Should have the eye of flame up shortly. Just have to fill in the flavor text for it.

If you need any of the others specifically before the rest, Pax, let me know and I'll prioritize it.

WOOOOOOOOOOO

Right on time, Gene. THANK YOU!

I've broken up my weekly Pathfinder RPG game into two types of sessions, lowers and highers. The players made L1 characters again and we play the group of PCs each week that I have a story prepared for. Lately its been 100% inprov (really top shelf stuff).

As for the "higher arc" I'll run that Monday with the Eye of Flame. I think he's one of the four in the 4-pack. I'll check tonight.

He'll be the first of four or five "bosses" they'll need to slay to stave off a civil war within the barony.

If all goes well, (from the DM's POV), they'll fell very successful, but maybe I'll still get to pull off a night of actual WAR, using either some Pathfinder rules or some old Battlesystem (revised) rules.

Either way, I don't really care the order of the bosses you stat-up, so long as maybe you do them in order of increasing CR. That way they'll be ready as I play them out. I'll let you know what feedback i have, if any on the stats.

Finally, what minions would be good for these bosses. I know in DDO the Tharashk Hounds are pretty prevalent wherever there are beholder bosses. Perhaps I'll have a look at the paizo abberations in the Bestiary. I wonder if there are any abberant dog minis we could find. Just wondering.

Take care and THANK YOU. The Eye of Flame for v.3.5 looks AMAZING!!!!

One question on the Environment: Tundra

?? Tundra? well, okay, but maybe this was supposed to be something else?

Anyhow, wonderful stats, really wicked abilities, captured nicely for v.3.5 I sooo cannot wait to use this one.

Liberty's Edge

I'll most likely be statting them in increasing CR. The four-pack of beholders came with the Eye of Flame, Eye of Frost, Eye of Shadow (I think), and the Eye Tyrant.

CR-wise, I'll probably be going with the following:
Eye of Flame - CR 10
Eye of Frost - CR 10 (similar enough to the eye of flame)
Eye of Shadow - CR 11
Eye Tyrant - CR 13

---

Good catch on the 'tundra' environment. That is indeed an error, I'll get it fixed and re-uploaded right away. Also noticed I didn't pick the thing's feats, either. How I manage that one is beyond me.

Here's a link to the updated version (old links will get you to it, too):

Did we already stat these interesting new acquisitions:
Iron Golem Juggernaut
Draegloth Abomination

Hope things are well with all of you.

I've added 'em to the list of things to get done. The current list is as follows:

Deva Fanatic (CR 6 - Lords of Madness)
Dragonborn Elementalist (CR 6 - Lords of Madness)
Foulspawn Mangler (CR 6 - Legendary Evils)
Swordwing (CR 6 - Lords of Madness)
Cloaker Ambusher (CR 7 - Lords of Madness)
Deathgrasp Sarcophagi (CR 8 - Demonweb)
Crownwing (CR 8 or 9 - Lords of Madness)
Beholder Eye of Frost (CR 10 - Beholder Set)
Beholder Eye of Shadow (CR 11 - Beholder Set)
Dragon, Young Volcanic (CR 11 - Lords of Madness)
Beholder Eye Tyrant (CR 13 - Beholder Set)
Elder Green Dragon (CR 13 - Legendary Evils)
- Huge-sized; adult
Rockfire Dreadnought (CR 15 - Savage Encounters)
Draegloth Abomination (CR 16 - Lords of Madness)
Iron Golem Juggernaut (CR 16 - Lords of Madness)
Frost Titan (CR 18 - Legendary Evils)
Dragon, Elder Iron (CR 20 - Legendary Evils)

Looks like I've got my work cut out for me. Especially since I'm doing them for both 3.5 AND Pathfinder now. Should be... interesting. :D

How's things going Gene? Anything new for us coming soon. Either way, you are the man!

