Technically the Apocalypse has already happened. "Apocalypse" is just a synonym for revelation. So apocalypse refers to the Revelation of John, which is recorded in the Bible and describes the end of the world. But of course over time people have come to use it to refer to that event. Same thing with "Armageddon". It's a place, not an event.

Yup, but for most intents and purposes we assume people mean it in the colloquial sense - that is, the cataclysmic end of the planet, whether it be by divine return and all-consuming flame, alien bombardment, Spiral Nemesis, nuclear holocaust, Sol going supernova, zombies infesting the planet, or by other means.

Who's under that bulky suit of armor? ;)
Yep. This falls in that whole use/misuse of words discussion that popped up the other day. I wish these two extensions of words hadn't come about.

We would have been a lot better off if Luther's suggestion was taken into account to drop that last book from the NT. Headaches, headaches galore. :P

Yeah, I've felt that way some times. But then you'd lose half of Handel's Messiah and a lot of other great sacred art. Here's the real problem: over time, Protestantism removed the Bible from its interpretive framework--the complex network of canonical materials that grew up along with the Bible (for just one example, the Nicene creed was canonized by the same group that finalized the canon of scripture.) Once the Bible is cut loose from its canonical framework, people can interpret it willy-nilly. For example, I'm pretty sure I just found chapter and verse that commands everyone to send me their rare D&D miniatures. Just trust me though--it's late and I need to hit the hay so I can't look it up right now.

bible code exegesis is dangerous in the hands of a 'true' believer.

I created the term NUKE IT when we got a Microwave...a year later Michael J Fox used it on an Episode of Family Ties... :)

Don't forget humanity ends in 2 more years. Or about 720 days.
I wonder if it is true that nothing matters, so we can go wild and have a free-for-all.

The prophecy of the popes is interesting... given that they have done their job well in identifying which pope various stanzas refer to, and JP2 was the third to last, Papa Razzi has to be the penultimate pope. After him, there will be a "Peter of Rome", or Peter II, who will be the last. There will be great suffering. It then ends with "The End". One can only hope that the idea of huge churches is what will end. The prophecy isn't clear.
As for the method of the apocalypse, I would really feel cheated if there wasn't zombiegeddon. Because rotting flesh is sexy. =)

String Theory Invalidate Religion and Evolution...good reason to give up those false belief systems.

I encourage you to try and explain string theory in a way that actually makes sense; I tried looking it up on Wiki and my head hurt after the first paragraph.
Even then being a religious person I seriously doubt it'll change my mind, but at least I'll understand some of your ranting :P
matter is made up of little energy strings that vibrate in very weird but mathematically detectable ways. but they are not really strings but parts of a membrane. That gravity may or maynot be attached to. They also could be linked to alternate dimensions, but don't have to be. Clear as mudd yet?
