Congrats on your success! Few thread last that long(I'm counting them all as one big 'thread'). It's fun to go back to the start of it all and see how much you've improved. You all have, BTW.

Wow, not even an hour and already someone's taken it up. Thanks Azhagal!

Scarab Sages

Ok, so I worked up a first draft of that Barbarian character. I really like how it turned out, but I have a feeling I'm going to need to change it. See, You asked for chainmail, and somehow I ended up doing tunic. I am also really proud of that axe, which managed to incorporate both Storm and Bull into one "great" weapon. Ha! Pun!

Anyhow, lemme know if you're going to keep it or if you want me to change it. If you dislike it completely then I can start from scratch I suppose. It'll just take as long as this one did.

Liberty's Edge

I am so f&@*ing backed up right now, it's not even close to funny.

Right now, I've got five commissions going for YeuxAndI (really, one big commission, but I have to combine five separate drawings), one commission for Kayos, and on top of all that, I'm in the process of writing a three-page article for Kobold Quarterly.

Oh, and did I mention the fact that it's "I'm-a-tourist-in-Ticonderoga-it's-starting-to-drop-below-80-degrees-so-I'm -leaving" season at the gas station, so I'm spending more time there, too? F%&#ing crazy. I really hope this doesn't happen any time soon...

Oi!

I've just taken a shot on Coralee Starscryer for flash_cxxi...

Well, I didn't actually shoot her, I drew her... Oh well... You know what I mean!

Enjoy!

Hi!

I'm glad to have come across this thread.

Am I to understand that this is a place for people to ask and receive character portraits? If so, I've been out of practise for awhile (meaning I've not drawn anything in about a year) - and would like to once again try drawing ... and I especially like doing people's wonderfully imaginative character portraits for games!

So I'll take a bit and look about or if you think you have something you'd like to see (character) me draw - I'll try and take you up on it.

Although because I'm doing this free and for practice, I won't be able to commit a proper deadline or say whether it'll be in colour, pencil or black and white at the end of the project.

Its only fair to also share some of my sample artwork here before I take on any free comissions as well.

Wow! I really like your style in the first two, the strong outlines and the chaotic coloring really make them stand out.

The picture of the lovers is really good too.

je, its ok, we are not hard in our artist, we understand they have lives and this is extra...

If just for the sake of practicing you might want to check our Backorder List

Otherwise I might have a request, which anyone interested can give a shot:

Juleihda Faina Kyvanna, Female Grey Elven Bard of the Mordant Spire and Captain of the 'Silver Star'

Jules, as she is called by her friends, is quite different than her neighbors and familiars in the Mordant Spires, she was born with a strong feeling about her search for the Bright, so strong it was that her elven means just that Shine (Faina).

She is tall and slender, her body is not that of a sailor, but her natural grace and agility helps her counterack her lack of strenght, which combined with her high charisma an unnatural beauty make her crew work harder... which only increase when she supports them with directions and orders in her melodic voice (Perform: Oratory and Bardic Performane)

Jules is tall and slender, her pale skin natural of her race even when she stays a lot outdoors, her hands are callused as befits any sailor. Her big eyes are a deep grey that sees deeply into the soul of her sailors or the horizons in front of her, always searching for the enxt part of her path. Her clear blue hair falls below her waist and she tends to leve it free, which makes it feel like waves of water when she moves.

She dresses comfortably, tight breaches and a loose shirt of blue elven silk, which che combines with a red sash for collor and a purple symbol of Desna, her patron goddess.

She carries a masterwork rapier, the silvery handle has a ragon head which is her family's crest, and she had a few daggers hidding in her clothes knowing perfectly that range is her best tactic in combat, and her best friend anyone who can cover her sides. She has a magic compass hanging from her left wrist, where she can check easily where she needs to go.

I have a request:
Hobgoblin alchemist, by the name of Drahdic. Was banished from his tribe for practicing magic and various other minor and not-so-minor crimes. He went to Magnimar, but found that he was not welcome there, either, and his unsavory alchemists's shop was unsuccessful. Eventually, he left for Sandpoint, hoping to get better business there.
He has sickly greenish skin, long, thin black hair, and beady blue eyes (unusual for a hobgoblin). He has a similarly bizarre familiar, a tarsier by the name of Fig (for the food which its previous, more ignorant owner fed it). Fig sleeps in a pouch attached to Drahdic's backpack, as the creature prefers dark places.
Drahdic is the ultimate mad scientist, although he is considerably tougher than Frankenstein. I would compare him to the gnome tinker in the latest KQ online article when it comes to morality.
Thanks, all.

Well, I havn't gotten a reply to my previous one, so if you were happy with the Kobold and the cat I did for you a while ago, I could give this a try. No promises it'll turn out that good though. I did have more fun with the kobold then with the human ones I've been doing.