Liberty's Edge

I do have some plans to get some stuff up over this week. If all goes well I should complete everything of CR 6 on the list (amounting to four new critters). It's taking a bit longer than usual due to them having both 3.5 and Pathfinder stats.

EDIT: Okay, what I think I'm going to do for the time being is just post the 3.5 stats for things I stat up. I'll be going through (already started, actually) and doing PF conversions for everything I've statted up to this point; as I make conversions I'll announce them on here or something.

Liberty's Edge

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Oooookay, two new critters for you folks today:
Deva Fanatic
Dragonborn Elementalist

Got more on the way. I'm hoping to get them out today. If not, expect them up sometime Sunday. As per usual, if you notice any errors let me know and I'll fix 'em up.

These are only the 3.5 stats; I'll convert them to Pathfinder RPG once I get to them in the conversion list.

Thanks Gene, these look great.

Sovereign Court

I picked up a few of those massive crocs/aligators. the based is really big... Like 15'. I'm not sure what these are called or if they have specific powers. Can you recommend which PAIZO or v.3.5. stat to use, or should we actually add them to the list?

I also picked up that massive iron golem juggernaut. Did Gene stat those already?

On the fun side, I look forward to the volcanic dragon... or should I just use one of PAIZO's existing stats for it? please advise?

Other stats look great Gene, keep up the awesome work!

How about the HeroSlayer Hydra. I picked up that piece at GENCON and would like it to be a good challenge for an 11th/12th level party. CR 15 or 16 if possible, but I'll leave that to you Gene, the expert.

I can't seem to find an advanced Hydra in the Pathfinder RPG; maybe in the Bestiary 3 next month?

Can you add this to the list?

Pax

Sovereign Court

Gene, can you write up some wicked stats for the Fed Hydra! Just added 2 to my collection!

Thanks!

So what are you up to now Gene?

It's late September. Clearly, we must scribe a magic circle, light the candles around it, hold hands, and chant GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENE...

Sovereign Court

Gene is amazing, hope he comes back soon. Well, the backlog of minis needing stats is growing. A thought... Mairkurion and others.... why don't we try to mock-up a draft of some of these beasts ourselves, then when Gene gets back he might have less to do?

I'd really like to see that fen hydra and the hero slayer hydra...

Pax

So, you mean like when the wife asks you to do house chores and you do it so badly that then she comes and does it for you?

Ooh yeah. Exactly ;)

Beholder Eye-Of-Flame Playtest

In a memorable adventure scene, the players approach the center of a town overrun by abberations. They perceive the scene to be childs play with etherial filchers and abyssal eviscerators about. The PCs had been there before and already secured all their valuables from the filchers. Just then, the Eye-of-Flame watches from just behind a pointed A-frame roof top, receiving cover and hiding initially.

Blast! The wizard is telekinessed and throw a distance to the ground! Great move. The groaning of the Eye-of-Flame is heard.

The wizard dimension doors up to the rooftop, and horrific battle ensues. Nobody expects the eye of flame to burst mid-way through its hp! Although a generally silly mechanic in 4e, this feature burst worked well with Pathfinder. The rooftop is soon ablaze!

Battle ensues down below and up high. The Eye-of-Flame lasts long enough to scare the bejezzus out of the players, and add great thematic drama to the scene. Eye stalks blast, a chomp from the mouth, and eventually the beholder looks weakened. Then BOOM! Another fiery burst.

The players loved it.
Unfortunately, I had the un-updated print, so I had forgotten the SR score and may have allowed at least one spell to go unchecked for caster level. But overall, it didn't really matter. The integrity of the stats overall, and the use of that cool red mini was enough to make that Pathfinder RPG session quite memorable.

Soon, we'll have Pathfinder RPG minis to discuss, but we've still a ways to go on useful other minis in our collections. Basically this thread is awesome because not only is Pathfinder RPG backward-compatible, but now the minis are quasi-laterally compatible! lol

Dark Archive

GENE! GENE! GENE! GENE! Maybe if we keep chanting his name he will grace us with new conversions.

