Congrats to the Ravens. The game scared me for a bit - thought it was going to be just another lopsided affair. But the 49ers came back and made it worth watching.

Good game all around.

YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And that is all I have to say about that.

Interesting fact: Ray Lewis' first career sack 17 years ago was against....Jim Harbaugh.

Scarab Sages

Damn! I've been slacking.

Geaux Saints!!

Geaux Tigers!!

Go Texans!!

Scarab Sages

What? I live in Houston now. And the Texans, unlike the Eagles, are a team I can cheer for and not feel dirty.

Broncos and Texans! Wooot!

Project Manager

Welp, last week was a little scary, but I'm pleased with the way both the Packers (the team of my homeland), and the Seahawks (the team of my chosen city, led by a fellow Badger) did this week. I'm also pleased that my loyalties won't be tested unless they play one another in the playoffs.

Silver Crusade

Go Rams! I think we have a really good shot at beating the Cowboys this week!

How bout them Broncos!

I don't know what happened to my Texans, and I don't want to talk about the Jags. :(

One out of three aint bad. ;)

It's a weird start to the season, that's for sure.

3 wins total in the NFC East, 2 of which came against other NFC East teams.

3 losses total for the AFC East, all of which are against other teams in the AFC East.

Kansas City with a record like that.

San Francisco with a record like that.

Pittsburgh looking like one of the worst teams in football.

New England winning with defense.

Chicago winning with offense.

If anyone had predicted those things at the close of last season they'd likely be laughed out of the building.

Scarab Sages

Poor LSU. Their defense really needs some work.

Yeah what weird world we live in, LSU is struggling on defense and the Saints are winning with it. However, Mettenberger looked like a potential dark horse Heisman candidate right up until the last series.

Dark Archive

I am hoping for another win this weekend for the Patriots. They are winning despite having a lot of trouble on Offense. But losing Vince Wilfork is going to hurt them a lot.

I am hoping for a Patriot loss this weekend because...they're the Patriots.

Wait, we have a football thread? Whaaaat?

Also, you may shame me. I'm a Jags fan.

Geaux Tigers!

Also, the boy is running around with his football yelling "Touch down! Doo Bees!"

I'm not whining cos we lost fair and square,
but.......damn, what a feeble attempt at skullduggery.

Scarab Sages

Agreed. That was a stupid move and I'd live to see the punk get NCAA'd out a few games. Ain't no excuse for that kind of stupid.

Scarab Sages

Still, it was a good game.

Scarab Sages

Bummer for the Saints yesterday. Them's the breaks, though.

Geaux Tigers!

Scarab Sages

A tough loss for the Saints. But Seattle played a damn good game.

Scarab Sages

There are rumors that the Houston Texans may hire Bill Cowher as their new head coach. I approve this meassage.

Also, thanks to Ohio State for losing to Michigan State and ensuring the SEC once again returns to its rightful place in the BCS Championship.

Scarab Sages

And talk about an awesome Oklahoma/Oklahoma State game!

At least y'all beat my Texans.

*facepalm*

This one, though, they're gonna lose.

Very possible. Florida State seems to be firing on all cylinders, so to speak. But, you never know. I'm sure a lot of people also thought Ohio State wouldn't lose either.

But, as long as it's a good game, I'm cool either way.

As I saw someone elsewhere ask, what is the rule for taking your helmet off in this situation:

Well, I love FSU and despise the Auburn/Alabama national title bloc, so ... you're the objective one, here.

I'd been virtually certain Michigan State was going to handle Ohio State, and was surprised the Buckeyes even scored 24 points.

It's also possible Auburn is a team of destiny, if you believe in such things. Their last month has probably won more people to Christ than most Sunday sermons.

Scarab Sages

Yeah, I'm not actually a big Auburn/Bama fan either. But I have some friends who hate the SEC and wanted to see the conference miss out on the big game, so it's fun to give them s%%# about it.

Scarab Sages

Also, WHO DAT!

Enjoyed all of the games in the snow yesterday. It would be nice to get at least a little snowy weather for the Super Bowl this year since it will be in NJ.

Dark Archive

Ack, I know it was a clean hit but poor Gronk. He is lost for the season hopefully not done for his career. I hope the NFL takes notice though and thinks about the repercussions this is going to have, these low hits are not good.

Was anyone else bothered by what Mike Tomlin did? Seemed pretty bush league stuff. I thought he was better than that. I am also a little annoyed that it seems the media has given him a pass on this. Am I being too sensitive?

If the NFL hits the Steelers with lost draft picks for it they will only hammer home the level of inconsistency with how they enforce the rules. A couple of years ago one of the Jets assistants not only had all the inactive players standing as close to the field as possible, but he actually tripped an opposing player. He was fired by the Jets, but IIRC that was the end of it.

I honestly don't know what to think of that. Doesn't strike me as Tomlin's style.

Dark Archive

I would agree it does not seem his style ... but he did it.

With the Jets the guy was fired and he was an assistant coach. Seems pretty cut and dry. Perhaps a draft pick is not the way to go ... but perhaps a suspension of Tomlin?

Since we're on the topic of road kill. I saw a dead rabbit on the side of the road this morning.

Bad year for me College wise as I'm pretty sure Mack Brown's done (Hook Em Horns), but on the flip side, it's been a fantastic year for me as an NFL fan... As a Broncos fan our team has been fun to watch all year (save games against the Colts and Pats...)

Go Broncos!

At least one of my teams doesn't suck this year.

I'm still pleased that my Cardinals are 8-5.

I have a feeling the Niners may be in for a surprise.

That game was pretty fun to watch. Any game where there is a combined 50+ points and the teams combined are 0-1 on extra points is worth watching.

Shadow Lodge

Thank you, Miami Dolphins, for that nice early Christmas Present.