And for shameless giggles I'm going to plug that kobold again. Always fun to look at.

Scarab Sages

I just discovered this thread, which is the best on the internet.

Edit: So, I just make a request? 'Cause I've been looking forever for a good Evil-doer-in-Top-Hat pic to print out (for an encounter my players have in the Shadow in Magnimar). The baddie is based on this miniature. (That's a big knife he's holding behind his back.)

Virtual high-five for anyone who takes it. :)

Can't access your reference picture. I guess they had to take it down. I've done at least one baddie in a tophat before, and if you don't mind if it takes a couple weeks can probably manage another, but need more info.

Talk about service! That works just fine, many thanks. *highfive*

The mini I'm referring to is "Mr. Fright" from Horrorclix (I'm not sure what set) - the link still works for me, but maybe 'cause that's in my cache.

I'm hesitant about trying out the 2008 and older open commissions. I guess I'm worried that if I do any of them, they person who requested them may not be able to see them (because they're such old requests)- and that's the point right?

I for one will not complain, I her general aspect and love the face you gave her... yes there is the issue with details... but as the saying goes "the devil is in the details" and thatis what this thread is for... practice and fun :)

by the way, thank you, she looks beautiful, i am sure a friend would like Jules cousin done :P, so if no one else signs... I will gave you her details... just need to get them :P

mmm I remember... Kendra is a normal elf, no gray one... red headed, long har, but not as long as Jules... green big and deep eyes, dressed like a noble, corsette, long pretty but practical skirts with lot of pockets... her lack of regard she shows in a magical piercing in the tongue, she is a wizard... I think an evoker or conjurer, she become cursed/blessed accidentaly after they recovered an artifact, so in the middle of the night she ripped her left eye and in its place she put a blue jewel (zafire i think) with a red gem in the middle of it, that moves like it was an eye.

so if you can give her a shot one of this days I and mu friend will be happy

It's a weapon of the Shoanti tribes, a blade bound to the skull of a giant gecko. You can use it in your off-hand as a shield, but if you use it as an off-hand attack, you lose it's shield bonus for that round.

You'll find it described in more detail in the Rise of the Runelords Player's Guide (equipment section) available in print for $2 or as a free PDF download.

AAAAAAAAAAHHH! I'VE GOT SO MUCH COOL SHIT TO DO!

RPG Superstar 2010 Top 32

I'm not hugo. Just a heads-up. =p

Very rarely, if a human kicks enough ass in life, the gods, fates, angels, devils, or whatever you believe in will offer to make him a deal, in accordance with a pact older than this world. Once upon a time in the twilight of an older world, when aiming to win great warriors to his cause, some god of chaos and strife approached a few humans and said: "Okay, look, I'm not going to offer you peace after the storm, because I know you don't want that. Suppose I offered you the opposite; that your blade would never dull, that your praise would always be sung, that you could fight as you do now until the end of days and beyond. Would that be awesome or what?"
And so, with occassional additions to their ranks, they have.

The race of valk look like humans, with dusky skin and sharp red eyes. Or eyes blue as thunder and skin pale as the moon. Or flesh covered in rune-like 'birthmarks' and enormous anime hair. There are only a handfull of consistancies, let me go over them:

-They all have some bladed weapon made of crystaline bone in place of their right or left hand (usually this is either vaguely ax-like or vaguely sword-like). It heals if sundered.
-They're all physically gorgeous, in some sense or another
-They all kick ass (that is, they all have hero stats; there are no mook valk)
-They're all freaking crazy.

Essentially, the soul of the dead valk (or dead human, if this is his first incarnation as a valk) gets to pick what his body will look like, down to the last detail; that's part of the deal.

And while he won't keep any of his old memories on reincarnation, he will retain the same basic spirit. Valk don't come back to fulfill some higher purpose or finish something started in life. They come back because they prefer the real world- blood sweat tears and steel- to heaven.

They just want to fight.

I don't have any specific character in mind, but it would rock if someone would draw me a valk or two.

Oh man. I didn't even really know the meaning of the word busy until this last couple of weeks. Every time I get to starting the Hobgoblin, someone interrupts with something else to do. I'm reduced to random sketching in class. You can see the results of that here. But ya. other then that, nothing. Sorry it took so long to reply! I was out of the country and had no email access. The drawing looks very cool (especially the axe)!!! Thanks!

If you wanted to supe it up a bit, you could add the chain shirt and some fur and make him look a little more haggard :). I am thinking a Scottish border reiver kind of thing. He also usually wears an open helm. I don't have much in my head for that - except it should be mountain barbarianesque - so be creative!

Of course, I'll be patient if you are still working on the hobgoblin!