Liberty's Edge

REALLY sorry I've not been around for the past couple months, folks, been hellishly busy dealing with real-life related crap and working on stuff for my home games. Not to mention that I hit a pretty nasty case of D&D burnout for awhile there.

That said, I /have/ been working on stuff with what downtime I do have; the foulspawn mangler is more or less done it just needs some stuff finalized and I need to write up flavor text for it. Once that's done I'll be moving onto the other critters on the list.

For the crocodiles, I'd just take the stats in bestiary 1 for a crocodile and apply the Giant and Advanced templates to it. That should give you a suitably nasty critter to throw at a lower level party. Alternatively, you could apply the Young Creature template to a dire crocodile and get something a bit tougher.

The iron golem juggernaut is already on the list for things to be written up. It'll probably be awhile, though.

For the volcanic dragon, I'd just use the magma dragon stats in bestiary 2. Just find a dragon of the appropriate size and there ya go!

Added to the list (as well as the fen hydra). It's looking like it'll be a CR 18 or so (normally I'd write it up as a CR 23-24 based on its card, but I don't really want to do anything epic for the time being).

Woot! and Double Woot, to ya, Gene!!!

Thanks for keeping the torch lit on these conversions.

I appreciate the list you're working, and since we're all in it for the long haul, we understand RL comes first, and are patient to wait for your quality work.

And with that, I shall sing you a Gene-song:

Buddy-Gene
My buddy, Gene, stats beholders
He makes them for Pathfinder, it is our game
But 4e is not the same.
They claim that 4e is the same game,
But the rules are just to lame.

My buddy, Gene, stats my minis,
Ohh.
My buddy, Gene, stats my minis.

I take all his strong advice,
And you cannot beat the price.

My buddy, Gene, and Mairkurion
Keep this thread to convert the minis we thought were dead.
And their usefulness lives on instead.

Oh
My buddy, Gene, ...stats my minis,
My buddy, Gene, ...stats great minis,
Our buddy, Gene, ... converts 4e minis.

Cus' 4e is not my game.
Cus' 5e is not my game.
Cus' 6e is not our game.

GOLD - Music by John Stewart, Lyrics by Pax Veritas

When the lights go down, in the California town,
The gamers are in for the evening,
I give my sheet a look, and I pack up all my books,
Gamers are in for the evening.

Rolling up my 20s, drinking Mountain Dew,
Cus' gamers out there finding platinum and gold

My online buddy, Mr. Gene, with the newest stats you've seen,
But he only posts once in a while,
He's got skill to make them sweet, even if they're 4e beasts,
The minis are great for Pathfinder.

So I'm singing on the website, waitin' for some more,
Cus' the characters out there are adventuring for gold.

Aw' the Pathfinder game makes the 4e thing look lame,
Cus' the wotci broke tradition and history,
It seems to lack that certain glue that gives cohesion to milieu,
As they rest on their copyright laurels.

We're using 4e minis, with Gene's awesome scores,
Mairkurion and I are hoping Gene will post some more.

Gamers out there finding platinum and gold,
Gamers out there finding platinum and gold,
Gamers out there finding platinum and gold.

I heerd tell that Gene was shanghaied. Glad to here he's still at liberty.

I really need the War Devil for Monday.
I'll use one of the Pathfinder RPG generators or maybe Lone Wolf.

Gene, if you can write up a War Devil for PFRPG, I can playtest it monday. *wink wink*

Pax

Sovereign Court

Okay, I bet I can do those stats too.

If I post one up, will you have a look at it Mairkurion, and provide feedback?

Sure, I can give it a look.

Bump, bump.

Bump, bump.

I would be really, really interested in the Draegloth Abomination (CR 16 - Lords of Madness)!
Also the Iron Golem Juggernaut (CR 16 - Lords of Madness) woiuld be neat :)

Sovereign Court

Ooh yeah. I've got that Iron Golem Juggernaut too - Let me see if I can locate Mr. Gene.

