a coloured version can be found here (by me) or here (by Shiny).
I was thinking of a picture of the item for the piece, but since there is already artwork available I was just tossing it out there for you.
Cheers
