sorry, i tried for days to find a better solution. i still can't believe that once a thread hits 7,500 posts it becomes a problem, but the evidence is pretty clear. i have a few more ideas to try which might help the situation but i have a sinking feeling that we may simply have an upper limit to the number of posts we can allow in a thread, even if i can make that number more than 7,500.
