Challenges and Rewards in separate tome

General Discussion (Prerelease)

Liberty's Edge

The design staff probably have a pretty solid agenda for the big book of everything, but I wonder if I am alone in wishing that some things from the Beta playtest be moved into a follow up book with the monsters.

I like having everything rules related in one book. (The 3.5 rules compendium is a fantastic resource.)
But for the final version of the Pathfinder RPG I would prefer that the magic items, specific traps and the monster stats be in a separate book.
Then players could be asked not to bring it to the table.
Yes I know they will probably buy it and read it, but at least an attempt at keeping the GM's resources separate from the main rule book would make me happy.

I can see why challenges like traps (basically, everything that has a CR) should be in one book, but the magic items really should stay there. Players want to look at what they can potentially buy with their money or create in their spare time.

This may or may not be appropriate but I think it is in the same vein. Will there be a future book similar to the Magic Item Compendium? The information in the back portion of that resource has been of tremendous help to me when running games and having players wanting to make items. Just asking for opinions.