*Casts Locate Gene Spell*

Also, I'll check the PAIZO Bestiary 2 or 3... I seem to recall one that could possibly be used with that mini.
Thanks Ischtan.

Sovereign Court

P.s. I finally brought out the earth titan... and who knew the sorcerer would succeed with Anti-Gravity spell! lol No saving throw to that one, so the actual stats didn't see much action.

Sovereign Court

Well I finally used the Shadowflayer in my game last week (a la Gene's stats), and it's amazing how those things scare the pants off the players-regardless of level or actual threat, they're simply very scary. lol

Good stats by the way - consider that a playtest. Thing is, they can't be the bbeg, but they work really well as supporting cast.

Until now I used the Deathlock Wight, which was really fantastic when it used its reanimate ability for the first time and the players where like "WTH".

The corruption corpse was really effective from the roleplaing & horror point of view: When describing them how it teared its rotten flesh from its body and throws it at them, you should have seen the look on their faces.

And finally I used the Beholder Eye of flame in a battle with another "normal" and some yugoloth in a fight versus level 16 PCs, and still the Eye of Flame contributed to the fight with its supporting abilities, which was really cool.

I would love to see some of the other monsters converted, as I stated in a former post, the Draegloth Abomination and Iron Golem Juggernaut are in my main interest, but I am happy about every other converted creature I could use in my play!

Sovereign Court

I finally got to use the Phaseweb Spiders last week with a Scythejaw combo at the entrance to an old abandoned keep. The players really loved it.

We miss you Gene, and would love to have just a few more precious ones statted up as only you can do with flair.

-Pax

Hi.

Anybody knows of other threads like this one. Because unfortunately here no more creatures are posted (which really is a pity because the conversions of Gene were great - Anybody knows something of him)

Liberty's Edge

I'm alive.

Before anything I want to offer my most humble apologies to all of you for just disappearing without a word. Without delving too deep into it, a LOT has happened in my personal life over the last two(-ish) years and I'm only just now finally getting settled to the point where I can afford to have a social life of any sort outside of my close acquaintances. I'm okay.

Anyways, onto business. As I'm sure anyone attempting to grab the files has found, they are no longer available, I'll work to remedy this as soon as I'm reasonably able. I'll begin working on stat blocks again as time allows; I have a few nearly-complete ones that I should be able to get post soon-ish.

I just wanted to drop by really quick and let you fine folks know I'm still about it some capacity and that I have intentions to continue this endeavor.

Really glad to hear that your are back and well.
Looking forward to hear from you again!

Sovereign Court

Hey there, Gene. Sorry I missed you when you popped in last year. Let's fire up those stat engines! Once more unto the breech dear friend.

No sign of life again :(

I was so excited today to find this message board with the conversions for all the 4e minis but disheartened when the links to the stats no longer worked. I hope Gene is well where ever he is.

I won't play 4e but like the minis and have no clue how to convert the stats to 3.5. If anyone has any of Gene's previous work and could post it, I would aprreciate it.

Scott

I was sorry to see those files missing as well. I wish Gene the best and if anyone has had these files anywhere, I sure would like to see them too.

Debby

Sovereign Court

Hmmmn. I just stopped back to pick up some stats for the Gnaw Demon... but see the links are broken...

I'll contact Mairkurion{tm} in RL and see if he has a copy or if he can contact Gene...

I cannot recall where I saved his PDF to...

Ah... the good ole days.. this was a fun thread.

Pax

Much appreciated!

I was reorganizing my OGL files and came across a copy of this compendium. I don't remember when I downloaded it, or if it is the most "current" version, but it weighs in at 55 pages. If no one else can find a more recent version, I can email this one out to anyone who is interested.

Also found my version. It also has 55 pages. Should be the last version. Also can mail this to anybody who wants it.

Sorry guys. My means of contacting Gene seem to no longer work. Gene, if you come back and see this, I hope you are well. It's been a long time. PM or Email me.
