Wizards in Beta

Alpha Playtest Feedback General Discussion

Scarab Sages

I know the Beta isn't out yet, but I was hoping someone 'in the know' could answer a couple questions for me about them, for the sake of my wizard's player.

1. The bonded item they can choose at the beginning, does this cost them anything? He wants to have a wand, and knows it will cost him some money to enchant it, but does he start with the masterwork wand right off the bat, like a familiar?

1A. When enchanting, the total cost would be 1/4 of the market value, correct? It says half of the normal crafting cost, which is half of the market value, but it could just be re-iterating.

2. This is the more important one, and while the above two could be deciphered with the Alpha, I have no clue about this. In Alpha 3, the wizard's specialist spell-like abilities used Charisma as the save DC modifier. The player of this wizard used Charisma as a dump stat, and wanted to make sure it wouldn't be needed with the new 'bonus spells' the Beta would be giving wizard specialists. Will Charisma still come into play, or is he safe in keeping it a dump stat?

Thanks!

I checked the previews - no specific point mentioned on this. However they repeatedly are referred to as Bonus Spells, and there is no reason to assume bonus spells would suddenly use a different casting modifier.

I think your wizard friend is safe with the charisma dump stat.
