What I don't understand is why can't we just say according to the rules, instead of RAW, as an example. I was always taught that proper grammer was critical for the establishment of a polite society.
Because they don't mean the same thing. Something can be explained according to the rules, but not RAW. An example of these are the "cut scenes" in CotCT adventure path. They are according to the rules, in that you can easily find an explanation in the rules that explains the situation and don't really need to be since the rules were ment to simulate real fights( this is RAI or 'rules as intended') but this is not RAW because they don't go into battle rounds or how much damage is done.

I first saw nerf used while playing wow, usually some class complaining about one of their abilities being reduced in power.
this was started in everquest when one of the most powerful items in the game (dropped from a monster that spawned once every 36 hours and sometimes skipped a spawn cycle) was made useless to anyone who could kill the monster. People began complaining that they made it into a nerf weapon - referencing the guns that shoot those flimsy darts, and the nickname has stuck

I may or may not have been thinking of specific individuals on these boards when I wrote that.

Which item was this?
I first heard it used in reference to various class changes and the Manastone 'nerfs.'

I actually took up the mantle of llama because I had seen it used as a reference to a stupid or disruptive player. Perhaps a bastardization of lamer.
Maybe we should start using poodle.
Poodle
PÜ-dul (Noun)1) Infuriating, small creature of the canine family, known for yapping and peeing on upholstery.
2)Infuriating, small ego-ed internet creature of the canine family, known for yapping and peeing on message boards.
how's that? I think it'll catch on.

So if I'm arguing that some loophole is against the rules as written (RAW), I can safely refer to RAW for the rest of my post. In fact, RAW can be referred to for the rest of the thread, since the term has now been established.
The auto industry is just as bad with acronyms; I write many procedures my company uses, and some could probably pass as secret code outside of here.
One thing I don't understand is "teh"; the first time I saw it, I thought someone misspelled the. Can anyone enlighten me?

Similar to pwn, it came about originally as a misspelling of the and has since stuck for some reason no one can actually fathom.
EDIT: Although I suppose it might be cuel (spelled cool).

I was thinking of that old post you used to use when people finally broke your bad grammar limit.
You know the one, where grammar comes and knocks on the door and talks to you.

CoDzilla is a refrence to Cleric or Druid zilla,
it came from a points based comparison of all the classes of D&D on the char ops forum IIRC. the criteria to assigning points to a class were described and each class feature rated. After this was done the point tallies were totalled to reach a final score for each class. Druid was the winner, Cleric came in #2, Wizard came in #3. Since then whenever people have tried to argue that this class or the other was overpowered, people would say that it wasn't because all you had to play was CoDzilla and you were most powerful (they updated the list every time a new class came out in a splatbook, clerics and druids always held the top two).

Sorry. We don’t understand Whine. If your character was not so mentally crippled, he may have survived the first two encounters. Is it really our fault his only weapon proficiency is foul language?

I think it has something to do with a misplaced sense of irony. People think they are being clever by intentionally using a common mispelling, and as a sort of reference to the internet culture that brought it upon us.
Really, they aren't being ironic. They just appear unintelligent, especially over the internet.
What gets me is when somebody who has a grasp of language and communication uses that in conversation, they are criticized as being elitist or phony. There is a huge entitlement movement these days that people who have undesireable character traits get defensive when they are called on them, as if it is their right to act like jerks but not anothers right to criticize them for it.

I don't remember, but it was one of those mobs you had to take out with a group of people who had the highest level before the first expansion came out.... it was 2 or 3 patches before that first expansion I think

What do you mean by "thread eaten"?
There is a bug in the messageboards that Gary cannot find. Every so often, when somebody posts a new thread, or even a single post, it does not appear. You can tell when it is happening because normally the board directs you to your new thread to display your post - if you are directed back to the board display, your thread has been eaten.
People have taken to calling the bug the "Post-Eating Monster". Incidentally, Gary is the Post-Monster General, so there is a possibility that during a solar flare, Gary changes into the PEM and searches for random threads to destroy.

OOOOoooh! That shed lots of light; Thanks!
See, I posted the question in the right thread didn't I? ;)
